    Bioshock preorder - Due 4/3/07!

Last night I decided to pre-order Bioshock at Gamestop. They said that the game would be arriving on 4/3/07. I can't wait to get it, bring it home, install it, PLAY IT, and then put the original packaging behind glass for all to see (but not touch!)...

Anyone else already have their pre-orders in? Frankly, it will be worth every penny, just like System Shock 2 was worth every penny when I bought it in 1999.

The official date is probably May 31st, then. When a developer or publisher says that a game will be released in quarter X or month Y, it generally means "last working day of quarter X or month Y, I noticed. Still, that's six months left for me to buy a new computer for Bioshock and the other games that come out in the first half of '07 that I want.

why not buy an XBOX!! plenty of cool games coming out for this system and not for the PC.

the ONLY console I'm going to buy is the NINTENDO WII because of its
controller (which can be used on the PC (!!!!!)) and the new interaction
    with games coming from it.

consoles, i don't know, but they suck ( IMHO ), never could get those
funny controlers to respond in a timely fashion. and even if the PC is
much more expensive when you buy your first one (the next gets cheaper,
since u can reuse parts) the PC-games ARE MUCH CHEAPER and drop much
quicker in price. at least in my part of the world.
    i buy my pc-games for 20-35 €.
never saw an xbox360 title for that money.

and i think for multiplayer PC is still the king:

ENEMY TERRITORY QUAKE WARS (pc only)
    CRYSIS (pc only)

and please don't come up with GEARSofWAR, that's just an tech-demo for UE3
and when i played it at my friends I nearly fell asleep during the stupid
oldschool, dummy, "duck-popup-shoot-duck-routine", dumb AI, generic
    macho-holligan plot.

first off, don't say that something sucks without any valid basis. if you want to go down that road, then, YOU suck!!!!

but, if you want to be mature, then yes, there are good games for both the PC and the XBOX, BUT at present there are more new-generation games coming out for the console. I have a new PC and I have and XBOX, and i am definately getting Bioshock for the XBOX (more user friendly).

Ans last, Gears of War is a great game and I am sure the next two follow-ups will be even better.

    Stay cool

IMHO = in my humble opinion

you know what that means ?
im MY opinion, which is subjective since it's mine.
so if i can't help finding controller schemes suck and are inferior
    to an keyboard+mouse setup it's my opinion/experience
and i see the prices for controller games in the stores.
so we have 2 points, one subjective one objective.

and you cannot argue that GearsOfWar has ANYTHING new than fancy graphics.
all the design choices are old hat.
like DOOM tried to fool you with new gameplay (we now have VERY BLACK
SHADOWS ) GOW does the same.
if you wanna point out good console games, try pikmin for the ps or the upcoming Assassins Creed

And Assassin's Creed is going to be on PC, so it's not just a good console game. *dances*

That's only a week or two after my summer vacation begins, I love ya if that release date comes true.

There is no reason for consoles to exist. A PC can do everything a console can do. Cost used to be in favor of consoles, but most people own a PC anyway and with 60 dollar console games and 400-600 dollar consoles, even that advantage is going away. You're entitled to your opinion, but I really don't understand it. Please explain in more detail why you like consoles.

I hate them, and I don't understand people who don't. Chances are I hold high prejudice against people who love them.

The way I see it is that consoles are convinient and perfect for a care-free gaming moment where certain kind of people sit down in their rocking chair and feel like looking at some graphics, nothing else, nothing more. These people don't care what game they're playing and if they do, they certainly don't care about the content of the game. As long as the models look trendy and the graphics are nice, they're happy. This is only an opinion, thus it is not wrong. I won't accept any flames kthxbye

EDIT: sry I almost forgot. Super Mario Bros is where it all got started, and that was an amazing game, so I do like the old 8-bit consoles. The ones that are out there today are just computers squeezed in a small plastic box.

We really don't want to have to open up a POW camp for Console Warriors, but it's not completely out of the realm of possibility.

