Counterattack... - 1:05pm EST - the spy
Many people who come here are familiar with Newman's flaming of Thief: The Dark Project in his preview for GAgames. I took it apon myself to write a formal rebuttal to his arguments. What was originally planned to be nothing more then a news post at this site, is now an editorial at eXscape. So make haste all yea Thief fans, and see that you have nothing to fear.

New Screenshots - 11:50pm EST - the spy
It's becoming increasingly harder to find an oportunity to update this place.. but don't fret ladys and gentalmen, I'm still spying on the thief scene. Our friends over at LGS are working day and night to get Thief to Beta, and from what i've heard, it's a mind numbing task... But plenty of fun too.. i hear that the "rain frogs" spell is a thing to behold! I just recently got myself a new system, 300Mhz Pentium 2, 64 Megs of RAM, etc... No 3D card yet, but on this baby, even the software rendering on Thief will scream. Ok, on the the real content. The LGlass Thief Site has put up 2 new screenshots about a week ago, and i thought i might as well review them, seeing as that's what i've been doing;

  • Now might be a good time to draw your sword
    I'm pretty sure we've seen this room in one of the trailers.. Yup, that guard is commin to get us... From what i've heard and seen, the fencing will be impressive.. (though i don't know if it can beat the Underworld combat system) The enemys sem to also be getting more lifelike...

  • Hammer time
    Wow, check out those Frankenstein'ish gagents in the background! I wonder how much you'll be able to manipulate those... Another case of a baddy commin' to get us!

    No External Camera - 2:30pm EST - the spy
    That fact, as well as a few others, are discussed in this little email interview with MAHK

    Me- "Say Mahk... in case you haven't noticed, on my Thief page i've raised a ruccus about the exsistence of an external cammera... sparked by screenshot.. "Time for a swim".... Am I right or wrong?

    MAHK- "You're wrong.  No external camera.  Sorry...."

    Me- "Ah Drat... 8-D So who's that man in black in that screenshot?"

    MAHK- "An assassin.  One of the crime lord Ramirez' henchmen. There's more to the story than that, but I won't spoil it..."

    Me- "Hmmm.. pretty cool all the same.. Any reason why he's named Garret?"

    MAHK- "Garrett isn't a particular reference to anything.  We made a big list of names and liked Garrett best. Apparently Glen Cook as a sort of noir fantasy series with a Garrett in it.  But that's just coincidence."
