Thief 2 Refiltered Movies v1

Good evening.
I did video filtering and fps conversion for Thief 2 like I did with Thief Gold (http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=145255).

Thief 2 movies already 640x480 - and it's the maximum NewDark engine can render (anything else get downscaled during playback).
So I just converted movies from 15 fps to 30fps via InterFrame2 AviSynth plugin for much smoother playback.
I also refiltered videos with noise reduction, antialiasing for pixelated lines and correction of compression errors (squares in fades areas).
Refiltered movies are coded with x264 in avi container

I didn't do anything with the original sound. I am still waiting for Child of Karras for sound resampling from 22kHz to 44kHz and noise filtering. Of course, I could resample on my own, but I lack knowledge on sound filtering and quality.

Good evening.

The thing is - Thief 2 movies already 640x480 - and it's the maximum NewDark engine can render (everything else get downscaled during playback). So - is there is any point in this?
In my opinion - fps is terrible (15 fps). It could be converted to 30fps via InterFrame2 AviSynth plugin for smoother playback.
Sound is terrible (22.05 kHz 8 bit PCM) - but I don't have knowledge in sound filtering - so I need someone like Child Of Karras to do it for me.
Image quality either not so good - it would be nice to do noise reduction and antialiasing.
As always - refiltered movies would be x264 in avi container

You could run two instances of Media Player Classic and compare original and filtered videos in one playback.
30fps filtered version is much smoother than 15fps original. Also there is less noise and compression errors.

depending on when you started thief "i started with thief 1 so i liked how the cutscene played out,i felt gold ruined how thief 1 felt in mission order

so once that get debated on what is best to use for videos then we need to see t1/g nd t2 and t3 videos all redone to maximum performance on one video on you tube so no one has to download anything and it will be hosted by youtube=free cost to maker,then it will be a complete series 1-3

the 2 cellphone thief games were more cannon then 2014

but great job with my new hd monitor with led lighting they look amazing but hard to say what would be best format to view ,it should be based on monitor resolution,i have a 24w hp so i like the panoramic view where there is a back bar along top and bottom,where you see more of the left and right compared to up and down.

When Thief Gold came out I was like another rip off one new map im not buying the game again to get one more map!
That lasted for about a year then I finally broke down and bought it, afterwards I couldn't go back to the original thief gold was MORE than just a new map after all.

Honestly, I don't think there is a point in filtering this german credits video. Because its already 640x480. And it consists of still images, so you don't need to made a 15->30 fps conversion.

P.S. I could possibly upscale all Thief Gold/Thief 2 movies into 1080p via neural network (ESRGAN) in some future (I already did Thief Gold intro). But it would be not usable ingame, only for youtube os similar resources.

Hmm, fair point. I'll suggest Jak64 to add it to T2Fix, in that case, it feels wrong how Thief 2 credits are just silent.

The engine of the NewDark is limited to 640x480 for movies. Anything higher will be downscaled to 640x480 before output. So the whole thing with FullHD will be scaled down to SD era.
So 1080p can be done via modern technologies, but only for your own usage.

I know, VirtualDubMod cuts audio if audiotrack is longer than videotrack.
I'm preparing new version of the mod with ESRGAN filtering - I'll fix audio length in this new release.
