Intro

As a level becomes larger, it becomes increasingly more difficult to select and work with objects in the viewports due to clutter. In Dromed this would be solved through the use of Area Brushes, however in T3Ed the same effect is achieved through the Group Browser.

Displaying the Group Browser

Make the Group Browser visible by clicking on the large "G" button in the top toolbar. In a new level, this will be empty.

Creating a group

To create a new group, it is first necessary to select some objects that are to be placed into this group. Do not worry about selecting all of the required objects, as you can easily add new objects to an existing group later.

When the object(s) are selected, click Edit -> New Group in the Group Browser menu bar. You will then be prompted for the name of the group to create. Once this is entered, the group will appear in the Group Browser with a check mark next to its name. This check mark toggles the visibility of the named group - turn it off to make all the grouped objects invisible, in all viewports.

Adding new objects to a group

New objects can be added to an existing group by selecting them in the viewports, and choosing **Edit -> Add selected actors to group** in the Group Browser. All of the currently selected objects will be added to the currently-highlighted group.

HINT: Use box selection to quickly select all objects within a box drawn in a viewport. Hold down **Ctrl-Alt-LMB** and drag to make a selection. This will select all objects within the box, irrespective of their depth "into" or "out of" the screen.

Selecting all objects in a group

The command Edit -> Select actors in the Group Browser will select all the objects in the current group. You can then move, delete or manipulate all these objects as required.
