    FM-problem: Empty books

    Hi,

    I have some problems with several missions. The books and scrolls are empty and the names of custom made inventory aren't displayed.

    I installed the game via cd and run tfixer and installed these components
    NewDark 1.27
    Complete Mission and Resource Fix
    DromEd Level Editor
    Mods
    Interactive Candles
    T2 Skies
    T2 Water
    Thief Enhancement Pack
    Thief 2 Sound Enhancement Pack
    Thief 2 FM Fixes

    Does anybody know how to solve this issue?
    I didn't found a solution here.

    Post thief2.log. It's in the root folder. Which FM loader do you use?

    There's no FM language flag in the log. This might be an Angelloader issue. Try FMSel.

    I don't like fmsel. And I don't have that problem with all fms. Just a few. Why doesn't effect this all fms?

    Try FMSel with "Sister" installed and report back. Post thief2.log again (but in code tags). This can help FenPhoenix to improve Angelloader.

    the "FATAL: trying to set non-power-of-two sized texture" message is definitely not good news - whatever you are trying to load, has non-power-of-two sized textures, which is a bad, bad thing, and should be fixed (by whoever made the textures).

    I don't really want to install it. And since I'm the only one mentioning this problem so far, it doesn't seem to be a big problem. I will just use the good old darkloader for this few missions. But thanks for you efforts anyway.

    You know, you don't have to install FMSel, right? You already have it.

    FMSel is the ingame FM loader. You don't like it, but you never used it. Funny.

    Edit cam_mod.ini like this to enable it and start thief2.exe

    In the meantime, until the Angelloader issue is fixed, you can try to set an additional language in darkinst.cfg

    And I used fmsel. And garretloader and newdarkloader. And I didn't liked them all. That's why I'm glad, Fen spent his freetime to make a new fm-loader.

    Edit: Ok fmsel doesn't start. I don't know whats the problem. Surprisingly.

    If AngelLoader has a language issue then I'm keen to fix it right away. I'm looking into this right now. FMSel is definitely doing something AngelLoader is not. Looks like it's doing some sort of scan for language directories in the FM and checking some optional config values that usually aren't there. I missed this completely during development I'll get to work on this.

    @Taffy: If you've used AngelLoader then other loaders won't start until you go into your cam_mod.ini file and remove the ; in front of the line ";fm_selector fmsel.dll" and then put a ; in front of any other line starting with ";fm_selector". Apologies, I've been thinking of how to make that more obvious. Looks like I need to prioritize that too.

    Ok, now I have this "trying to set non-power-of-two sized texture" error even I don't have any idea what that means. And still the empty books. Maybe because I have a german version of the game, the problem appears? But still I have it only with a few missions. Seems like a special "my-installation & fm-config" intereaction.

    This has nothing to do with your problem. It's a Sister FM issue.

    Try to set the language as I suggested.

    Okay, as I thought, nothing in cam_mod.ini. Well at least knowing that FMSel is having the same problem means in this case it's not AngelLoader's fault I guess, but I still discovered that some language functionality is missing and can now implement it, so that's a good thing.

    Sry Unna, totaly forgot about your suggestion. But you were right. The fm works with angelloader now. Never thought it would be that simple. Thanks for your help.

    Fen: I didn't had the same problem with fmsel. There I could read the books. But just adding the "+english" in the darkinst.cfg solved the problem for me.
