Sorry Samantha and other German speakers for the inconvenience.
Ah I see, no problem, Iīll just try to get 500 more then. Though I gotta say for me the loot goal in the first mission was alot easier to get than in the second mission.
Anyway, awesome campaign, beltzer! :) Rooftop missions/thieves highway are my favourites and this one is pure eye-candy, as your missions usually are :) I could just stand around on a rooftop and enjoy the view :cheeky:
Iīm also glad you hold back this time with the creepy creatures and undead, itīs sth. I really dislike. A tiny little bit like it was here is okay though, even for me :D
If I could give improvement suggestions, Iīd suggest to put more open loot in several rooms and appartments. Itīs always nice to jump into a window and find some loot there. In your missions there often was either nothing or very well hidden.
Also if you make another rooftop mission I recommend to involve slowfall-potions. Itīs often easy to get up somewhere, but getting down not so much. Cardia often makes that mistake too in his missions. But those are just really small things, other than that it was pretty perfect imo :)
Thanks for you thoughts.
About the loot, its hard to satisfy all players. :) One tester thought it was too much loot, and that i should delete some. And an other one that i should add more.
I wanted to add slow fall and speed potions as well. But the problem was that i did not want someone to use it down between houses, and walk around down there :)
And speeds, easy to go to places you shouldn't.
I think with too much loot you are on the saver side than with not enough, cause itīs annoying for a player when he finished all other objectives and only has the loot goal left. Loot hunting is always sth. thatīs a job on the side. Garrett for example would never run around hunting for like 200 loot after he finished his main objectives :)
I thought that was the case and I think it doesnīt matter cause they werenīt really that necessary in your missions :) :thumb:Quote:

I have few questions about Mission 1:
1. Where is code for Vault? Bank president mentioned removing some numbers and upstairs guy from office. Upstairs guy mentioned backup key for something and in Moina's office I found Window key, but there is no frobbable windows anywhere. I also found Vault key #1. I'm guessing that there is Vault key #2, so where is it?
2. Below Apartments I found fireplace with frobbable statue. Where is item for that?
3. What's the point of ladder? And is it the only reward in attic?
4. How to complete Mechanist objective? I went there, but all doors are unfrobbable.
1. Vault code: Upstairs in the office is a hidden switch which reveals another switch. Frob it and it will reveal the code next to the bookcase.
2. Take a look in Brigandias appartment.
3. With the ladder you can cross over to the mechanists to finish your mission. Itīs the last place to go, cause itīs where the 2. mission starts.
Thanks, Samantha1, with your help I managed to beat Mission 1. It took me 3 hours and I gathered 8930 loot and didn't find any secret. Also I only found Vault key #1, so I couldn't complete optional objective. Overall all right mission. The biggest drawback for me is this tiny Vault code placed in really random spot and I would love to have hint about it's placement. Even with Samantha1 hint it took me 10 min to find it. I was seriously getting crazy. Maybe it was connected to lever she mentioned that disables alarm - after reopening painting this lever doesn't change position after launching alarm, so it was impossible for me to disable alarm after it got triggered. And if you go too fast with reopening painting lever may not show up. I missed item for teleporter. I blame shorter frob range as I checked this place before and to highlight it I needed to go more closely than I usually go. Mechanist objective confused me a lot - it didn't show up in my objective screen, but both Mechanist and Hammerite churches are on the map. So I was sure that I can explore these places. Also spooky house wasn't spooky for me, it actually looked rather weird. But fast zombie girl scared me a bit.
Just finished and I want to thank Beltzer and all who helped to put this together!! I had several hours of great thieving fun and a really good story to explore!!:cool:
Also just finished. Awesome mission! :thumb:

i got mirror download to work, and i started mission one :),runs better then i expected, great job and will update more as i get further in mission
already found one secret in room 12 in hotel/my fav year/also found hanging guy very sad letter,i hope i find this killer/raper,also found a dead girl close to wharehouses, the story is very good so far
need a bit of help for mission 1,where is vault key 1
Really enjoyed this one! Took my time and really absorbed the atmosphere. The soundtrack was on point. I only wish there could've been more places or rooms to explore. Hard to decide my favorite area, the haunted area was spectacular. Really liked the unique overhead lighting in the mechs on mission 2 and the shadows in the crypt.
The tribute was an extra nice touch!
Plenty of verticality and path choices too.
If I were going to make any criticism, I would say that sometimes the level design felt too grandiose or large to believe it was made for normal-sized people. That could also be taken as part of it's charm too I suppose.
I beat Mission 2 in 3 hours and got 6045 loot, 3 secrets and no Vault keys. I had big problem with getting urn in Catacombs. I knew that I need to use item on body, but it's really hard to find anything in this location with pitch black shadows. In the end I needed item from other place, but there is really no hint what you need to do anywhere. Mansion was huge. Mask protection felt weird as it's 3 unrelated to each other puzzles. You need to find way too well hidden key (I had a lot of luck finding it relatively quickly, because it's location feel unfair). Lever puzzle was the easiest, with a good hint too. And there is random shot into far away target. The hardest for me was loot objective. I spent 1 hour to check the whole city for 700 loot and I only found 2 places: one secret with just purse and other non secret with the rest of loot. It's weird, because both places are hard to get, but non secret place gives much better reward.
