    Excellent mission.
Very inventive, interesting puzzle aspects, deep (literally!), complex, fun.

It was supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! That's the only word superlative enough for the work and thought that went into this creation.

I doff my hat and bow deeply.

I am missing something obvious. I am finished every objective except finding another way to leave the manor.

    Thanks, downwinder,

I didn't see that the first time I was down there.

I killed Marianne though. I feel bad she was an innocent victim, but seeing all that blood, I wasn't going to risk her not being cured and releasing that curse on the town.

Hey, I've played Behind Closed Doors, Sturmdrang Peak, and now just finished Death's Turbid Veil. What Nick Dablin mission should I play next?

All of them, but Memoirs of a Dead God is great.

Well that'll teach me to blithely select expert, damn those AI were twitchy, finished with 2 hit points, 3737 loot, all 6 secrets and nearly 6 hours playtime though 1 hour was spent scouring the map for anything that would improve my health there's a fruit in the greenhouse if you need it

Was it my imagination or did you find a way of waking the AI I'd BJ'd up & making them walk to meet their doom because they do seem to be the original AI, the only survivor was the lone guard in the tower & the only reason I can think for him being alive is he can't climb a ladder

I really didn't like the absolute darkness but as a design choice I agree it was effective, I hate invisible monsters at the best of times & making me carry a light source so I'm highly visible & can only can spot the bad guys when I'm nearly on top of them was not fun, thankfully you played fair with their placement

Great mission, aesthetically beautiful, good gameplay, definitely taught me not to be overconfident in future

Actually it works by teleporting in replacements for everyone, whether they're knocked out or not. Bit of a brute force approach but it mostly worked.

In case this helps someone ......
In the starting area (in the water), my fps was 5-10 (and occasional crash to desktop).
Reason is because T2 HDmod was enabled.
After disabling the HDmod, my minimum fps (outside) is 30-35 which is playable.

    In cam_mod.ini, I put a semi-colon in front of my old mod_path, and added a new mod_path
    ;mod_path hdmod+hdmod\t2skies+ep2+usermods+patches
    mod_path usermods+patches

Thanks for the mission, nicked! I will play it now.

Thank you, Nick, I just finished playing the mission. Great atmosphere (especially in the mines!), interesting visuals, and challenging objectives (so challenging that I had to look for one hint in this topic ).

Not sure exactly which bit you mean, but the first thing I would suggest is to make sure you have new mantle enabled. It may be a mantle that is impossible without it.

the one in the mines when you find the bride on the bed read the diary and then pavoni appears and chases you and you jump into the crate to find yourself in the pool cavern and the only way out is to climb the edge and go where to female zombie patrols

in the meantime i edited new mantle and it worked! i thought i did that years ago but i guess after updating thief the cfg file has to be edited again!
Its when Garrett suddenly says :now how am i gonna get out of here! But for me it was because i couldnt climb out the pool not because the zombie patrols!

I'm really enjoying this mission so far, but I've got a question about the piano puzzle. Specifically, the FADE one. I assume I'm supposed to hit the F A D E keys at the right of the piano in sequence with the F, A, and D keys as sharp? Well, I've done that numerous times, but nothing's happened! What exactly am I supposed to do here?

The piano puzzle is hard for me too. I used Ricebugs walkthrough to do it. It has pictures of the keyboard and what keys to hit. I can tell you that if you look at the keyboard you use the last 5 black keys on the right side. FAD is black keys and E is a white one. I have no idea what a sharp key is or anything. Thats why I cheated with the walkthrough as I know nothing about pianos. I sure hope this helps. If you are doing it right then you have a bug and hopefully its just getting the latest scripts thats needed.

My old notes for the mission say that on Normal and Hard difficulty, I used the six-letters code D, E, C, A, D, E to solve the piano puzzle. Some readable said that. Another readable mentioned the four-letter F, A, D, E combination. Maybe that works only on Expert. I didn't check it out.

I was able to use both on normal.

This mission is kicking my butt! I still don't get the ring puzzle (the diamond was easy enough). And I can't get out of the vault.

In the vault there is a switch on a shelf that will let you out.

If you mean the piano, press the black keys for F, and D, then the white key for E, on the right-hand end of the piano. Count up from the lowest note if you're not sure - first white key is C, count A-G then back to A again.

Ah the piano makes sense now. But the vault? Is there more than one, because i'm darn tootin pressing it and nothing is happening.
