Looks like we'll finally get to see some gameplay on Thursday on the next episode of GametrailersTV.
This Thursday GTTV will world premiere the first gameplay footage of BioShock 2. See the Big Sister in action, Thursday at 12:30 on Spike
Hmm... needed less spicer fighting and much much more underwater fun.
Bioshock was a joke as a survival horror, how can it be less of a joke if you're a Big Daddy now(more health, better weapons, etc.)?
Well, at least it still looks pretty.
Looks pretty cool.
Framerate goes down at the end of the video?
Looks like a joke to me.I want to see the real Bioshock 2 and not this nonsense (well at least the underwater part is nice, I have to admit).
Half-Life 2 fails as survival horror. I also didn't really care for the survival horror aspect of Deus Ex, if I have to be honest here.
Edit: And that trailer looks awesome. I also like the idea of actively chasing something that's going to maul your face off whenever you catch it.
nothing new to see here except the "you can now swim".
big daddy is very agile for a fat-ass-tank.
i wanna know if they revamped the plasmid system, incoroporated more limitations to make your choices have more impact, if there are better and different ways to tackle a situation apart from "shoot in the face" and if choices play into the storyline or if it's just linear again. levelsize ? more openness ? well, guess not, atm it looks like a expansion, not a new game.
why change a working game ? they made a ton of money with the old one, I guess they even keep the activation limits
I'd imagine that if you didn't like Bioshock you probably wouldn't like the sequel, although you might want to follow the build up to the release just so you can break out the same 3 criticisms over and over again and/or bitch about how let down you feel post-release.
If they do it right, the ability to swim could make up for some really dynamic gameplay.
Somehow I really doubt that there is going to be any swimming. The big daddy is going to be completely amphibious, and completely tied to the ground. All that will happen is that he'll be able to walk around in areas that are underwater. That's cool, yes, but it's not the same as swimming.
That's my guess, anyway.
This still feels like a Stand-Alone-Expansion and not a Sequel. Wish they had removed the "2" from the title and not "Sea of Dreams" (which they argued was the name of the teaser movie, not of the game.)
Activation limits were removed quite some time ago. Even if BS2 ships with a limited number of activations, I'd expect 2K to do the same as they've done with the original and uncap after some months.
Suddenly I'm really excited about this. Swimming sucks but walking underwater is something I've wanted to do ever since I saw that Big Daddy outside in the first game. And Tennenbaum's back; Rapture's gonna be post-post-apocalyptic, which is damn cool.
Since when could either Bioshock and Half-Life 2 be considered of the Survival Horror genre? Never.
Sure Bioshock tries to scare u...but they fail...miserably...The only stage that scared me was the Medical Pavilion and that proly cause its the first stage >.>
Anyway the new demo looks good I so wanted the dual wielding plasmid plus gun in the first one...And i hope they made plasmids better to teh extent where u cant run thru the whole game with ur pistol out.
I'm not so sure BioShock tried to scare the player. "Tried to be spooky" is probably a better description. Anyway, I don't think "survival horor" is defined only with "try to scare you".
You folks do realise that JM was taking a poke at Koki's misguided attempt at criticism with his post, right?
It looks awful. Well actually it looks lovely, but then so did the original. But it looks really boring and just a rehash of the BS1.
If they wanted good ideas they should have read Scot's post in his thread on the boards here somewhere.
Fuck them for actually employing some effective atmospheric things that totally failed in the first one but keeping the same shit gameplay and bullshit design. I bet that sequence with the glass happens early in the game. It just continues to highlight how wrong they got certain things.
That moment with the water seeping in through the cracks was awesome, unfortunately for a floaty big daddy on rollerskates it didn't seem to be too much of a worry so there goes any inherent tension after that happens the first time.
Also, I thought the effects of the windows shattering looked like utter ass but once he was underwater it looked pretty damn amazing.
Fuck them.
YEAH FUCK THEM
Yeah, but you frequently don't know what the fuck.
I will say that, while it looks pretty dull (particularly the very tedious 'get rushed in an arena' style bit which I hated from the first) I do try to remember, when I groan about scripted sequences, that Thomas seems to do constructed stuff very well so that might not be so bad overall.
