    Hey, Guess What...

If there is someone familiar with UnrealEd: The Early Version and wants to fix someone elses maps will they please make themselves known to the cabin crew?

so TCP is alive and well!
.. right? are we going to see the episodes complete according to the initially envisioned design, or have the team been forced to compromise drastically?

We've dumbed it down for simultaneous console development. Charlotte how has giant breasts.

Er... never ever been that easy to answer, even at the beginning. Cassandra's masterplan is HUGE. We were never going to finish it all, probably. However, there's other, smaller things along the way which are still worthwhile. We could always hit them.

Reporting for duty sir. Limited duties, on an 'as and when' basis natch.

Seriously though, I'm moving house, spending a month or so off work, and getting a laptop, so I could find time to help out a bit if you want me to.

Fantastic! We should probably go inside and talk about over a martini.

I'd offer to help, but my DeusEd skills are, frankly, poor. I made a Masonic lodge temple that looks like the bastard offspring of something out of Quake and Riven (burn its eyes!) and then gave up and had a little cry. See http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthrea...t=70699&page=4 for further details of why I crawled back to Hammer.

sometime in the future, would you be kind enough to give us a look at the design docs, or maybe just give us an idea of what was planned? i'm highly curious. also, i associate Cassandra with the movie Unbreakable these days. i think it's the examination of archetypes and superheroes. or maybe i'm drinking too much coffee.

Maybe when it's all definitely over, which will be YONKS down the road.

It should also be noted that the further we went along, the more ambitious and insane it was going to get.

getting more ambitious, rather than less? you have no idea how happy that makes me. well, maybe you do, considering you're making Cassandra.. still. positive reinforcement and all. just reading something positive like that just makes me happy, especially considering how other teams so often just focuse on purifying and getting right the same gameplay that's been seen a million times before. i'm not saying that a game like Serious Sam is a bad thing, but i'd prefer a Clive Barker's Undying, or a Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines to that any day. if my computer could run it, anyway.

tangent: oh my goodness. i still love Undying so much.

I'm sure that we'll never actually reach the *really* ambitious stuff in the endgame, alas.

If nothing else, would it be possible to rig it so we could play the original Deus Ex with the equipment you guys have developed? Sort of like Counterlife.

I figure there's been a heck of a lot of work put into this, so it would be a shame to see it all expended on just the intro level.

Thats lemon squeezy. Load Cassandra and load a game, then go to console and type Legend, select a dx map of the game make sure travel is checked and away you go.

Of course you wont have any ammo or anything to pick up in the game, so you cant exactly play the game through, but you can pick a favourite map and have a blast at it.

That's what cheats are for. Much as I hate using them.

I'm a bit late here and this has already been said, but:

Please, please, please release the story, the whole story. I love knowing what was cut, I love knowing the whole vision. I hate not knowing. I read early scripts, I listen to writers commentary, and always try to get all of the information.

I wish they had the same with Deus Ex, and would love to know the whole story behind Cassandra.

An example is when the OHND mod went away I was more distressed at the fact that the complex back story they had written up was gone than the fact I would never play the mod.

Yes and for Deity's sakes bring back the uppity reportings of the Narcissus Entity.

Many people still e-mail me about the Cassandra Project asking why we aren't hosting the rest of the mod for download

    Whaaaah, fanboy want more!

I wonder if it'd be possible to master UnrealED in time to make a contribution...

I'll only offer to help if I'm the last resort, because:

    a) I have the time-management skills of a tree (I know what season it is, but after that it all goes kind of, like, fuzzy).

    b) The fact all my mapping skills are geared towards the Quake engines, because I hate hollowing things out (I got burned by DromEd. Yes, I should have known better) and Worldcraft was the first one I actually got anywhere close to mastering (No! No! Primative block, not prefab sofa!).

    c) Most importantly: I want to play though those levels myself, being a conscientious psychopath (God bless rubber bullets and 35mm CS gas rounds!).

But if it really makes a difference, then I suppose I'll have to step into the intergration chamber and merge with the Narcissus Entity, forfitting my individualism (and chance to star in the sequel) for the greater benefit of mankind. Either that or just hang around with its sub-routines and Johnny Casino in bars.

did you ever get a chance to go through the old TROIKA site that was hosted here at TTLG before John Brough decided to take it down? that was genius. i was on the TROIKA team before (and for a short time after) it became OHND. the man has incredible ideas and put in an incredible amount of effort and work into the projects, but there were never enough dedicated team members with any time to spare. too bad. the TROIKA thing was pretty amazing, though. the closest thing i've seen to a worthy successor to System Shock 2.

i agree with chris; even if you can't work in certain parts, let us know what got cut out, changed, whatever. once you're done and have had some time to breathe, that is..

If it's any encouragement, if I were really rich, I'd pour a million plus dollars into this, with no request for anything in return, except for the mod.

But I'm far from rich. Keep up the good work!
