Don't forget IRN BRU, the greatest hangover cure in the civilised world. It makes up for the proclaimers...

Dundee United. Yup. And Celtic better win because of the simple fact that I don't want Rangers to win the league.

Did you know DUFC are ninety years old this month?

I was blissfully unaware of that little fact. I am now forcing myself not to make any obvious jokes about being 90 and football performance.
Resisting temptation has never been a strong point though.

It's a pity Craig Brown isn't aware of that little problem

And you forget another who contributed rather directly to Thief.

In the Hunterian Museum at the University of Glasgow, there's a mechanical thing, filling an area about 3 feet on a side. It looks like a model steam powerplant.

It is. It was bought in ~1760 for use in the Natural Philosophy (aka Science) class, to demonstrate how the newfangled steam-powered mine pumps worked.

But the damn thing didn't work. So it was turned over the the University's resident mechanic to fix.

He couldn't. But he tried and tried to fix it - and in the process, James Watt made the dramatic improvements in the steam piston that gives him the credit for creating the modern steam engine. Such as are evident in places in Thief.

Just a correction for you Stonewall, Robbie Burns was actually Irish, believe it or not!
He moved to Scotland sometime in his teens I think...

IRU BRU is more or less a kind of cream soda. It's very popular over here. 8)

Hey, I like IRN Bru sometimes. We have an English food shop here, you know. But I'm really crazy about HobNobs! (Sorry redEye ) Are they Scottish, too? They come from McVitie's.

BTW, does my name sound remotely Scottish? I know it's a town in Northumberland, but it's north of Hadrian's Wall. Nobody seems to know where my name comes from, but one thing is sure - it's not German.
