I think it's a matter of chance if the bloodstain removes itself.

I have played T1 & T2 countless times and STILL have not found all the loot.

2 weeks ago I discovered that I can blackjack the burricks. I didn't knew about that.

Yesterday I noticed that Ratmen wears guards uniform. I always thought that in The Sword mission my opponents were human, but now it looks like Ratmen in disguise. Noticing that after nearly 20 years of playing Thief is mind-blowing.

    Blackjacking spiders.
    Using mousewheel to browse inventory.
    Using keyboard shortcuts for lockpicks.
    Retrieving noisemaker arrows.
    Taking notes on the map.

Today I discovered the hidden exit of Bonehoard. All this time I have made the long trek all the way back to the beginning to exit, when a hidden exit was there in the final crypts section.

I do remember finding that area in the past but thinking nothing much of it. Obviously I must not have completed all other tasks at that point. Never knew.

Also discovered recently that you can backstab the fireballs. Don't even need a power swing, just a swipe or even an arrow will do. All these years for some reason I assumed water arrows were the only way to deal with them.

Finally, I got hit by a Hammerite's hammer upercut and it lifted me off my feet a small distance. That was quite a blow. Can't remember that ever happening.

P.S. You can't blackjack spiders can you? I mean you can, but it is not a KO?

Retreiving noisemakers? Presumably that must be before they are spent.

I don't know if it counts as a K.O. It's just that I have discovered this only a while ago, before I always killed them with arrows or sword. Regarding noisemaker arrows-I remember playing a FM a couple of years ago, when I struck one in a mansion hall. I think I managed to retrieve one after I used it. Can't confirm now, because it's been a while since I have used one.

Yup, you can also blackjack frogbeasts, crouch behind it & try not to stand up as you swing, I'm just sad I can't pick 'em up & use them as grenades

Done that, found a doorway in an FM that it couldn't get through & stood the other side where it couldn't get the gun to shoot me & walloped it with a BJ until it fell apart

Noisemakers don't stick in anything they just bounce off & you can pick them up & re use them afterwards

I see you can blackjack the little spiders but the big ones just get mad.

I also like chasing down the little bots in Soulforge and clonking them to death. Takes nine hits if I remember, and the clonk sound is quite satisfying.

In recent days I have discovered the quick way down from the Horn Of Quintus tower. Previously I had been retracing my steps all the way down, but all you have to do is jump onto the ledge opposite the horn, then keep running round the wall to your left. You'll eventually drop down a large height but land safely on top of one of the lowest ladders.

    I just read this:
    https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthre...0121&p=2431415

Has it always been possible to delete map notes by right clicking them or is that an addition for NewDark?

I'm pretty sure it was always there in OldDark.

Since this has come back. I have only recently discovered that you can safely blackjack some big bots to death.

You can sneak behind them and start clubbing, and they will just stagger but be unable to turn around. Bit like when you hack at an archer and they are unable to get a shot off.

This doesn't work for all of them unfortunately, most of the ones I tried it on will turn around and fire, but it works for at least the following ones.

    The big bot in Eavesdropping.
The two in Soulforge who travel to the opening area once the mission starts.
The single big bot at the back of factory bay D,

Using this technique I confirmed something I had suspected that I had seen once, but thought I might have misremembered. The big bots do have a flee mode. There comes a point during the clubbing where it becomes clear that the next blow will scrap them. Stop hitting and they will run away. I'm sure everyone else knew about their flee mode, but I didn't

Wish I had known this when attempting to Iron Man Soulforge on Expert. Could have saved myself the four arrows and mine I used to deal with the above three.

If you're lucky and get in at the right angle you can also club them to death from the front. It makes a lot of noise, but if you continue pressing into them while they attempt retreat, all their shots will be fired behind you and do no damage. I've only done this successfully a handful of times, but it can be done.

Since this came back up I have re-read the early pages. And apart from cringing at some of my own earlier entries (how could I have spent more than 15 years not knowing that you can blackjack flashbombed enemies, or ones who are searching for you) this caught my eye.

I had forgotten that I had thought the same and that only the small green circles were safe.

Is anyone else willing to admit that they used to try to precision hop from green circle to green circle, thinking that was how you crossed them noiselessly?

Yep. I don’t know when I realised that moss arrows actually deaden a pretty wide circle (even a little beyond the four outer blobs), but it was gamechanging!

I just realized while trying to test what works on a new custom AI, in a recent FM (name withheld to not spoil) that the player can block the bug beast bug attack with water! Just hit it before the cloud gets to you, and it will be dispersed.
