Fucking Christ, calm down. Timmy Tencent is just a common nickname for Epic/Tim Sweeney. You speculated, I gave you a likely answer dictated by common sense. Of course the likes of MS/Soyny/etc are paying publishers/studios in order to giveaway games on their online services. Eg PSN+, Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Games with Gold.

How can TW Shogun 2 not be available in Japan?
The first Shogun is the TW that I played the most back in the day.

    That seems dumb.

I also played loads of TW, but stopped because of the arrow inequality nonsense.

I just got this free sequel and I hope it's not the same.

    Epic: Death Coming

Next week is a mystery game. They usually advertise the giveaway game a week in advance, so it might be a bigger game.

It's Grant Theft Auto V Premium Edition, available until the 21st of May. The one after that is a mystery as well.

...and the store crashed right away and looks like it's still mostly down.

Meanwhile, though, Humble is giving away Aegis Defenders, some kind of a platforming tower defence game: https://www.humblebundle.com/store/a...ders-free-game

It's quasi tower defense. I backed that on KS ages ago. Played once, and found it mildly entertaining. Not a real attention grabber.

I say quasi, as sure you place defenses, but you move a character around shooting the incoming enemies as well. So more like Orcs Must Die except 2D side view and with a JRPG art style.

All those amazing giveaways by the Epic store creep me out. Feels too much like Hansel & Gretel.

Note: This is The Handsome Collection, which consists of Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel and assorted DLC for these.

Does not include Borderlands 1 or 3.

What's really funny about it is when they started hiding these giveaways, me and another guy were speculating what the games would be, and our top three picks were Civ 6, Borderlands Handsome Collection, and Far Cry 5, even in that order.... Just because of course it would be those games.

Hilariously, so far we're 2 for 2. If the third one turns out to be Far Cry 5, then we nailed the hat trick.

It's practically a case of Poe's Law because you could pick those games as a joke (think of the most stereotypical games that would, e.g., plaster itself in the most obnoxious way on the front page of Steam when it's doing some kind of campaign), but they're also what you'd really expect, what you'd bet money on in all seriousness.

There was a leak a while ago, actually. It looks like the next one will be ARK: Survival Evolved.

Ooohh, so the other guy may have known the next one was Borderlands then.
Ok, well then, I independently guessed Civ 6 would be the first one then, and I agreed with him on Borderlands next, and then Far Cry 5 was anyway my mistaken guess if it's ARK after all.
I can see that ARK game as part of that crowd, as in the way it'd be festooned on the front page of Steam, but still it's a 2nd tier contender.
Not that that's going to stop me from yoinking it.
