DLC mini-expansion #2: The Pitt Screens

I've yet to play Operation: Anchorage, I'm still quite early into the game. I'll purchase this content at a later date, maybe at the same time as the third pack which raises the level cap and let's you play after End Game.

Bethesda formally welcomes you to post-apocalyptic Pittsburgh, PA, with three new screenshots from the upcoming Fallout 3 add-on The Pitt. Did somebody say auto-axe?

The Pitt content opens with the players responding to a desperate radio message. Someone in The Pitt has created a cure for mutations, and the player must travel there and retrieve it from the leader of the settlement at all costs. From there the choice on how to proceed is up to the you. Do you side with the slaves of The Pitt or their raider overlords? How about just going in with your rotary auto-axe blazing?

I hope this DLC is better than Anchorage, which bored me silly after about 2 hours. Never even finished it. Those screens look promising though.

After about 2 hours you should have been able to finish OA.

I think I just creamed my jeans.

Edit: Although uh, having a "welcome to pittsburgh" sign on the 10th street bridge is a little odd, since you'd already be in the city.

Well, I was thinking maybe it's the alternate history, where south side/north side never become part of the city. Although that wouldn't explain why the buildings there are all stuff that was built after history would have diverged (as badass as the ruins of PPG place may be).

Never mind the cityscape, it would need to have gay guys working in steel mills to be authentic.

If it's an expansion of decent depth, i.e. a decent dose of freedom and a seasoning of RPG, I'll definitely buy this. Operation Anchorage sounded like shit in a shoebox.

What the fuck is that thing on the steps of the cathedral of learning?

Also, holy shit, Pitt campus is in the DLC.

Apparently it rolled out with some corrupted/missing media assets. Go-go Bethesda QA!

    This is completely normal.

strange floating red exclamation points where textures should be.
At least Jorge was nicer to look at.

I dunno, I might be swayed into buying it. But later on, I just got Mass Effect yesterday, and I still haven't had time to even install it.

I've yet to even play Operation: Anchorage. I'm scared to play it since it might prematurely level up my character to such a point that the main game ain't fun any more, due to a lack of challenge.

I'm not at the point where I wanna try any gameplay altering mods, as I'm still on my first playthrough.

The general consensus on the net is that you should be scared to play it for other reasons, loosely brought together under the umbrella definition of "it sucks". Apparently, Bethesda fancied themselves action game developers with Operation Anchorage, despite the glaringly obvious shortcomings of Fallout 3's action elements, and made a little corridor shooter.

I assume you're talking about Anchorage, and not The Pitt? I thought The Pitt was WAY better than Anchorage, with some interesting characters, and a few genuine moral choices to make. Enjoyed it quite a bit, could have been longer though.

Yeah, was on about Anchorage. The Pitt seems to be getting pretty good reviews.
