Guide to Using FleshWorks

This is a short set of guidelines to get you off to a good start.

  1. First, look at Help:Editing on meta.wikimedia.com and and have a play in the Sandbox, just to get an initial feel for the markup.
  2. Before you create a page on some topic, use the search function to check references to that topic, as this will avoid duplication and work for the Wiki Administrators who will have to clean up the mess.
  3. Use informative names like Music Schema List or Performance Tips
  4. To create a page, first create a link to it on another page. Then click on that link to create your new page.
  5. Make use of the preview function to avoid submitting too many unnecessary small edits for minor mistakes.
  6. Use Categories, they are very simple to use and make sure information in the Wiki is helpfully organised. Browse some of the existing Category Pages for pointers, and note how existing categories are used at the bottom of each page.
  7. Remember, if you make a mistake previous versions of any page can be recovered. So, if you accidentally deleted a big block of material and only noticed after saving, contact one of the Wiki Administrators for assistance.
