    bump!

Yes, I'm shamelessly bumping this thread, with my question, to the top. But I figure if it hasn't gotten answered after a couple of days, then it'll get buried...

Anyway, can someone tell me what that parchment says?
I am Garrett of Thief. Resistance is futile - you will be robbed. Your individual wealth will be added to my own.

I dropped down a well into the water with the waterwheels. There was one guard, but I knocked him out. I read the scroll on the wall, and the door opened. I entered and looked around, but I don't think I found anything.

Since you have won it, then how do you end it?

I'm in the same area and I have the medallion, but the mission won't end for me. I wonder what that single objective reads.

According to Silver Sorrow, the mission ends where I'm at. Besides, once here, you can't go back.

Yeah, I'm in a different area. Right after killing the three burricks in the round room, I dropped down a small square hole into an area with water and a water wheel and there's no going back. I guess the mission ended here for Silver Sorrow, but it won't end for me or w_hairst.

The "problem" is that I'm trapped where I'm at, there's no way to go back. I only have a few saves so I may have to start this one over.

poison_the_well: Did the mission you played have "test release" in the title? Mine does.

For some reason, the frobbable painting next to Brother Murus doesn't frob for me. Not a big deal though, I still got into the courtyard that the key behind the painting is supposed to help with.

Now I know why the painting doesn't frob for me. It's not supposed to!
    spoiler:
The frobbable painting is NOT in the room with the Brother Murus lookalike. It's in a room at the end of a hallway that has water on the floor. Put out the torch at the end of that hallway and the door opens.

Do you mean the door is on the left side of the table with the key? I bashed open a set of double doors next to that table and found only a brick wall. The other double doors opposite of that are unfrobbable and unbashable.

    Dammit!
    spoiler:
Just past the metal double doors in the casino is a tapestry blocking a hallway that looks like it may lead to that guard behind the gate, and I have no sword. If I drop down the well with buttons next to it to go get the sword in the blue chest, there's no getting back to this area. There's also another tapestry blocking a hallway just off the room with the four doors, same dilemma.

    spoiler:
SHOOT! 'Turns out this is the same tapestry from the other side!

    This just in:

    spoiler:
I just gained access to the room behind the metal unfrobbable door right before you go down into the casino. I could here an AI behind the door. Since he can hear you, I kept jumping up and down hoping he would somehow come through that door. And then to my amazement, it opened with him peering out looking for me (I was in shadow and BJ'd him). The guard frobbed the door from the other side with a switch. There were three coin stacks, a gold nugget, and a gold wine bottle in there along with a training dummy and a short well going nowhere. The guard had a duplicate of a key that I already had.

It sounds like you have this mission mixed up with another one. Did you ever get the sword from the blue chest that you can kill zombies with? Right after you get the sword, two fire elementals appear. I just played this mission again tonight and am really familiar with it now. You're instructions right after the second haunt seemed to not pertain to this mission.

I wound up in the same place as before with the water wheel.

Sounds like the right mission, all right, but you never got to the water wheel area. In that case, I either need to find a way back up, or restart the level.

I decided to play this last night; I was essentially able to run through it with no real problems. It's a rather bizarre level but I've come to expect that from JIS.

I was initially very bothered by the areas that seem fleshed out but that you can't get to. They aren't obviously outside the level and at least one portculis is guarded. At least it wasn't as frustrating as Elevator.

Is the lift that's built into the well working for some people? It doesn't work for me, so if I drop down, ther's no going back up.

Where did the mission end for you? Was it in the area with a water wheel?

Yes, I roped down and threw a switch which triggered three burricks and opened a small shaft. I fell down the shaft into a room with water wheels and one patrolling guard. I disposed of the guard, read the scroll on the wall and went through the doors that opened. The mission ended there.

Even though I have the medallion, the mission won't end for me when I reach this area. I'll consider it finished though.

Looks like you're gonna have to play it again to see if you're still sane. I'm curious of the outcome.

Perfect loot scores are awesome, but sadly pretty rare for me.

After the mission ended I tried to go back to slash a banner (now that I had the sword) and could not jump out of the elevator with the aqua floor. Did anyone have this problem and solve it? Also, when falling down the "chute" from where the burricks are shortly before the end, how does one get into that room with the throne you can see as you fall down the chute?
Just finished this fm and found it to be very very entertaining. All new interiors, for me at least, and first rate. Sorry to read some people bashing this fm. When you can't read the objectives and/or books, I wonder how anyone can assess the logic in an fm. I usually forget what the dang objectives are anyway when I get really engrossed in just exploring as I did in this one. Also, when you play on expert you should expect it to be difficult and challenging.
Despite the language barrier, I would highly recommend this fm. Don't bypass it just because you don't undertand Japanese.

joanieS, if the elevator you're talking about is the one that once you take it down you see a skeleton (half of it outside water) and 3 statues, then you should be able to jump out of it without a problem. As for that small room with the throne, damn do i remember that! In theory you should be able to get in it because if you drop Garrett from large heights, with the right timing he can mantle into ledges even it seems very difficult. In that case, it's easier said than done. For some reason he can't mantle up. If you simply run forward and drop down, chances are that you will hit the wall and he will bounce back just a little bit so he'll be a bit further away from the ledge than he would need to (that's how the Dark Engine's physics work).

The best chance to grab the ledge would be to either walk very slowly, or sidestep on the edge and then drop, or put Garrett in reverse, drop him then turn 180 degress and try to mantle. I remember very clearly that i managed to just hit the edge 3 times and at least 5 times, he made that characteristic sound that he does when he mantles up but because i was pressing the jump button very fast, he would fall to the water. Seems a bit of a hit and miss but i think it can be done. By the Builder, i might try it again myself.

Finished on Normal in 1 hour and 37 minutes with 150 of 292 total loot. The only two pieces of loot I found were a golden chalice worth 100 around the one-hour mark and a golden bottle worth 50 in the final room.

Very long and linear. Not the most complex architecture, but well built and relatively good-looking for a T1 mission.

Wish I could read Japanese. There seems to be a plot, but I have no idea what it is about. Something to do with a Keeper medallion and a haunting in a Hammerite compound probably.

Three areas where you might get stuck:
    1. In the first chapel near the beginning of the mission: There is a hole in the ceiling of one the side rooms on the left side from where you enter, up a set of stairs.
    2. In a dead end with an obvious secret door at the end: There is a water arrow in the water puddle on the floor of this corridor. Use it to extinguish the torch next to the secret door.
    3. In the room behind the secret door: You should get a key if you frob a painting that highlights when you stand near it. The key is hidden inside the painting.

I will admit an urge to play GasExplosion, however. Unfortunately these missions don't seem to be downloadable from anywhere.
"Shinjuku Toilet EX" and "GasExplosion": Are those lost missions? Or were they released with a different title? I read there is a prominently placed toilet in "D" (Thief 2).
