In this month's Official PlayStation Magazine UK they have a whole page article on BioShock confirming it on PS3. Sadly there is no link to an online site
Anyone from Irrational or Take2 care to comment?
And everyone else is this a good thing or a bad thing, bearing in mind it is already slated for the 360? Does multi-platform development reduce quality? Do we expect to see more multi-platform games as the cost for developing increases?
System Shock, Ultima Underground I and II, Terra Nova, Thief I and II, on and on - and all PC releases.
Now, when we know it's on X-Box and then learn it's going to be on PS3 all we can say is 'will this affect the quality?'
Where's the outrage that there has been no mention of a PC version? are we giving up on PC games so easily?!
And where's the debate that used to exist about a game appearing on ANY console would mean it would not be as deep and be more 'action' orientated?!
I mean, look at Dues Ex II versus Deus Ex and Oblivion versus Morrowind.
Here we are, the first day of 2007 and it seems to me PC gaming, in so many ways, is already dead. Especially when a site that can have threads on the above mentioned titles doesn't even bother to ask the 'PC' question.
If that's from this month's magazine, why are they behind on calling it BioShock, not Bioshock? I've a feeling that's an old article from way back and it's since been canned.
Would like official confirmation though.
:edit:
Hang on, it even says as much in entertainer's link:
Some readers dug a bit further and discovered that this was actually a scan from a September issue of OPM. If you read about this here earlier or saw it on Digg or read it on Maxconsole, be assured this is not from a current issue of the magazine. There are no current plans to bring Bioshock to the PS3 as of yet. Thanks to you guys who pointed this out.
I'm getting the PC version of Bioshock so this isn't really a concern of me. But I do hope it's released for PS3 some day in the future aswell. The larger the potential audience is, the better. It would mean more $$$ for Irrational Games and they deserve it, and possibly need it, for making similiar games in the future.
And seeing how it's already developed for one console, another one won't hurt one bit.
It wouldn't? Oh yea that's right, consoles don't differ by much so it's all too easy.
And then presumably more crumbs will come down to Irrational to allow them to make more profits for the shareholders.
Without going into any confidential details, Take Two has been quite generous to all of us at Irrational, and shows every sign of continuing to be so if BioShock is successful.

Wow, more info from members of the bioshock team. AlexxKay is like a superhero.
Hey guys, I just wanted to give you the official word about this from 2K.
Recent rumors of a PS3 version of BioShock are based on a speculative and outdated magazine article from September 2006. Since 2K's announcement later that month, BioShock is exclusive to the Xbox 360 and Windows platforms and there are no plans to release BioShock on additional platforms.
Spread the word!
December 28 holidays and observances:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/December_28Calendar of Saints - Feast of the Holy Innocents, also known as Childermas, commemorating the Massacre of the Innocents on order of king Herod the Great. In Spain and Latin American countries the festival is celebrated in a manner similar to April Fool's Day.
Not so dead, don't worry

I think Qooper is not talking about changing code or getting things to fit the hardware or whatever, but is talking about the gameplay itself, and any changes that might have to be made in that area. Both PS3 and XBOX 360 use gamepads, so no changes in the way the game itself plays have to be made between that 360 and PS3 version, although I realize you are right about the 360-PC and 360-PS3 differences.
One of my friends' parents works for a games company producing the music, i dont know if it is 2k or the other 1 , but when i told him i was waiting for Bioshock to buy on the 360 he told me that where he is working there are people converting it for the PS3 and that if i wanted i could go up and play one of the test versions they have running. That settles that then.
