Looking for Volunteers to help with CoSaS/MX

Before you read this, you should read this post and then come back.

We’d really like to be in “alpha” for Mission X by the end of August. However, to actually do this, we’re going to need help. Our school workloads are just getting worse and worse; there’s just no way getting around it.

There are actually four quest/scripting entities which could be created independently from Yametha’s work on the main quest.

This isn’t a call for new team members. Actually the hope is that some volunteers who would like a bit of a break from whatever they are working on, could dedicate just 1-2 weeks to Mission X, and help get a big chunk of the quest in place. All tasks are fully documented and most (if not all) of required objects and media for these objectives have already been created (with some minor exceptions).

Once complete, the author of that quest would be invited back once we’re in ‘Alpha’ to test of course, but other than that you’re free! This is a short term commitment but still a commitment – we’d be asking you to complete a specific task by a specific time. If we can get four people each willing to dedicate 1-2 weeks to get each task done then we should have no problem getting to Alpha by the end of August.

Here are brief spoiler free descriptions of each task. If you’re interested in one, let us know, and we’ll get in touch with you for more information about each task. No part of the mission is completely isolated though, so understand that no matter how isolated each of these tasks are, each will still require a complete understanding of the entire mission in order to put them in properly.

I’m still going to spoiler all of this out though for those of you who really, really don’t want to be spoiled even a tiny bit.

spoiler:
Task 1, codename; "Yaw"
Difficulty Rating: 1
- Placement of objects
- Document setup
- Hints system setup
- Ai scripting
- Complex objectives scripting
Place a quest which involves the collection of non-loot items with varying degrees of success possible.

spoiler:
Task 2, codename; "Pitch "
Difficulty rating: 2
- Placement of objects
- Document setup
- Hints system setup
- Audio cue scripting
- Player/world interaction scripting.
- Objectives scripting
Place an optional, non-linear Murus-like quest. Various sundry tasks each of which would offer indirect rewards not immediately apparent.

spoiler:
Task 3, codename; "Roll"
Difficulty rating: 3
- Placement of objects
- Document setup
- Hints system setup
- Objectives scripting
Place an optional quest which involves deductive reasoning and investigation to reach a conclusion, and then acting on it.

spoiler:
Task 4 , codename; “Eject!”
Difficulty rating: 5
- Placement of AIs
- Complex dialog scripting
Finish two already mostly in place conversation events.

I really hope those with time and sufficient skill will apply for these tasks, like I mentioned in another thread yesterday MissionX is really amazing and needs to be in the hands of the FM community as soon as it can get done (with the level of quality you'd all expect of course). I urge anyone with a few weeks to spare to jump in and take one or more of these projects.

what i need to know, as that i have the resource pack, is what needs to be done, jumping in and not knowing what is the desired goal is tough, you say, completing the hint system, but in what stage is it, and how was it done before, i lack some amount of knowledge due to a lack of time in the project. that makes it daunting. i'll open up icq sometime and try to catch digi for some conversations about this.

Well it's good to see that at least some projects are thoroughly organized. If the Imperium project doesn't shape up with some propper rethinking I might apply for a position.

We weren't always so, Mortal Monkey, and the project certainly would have died if we hadn't re-thought our way of doing things, and became strictly organized.

And you wouldn't have to leave Imperium to help us out. We just ask 1-2 weeks from volunteers.