I frankly wasn't very trusting of the "April 3" release date. At least my preorder assured me that I'll have a copy when it comes out. I was hoping that by posting, I could get some responses as well as the official word from 2K. Mission accomplished!

I wonder if David's new 'location' tag just means that he's really excited about BioShock ... or is it a subtle clue that he's alpha-testing?

Sadly no, it was just better than a domain I haven't updated in over a year

However if Irrational want some testing I am right there

sorry if i contributed to an seemingly ever ongoing pc-console war.

here's something for the console crowd:

    Nintendo WII rocks !

first good "new" console ever: small, cheap, brilliant controller-idea and hopefully
many developers will embrace it. as soon as the price drops and there are
good bundles out there i will buy one. AND YOU CAN USE THE CONTROLLER
    on the PC, too (bluetooth).

my friend owns one and we started ZELDA and Wii Sports, it's FUN!!!!!!
but still no substitue for good old mouse in precision aiming and
    lightning-quick reaction times

Since you guys just WON’T let this issue go and enjoy wasting time bickering over what’s better: consoles or pc’s, here’s my LAST word on it.

    TO Mothra:

Do you know what HUMBLE means (in IMHO)? It means to be modest in your views and I wouldn’t consider words like “Sucks” as modest nor constructive.

Do you know what PC stands for?? Personal Computer! How about Gaming Console? Yes, you got it: a console is specifically manufactured for GAMES!
This is not to say there shouldn’t be games for PCs. I have been playing PC games since their inception. Actually I’ve probably played the very first PC game ever made, but that’s another story.
My point is this. Gaming consoles have been made specifically to entertain and have recently become more and more successful at delivering a full-on theatrical gaming experience (with great visuals and sound). They are easy to use, and for those who don’t have top-notch PCs, they don’t require one to go upgrade every time a new game comes out. Also, the spectrum of games being made for the Consoles is much much larger. As for controls, I really don’t mind using a game-pad instead of a mouse (which again, was not designed for playing but for working!) Moreover, staring at the computer screen and hunching over a keyboard is really not too good for your health (an eye doctor and a chiropractor will confirm both of these points). Instead, you can sit back, comfortably on your couch, watch a high definition TV and part-take in a real, immersed gaming experience.

And lastly,(TO Qooper) I really should be ignoring this but saying things like: “Chances are I hold high prejudice against people who love them (consoles)”…….well that’s just silly and childish.

Frankly I am slightly disappointed with this board. I came here to share views/anticipation about Bioshock; instead I am trying to explain some rudimentary things about gaming mediums.

    Respectfully

The thing about consoles, while you don't have to upgrade, the games have to be more and more optimized. It is amazing how they made Doom 3 run on the XBox even though it looks utter crap on it for example.

I have nothing against consoles except that they are one of the reasons why my favorite gaming system is slowly fading out of the industry.

gamepads were designed for gaming consoles
    Respectfully
    wow. just wow

IMHO => i will not use it anymore, u r right. sorry.

so a mouse cannot be better than a gamepad cause it was intended for another purpose..............???
    well, it is IMSO

you have to hunch over a keyboard infront of an pc cause it was intended
to break your back or results in breaking it.......
there's no way to sit down laid back or in the right way with an kb+m combi.....
well, I think you can. thanks to long cables, wireless kbs/mice, good desks and chairs.

HD-Tvs have a better picture and don't hurt your eyes....

hmmm, depends on the price. i would argue that an affordable hd-tv (mostly LCD) is the worst thing i ever saw and my "old" CRT monitor which can handle
1600x1200@120Hz and has almost no smearing/ghosting (=LCD,plasma) and no rastering (=LCD) and even better picture even for movies than LCD-TVs is much cheaper and of the same if not superior quality/value/whatever.
don't know about plasma, but they are very expensive here.
wait, this would mean to enjoy a gaming console without having eye-fatigue
you have to have a top-notch HD-TV. well, thank god these TVs are sooooo
    cheap.....

    blahblahblah

this will lead nowhere, so let's bury the hatchet and dig up / discuss things about bioshock.

i will keep the emotional adjectives at an minimum and end the console comments.
