Any old Amiga users out there?

Since it's just past the Amiga's 15th birthday and as it's still my favourite home computer (IMO the best ever designed) I am offering no prize whatsoever to the first person who can tell me who Michie and Joe Pillow were

(sits back and waits for no response at all )

No, but I was definitely an old Amiga owner. My 500's in the basement and I have the 2000 warmed up and ready for use. The first game I ever got (and is also both "The Game I Have Never Beaten and Probably Won't" and is in the best shape of all my Amiga games) was Shadow of the Beast. I still think the graphics on that are better than some side-scrollers released today. Too bad I was still just an ignorant child when I had it and broke my copies of Space Quest III, Ultima III, and Sword of Sodan (anyone remember that one?). BTW, anyone know where I can get copies of those? I think SQ3 for Amiga is the best edition.

If that's the one that used the same engine as Driller, then I used to until the great coffee disaster of '97

Sob. So many games I wanted but never had.

I've just got Dungeon Master (thans Stitch666) for the PC though.

I still want Dragons Breath though.

Still have a 3000. It is in my closet however. I still think fondly on Marble Madness and Chaos Engine.

Amiga talk always brings a tear to my eye. : ) I got my Amiga 1000 when there weren't many on the market yet -- it wasn't my first computer, but it was certainly the one I remember most (heck, I still hook it up from time to time). An amazing system, considering I got it in 1985 and it really wasn't surpassed by PC until into the early '90s. I spent many hours playing games like Sword of Sodan, Blood Money (the psygnosis games were the best), and Marble Madness.

    Sigh. . . I need to install an emulator now. : )

YES!!! "Blood Money" and the other Psygnosis games were so bad-ass! I, however, played them on the Atari ST. About the only other games I really liked from then were "Gods" and "Projectyle", along with anything Psygnosis did. Didn't they do one about Baal or something like that?

Yeah, Baal was by them, too (as were the previously mentioned Shadow of the Beast games, which I always wanted but never got to play -- to this day, though, I still really want to play them).

Anybody know of any good Amiga emulation sites?

Also, did anybody suscribe to Jumpdisk? It was an electronic magazine for Amiga that came out monthly and had lots of game on it in general. . . I actually remember spending a lot of time playing those games, too.

Try playing Alien Breed and entering Atari ST into the computer ( the in-game upgrade dispenser) for more entertainment, try IBM at the same place

Ah, all these Amiga users are the enemy to us, the pure paladins of Atari! Oh, I remember when I upgraded to 1 megabyte of RAM! The power!

And I remember loading TOS from disk. I still use my ST to play Arkanoid II, with my TV as monitor. It would have been an Amiga, but Atari was cheaper.

*sigh*... I wish I could have one, even if I didn't plug it in, just to look at it. The sight of that picture does bring back so many fond, fond memories...

As does that green desktop. LOL! They named the trash can "Amiga"! Yes, the enemy... Laughing at those IBM users spending over $1,000 on an almost empty box that they had to upgrade to do half the graphics we could do...

You had one and threw it away? Like my old pals from the past, they lost their youth doing that.

Actually, I never actually owned one - my parents were too poor. Somewhere stashed away I should have a 130XE that was my baby. My best friend at the time, however, who I saw on a daily basis, had (and I think still has) the ST.

Ahhh! Arati, enemy of the Amiga! Arrrrh!

Allen Hastings did some very cool animation on Lightwave showing nice helicopters blowing up the "Arati Corporation", with nothing but smoking ruins left in their wake...

The Atari ST was ok, but the Amiga was better
The really stupid thing is that Atari had the chance to own Amiga but let Commodore (burn in hell corporate scum) walk off with it.

Haha Shadow Of The Beast...I'm friends with the guy that programmed that game. It was his first. The only other person who worked on it was the artist...fun guy.

He worked on some of the Dragon's Lair ports, and i think he's doing another version of jeopardy!

Needless to say, he's very tired of programming games. :P