Also I never figured out how to bring murderer to jail. I managed to get there, but it's impossible to do it while carrying body. First you need to enter courthouse and to reach window I was forced to stack 4 healing potions. This can't be intended. Then there is this glass passage, which requires perfect strafe jumping, because glass breaks under your feet. But it's impossible to do it while carrying body. So I'm guessing there is some secret passage leading to jail.
Mission 3 was weird conclusion as I thought mask objective was the Garrett's main drive and Mechanist and murderer objectives were just sidequests. But this mission shows that one of these sidequests was the most important part of story.
Overall, I think this is your weakest mission so far. Some stuff necessary to beat missions is just way too well hidden and I wish there was more hints or existing hints would be better. Mission looks great visually and library puzzle was great. I had problem with noticing where can I rope up, because wood texture is very similar to stone texture. Also it's hard to know what floor is marble and what isn't (especially visible in bigger locations: temples, mansion, library). Ground in catacombs doesn't look like gravel, but for some reason it makes this noise. Also both missions have really huge number of unfrobbable doors. I know it's city mission, so unfrobbable door will be present, but it's much bigger amount than in any other city mission. There is many long corridors with unfrobbable doors and only 1 or 2 doors to open. The same story in Mechanist and Hammerite temples. Lonmore is really big city, but I think if it's size was lowered, then it would be possible to pack all the important places into one mission. This would also reduced number of unfrobbable doors and possibly lower lag I had when playing both missions.
Enjoyable campaign so far. I've been throughout the Mechanist cathedral and cannot find the diary. Spoil me please and thank you!
you can carry Piran's body just fine over the glass as long as you are crouched and stay close to the walls. just dont drop his body when on the glass - you will stand when you unload him.
I knew if I asked where it was I would find it. Found it within minutes of posting the question!! Thanks!
lordhern can i get a bit more of a hint for vault key #1,you said in a dark room with jewelry box,i check haunted place and nothing i also checked hotel and no luck ,,not sure where else i can go please tell me what part of map i should go please
@downwinder: check your PM's
ty lordhern, got it,mission 1 complete 10170/10795,2/5 secrets found one in room 12 in hotel and one in bank i think, where are other 3,might be able to perfect loot with the 3 missing :)
love the art in mission 1 a lot, only time i got any lag is if i look directly at the fog in open area's,over all love the story so far,on to mission 2 now :)
Been exploring in Mission 2, but I've got a little stuck.
I still need to
1. Get the urn. Should I have read something on how to do it? I guess the Holy hammer plays a part.
2. Find the killer. I've been to his apartment, but seem to be the only one who can't find his secret room
3. I have both keys and went back to the bank via the top window, but the room is now empty. guess I need to get down to the window I opened in M1. But how?
Jumping across that glass walkway was tough and I notice there is now a chimney missing from the house with the pointy roof where you come off the metal pipes leading from the smashed balcony. Why is that?
1. Your on absolutely the right track - did you investigate the tombs on the level with the bbb memorial? I didn't find any written clue.
2. You need to inspect the bookcase in his apartment more closely
3. You're right about the window - can't remember exactly where it is on the map but you need to go ledge crawling outside at the bottom of the labrynth of air vents IIRC Edit: Vents entrance on building roof with greenhouse.
Beltzer, congratulations on the release! Glad you're still creating missions.
Great ambient :thumb:
I have no problem with constructive criticism. You made it clear that its a shitty game :) But hey, no problem.
But its just a game. It does not have to be that lifelike :) And its not perfect either.
And as i have pointed out earlier, its not that easy to satisfy everyone. And, have more fun making games that
i would have liked to play. And as i wrote in the first post, i may have shitty taste :)
Thanks Soul Tear :)
I also want to say thank you to pwl, prjames, Corsair and HauntHunter. I'm glad you liked it :)
Hey Beltzer Thief 2 came out two decades ago so things may not always work out perfectly so don't worry about it!! This set of missions was as you say are just a game and we appreciate your efforts, I had a great time exploring it!
Frequent crashes when loading/saving (basically every time)
objects that are intended to be solid, are not (guards can see you through furniture, and shoot you through it).
Seems decent otherwise.
OK :) Thanks for the input.
Too bad you had bad experiences. I have not heard anything about "Frequent crashes when loading/saving" before.
Are you sure that its not problems at your end?
And the other stuff, the testers did not say anything about that either. Too bad.
Wow, that shows how far opinions differ. For me this is one of beltzers best missions, Iīm definitely going to replay it at least 10 times, just like the sister and the favour :cheeky:. The biggest plus point for me is as I already said the story, the eye-candy and of course: thieves highway :DQuote:
Overall, I think this is your weakest mission so far.
