Nice job, Elizabeth!![]()

Yep![]()
So according to this http://www.2kgames.com/cultofrapture...ario101/t7.jpg
you need a plasmid just to hack in the first place, but there are additional ones that can assist you?
(might have already been mentioned, I'm losing track of stuff)
so we can conclude that hacking will pause the game (go full-screen), otherwise it would be a bit tricky to go hacking with a pipe wielding maniac on your back![]()
Looks like we'll be treated to a bunch of vidsThough I guess we'll have to wait two weeks each time.
The "Now that I've shot him in the leg, run away" solution is conspicuously absent.
Running away is not a final solution to this kind of problems.
What I would do:
Jump behind the counter to save some time. Then remove the gun and prepare the Electro Bolt plasmid (unless you can have both the gun and plasmid ready at the same time).
(I read from somewhere that the Electro Bolt plasmid only kills people if the enemy is standing in water so I need to find water.)
Being behind the counter should offer me a couple of seconds to study my surroundings. From there I would search for the nearest pool of water. If I can't find any, I would retrace my way to the nearest patch of water I know. After I know which way to go, I jump back to the other side of the counter and start running like mad to the pool of water. If I see any other enemies I try lure to trail me as well. The more the merrier.
Once they step on the water, the trap is layed and I get to use the plasmid. Hopefully I get atleast two guys down with the shot. In the end I'll have one extra bullet and I don't have to worry about the security bots homing in on me if I fail the hack (and I can still hack the security bot after the guy is dead).
But it would let you re-group
I was thinking the same thing...
I saw the bot, but it didn't occur to me to hack it since I thought that that would be done in real time.
I did however spot the pipe in the backround of the first screenshot, and since I can be a little obsessive compulsive about holding on to my resources, my first course of action would probably be to make for the pipe while he was still reeling from the gun-shot, and try to use the pipe to knock him backwards towards the balcony (if the hits didn't kill him the fall might) If he's particularly dangerous, I might try to find some way to manipulate him towards the balcony, so that I can reduce the time I'm at risk from his attack. Although having said that, if he did fall (if that's in fact possible (I thought I saw that happening in one of the thumbnails)) I'd loose all the resources he might have, so I'd probably want to keep him away from the edge (if there is one).
As for hacking the bot. It looks a little expensive, although if it would follow me around, it seems like it could be a pretty cheap source of bullets/friendly-fire, especially if I could keep it alive/intact.

So, is hacking done just based on percentages and clicking the button? Also, it seems like it is not real time. I think it would be cool if it were real time but maybe could be done very quickly, so that the same kind of thing could be done. Oh well. It doesn't matter that much. Awesome screens and contest idea! I can't wait to see the video for this one. Is this one gonna take two weeks to be posted even if there is no contest for it?
I'm guessing that's in fact the 'pre-hack' screen. At least according to an old interview, I got the impression it required actual effort- fiddling with screwdrivers and whatnot.
Cheers
I guess I meant 'supporting fire'
It's apparently going to be a minigame.
I agree-- totally cool. I want the next one right now.
How many entries do you think they'll get? I wonder if it's worth me submitting my ideas. I live in the U.K. so I'm not sure if they'd kind of just ignore me because of the postage hassles, but I totally want a BioShock t-shirt.
(It's only $9.50 for a large-sized, fixed-rate, global-priority-mail envelope (I wouldn't mind paying the postage))
Are there extra prizes for creative solutions?
I think you can email them.
Oh man, that's awesome. I think it is, anyway. It's a fun game, and it actually fits Rapture pretty well.
I assume this means that the game will be paused while the player is on these kinds of menu screens; a bit disappointing for the SS2 fans if true, but definitely easier to cope with for the mainstream.
I must admit that the hacking doesn't look what I expected it to look. To be honest it looks extremely goofy. I hope they have somekind of a backstory to what the player is doing while hacking to make it look somewhat realistic/understandable.
Not that I dislike those pipe building games, but I was hoping for wires and electrical stuff to mess around with.
Clearly a loss of tension, but we'll win challenge : hacking system in SS2 wasn't challenging at all. I found this disappointing compared to SS1 minigames.
In thief 1 & 2, lockpicking wasn't a minigame but I found it great for tension and quit fun to play with. T: DS crashed hard with its own lockpicking interface.
In a submerged world, I think water pressure may be a useful and quite infinite physic force so it fits well. But I agree it looks too game-ish (grid, icons and on...)
Or maybe the game won't pause at all when you're hacking.![]()
It reminds me of the grid puzzles from SS1 to an extent, and the nodes from SS2 also.