For me your weakest mission/campaign so far was the reunification arc, which goes without saying cause it were your first missions. And even of those I found lord beltzerīs mansion amazing. The other one I didnīt like much was the Mortuos Liber campaign, because of the forced ghosting with barely any shadows. But then again thatīs only my taste, others love to ghost. Iīm a typical garrett-like thief: I like to bash peopleīs heads when coming out of a shadow :D
All in all I hope you make many more missions like this :) I was super hyped for it and did not get disappointed in the least :thumb:
I agree with Samantha, I think overall it's Beltzer's most accomplished mission, a large thieves highway map with loads of exploring, a strong plot that has both Mechanists and Hammerites in it but without being a Faction oriented mission, nasty perv to find and deal with, quite a clever puzzle in the library, spooky house done nicely, catacombs even better IMO, and I loved the look of the Mechanist building (great use of hi-res poly textures) and of course he managed to include a very tasteful homage to bbb.
I do appreciate some players really don't like hi-res poly textures, but there's room for both vanilla and hi poly texture missions, so I don't think anyone should mark a mission down for the style the author chooses, but I don't think anyone has done that here. However I do think one of the problems all authors are faced with nowadays is after 1500 missions trying to find novel ways to challenge players must be a challenge itself, come on, in RL who the hell would have a glass walkway between the courthouse and the jail knowing that just one look at the glass and you'll plummet to your death.
I would give this campaign 7.5/10 (maybe 8), it was a good fun classic style Thief experience with a few novel experiences, a decent map that has clearly given a lot of people a good few hours of enjoyment and at the end of the day you can't ask for more really.
Second mission
Is there a key for the grate in the sewers? The one after the big brown pipe?
I'm also loving it so far, has some of my favourite elements, highway that looks real, good looking objects, good flow as you move around, good ambience and eerie at the same time..
Of course, THAT window, at court house...I managed to jump in on my third attempt but I landed before I had the time to estimate the height and I lost 1 health... So I reloaded and tried it again and again and again for the next 10 minutes in vain.
And when I was furius and thought to use the fly key I thought.... jeasus...I bet that also has wood somewhere.. Oh, and I freaking loved the red eyed lady's house in mission 1.
Well, as it almost always happens....tan-tah!!! The key! on a rather novel, but still, quite logical place to be well played!
Beltzer,
Thanks for this incredible mission. :thumb:
It is just great!
Great graphics, great story & great gameplay. :D
Thanks sagittal.
1. I'd never have thought to use the hammer there!
2. Got it! I found that difficult to spot.
3. Found that vent earlier and forgot all about it.
All done now, except I'm about 800 short on loot. I must have missed some serious stuff somewhere. Thought I'd been everywhere.
So I've returned to meet with Brigantia at her apartment in Mission 2. The chimney is now blocked off and I can't get into her apartment. Am I missing something?
a bit of help please where is this holy hammer located,i must have pasted it up in either hammer place or catacombs?also on a weird note the key i got for the mask room disappeared so i am not able to open the gate to get mask i am sure it must just be a glitch but not sure how it happen, also found the bbb tomb, very nice i hope others also add Easter egg room/etc for him
haunt i can help go there after you done everything else except go home,it becomes final object to finish mission 2
The holy hammer is hanging on a wall in one of the priests' rooms. I think it's the room that needs a key which is worn on the appropriate priest's belt. His name was Tri...something, I think.
About the key to the mask room: Did you, perhaps, use the key already, and did it vanish then? One of three iron gates there will go up with that key, the other ones are opened in a different way.
The way to reach Brigantia in the last mission is different from the one in mission 1. In mission 2, you have to leave the Hammer compound by an iron gate in the southwest. You need a key to open the gate. You will arrive near Brigantia's home shortly after the iron gate.
reply about mask room key,i just frobed key from guard, then knocked him out, then finished clearing the rooms,by the time i got to mask room it was gone ,i went back to the guard and refrobed him wondering if i somehow missed it,but its gone, did not use on any door/gates,so i am not sure, thank you on hammer info
just finished series and wow i love it ,the art is amazing, adventure very good, love the story, loved the textures all over mission, the rose in the soap, yes i noticed that ,jeweled bathroom mirrors, also mission 2 the pools on roof design in bottom wow,and so much more when you take the time to stop after clearing an area and just absorb the surroundings,2/5 secrets on both missions :) so mission 3 on each
a funny side note on mission 3 i was following the hammers and one of the mechs saw me and launched a projectile and hit me,good thing the hammers were fast or i might have died :P
ohh almost forgot found dewdrop in mission 2 under bed in room with 2 dolls, thank you beltzer amazing job
my only gripe is no original textured healing fruits in series, yes i found the massively updated version, but the flavor was not the same :P
Possibly check your system ram. I have had random issues playing on some of my VM's over the last two years. I took advantage of a forced ESXi reboot to update firmware to actually run memory tests - it turned out that I had two banks with bad ram (ECC memory only gets me so far). Once I removed the marginal memory I no longer had Thief FM crashes.
is britania the naked corpse of a woman ?
ok i'm standing beside teh naked corpse of a woman . hwere's the rigt way to Britania from there?
