Yes I can confirm NewDarkLoader has issues with FMs labeled folders. In a previous post here I had the same issue with System Shock 2. Once the fan missions were moved from that folder to another everything is fine. I hope R Soul can tell us why FMs labeled folders have that issue.

    Understood. Thanks.

It's a strange situation. It's been a while since I've been able to get it to crash.

Here's another version with a few more things added to the log file, and the logging state can now be toggled with Ctrl L

(Just extracting NewDarkLoader.dll should be fine if you already have the program)

I've an issue. I toggled the full screen readme for A Short Night's Work, and now I'm unable to toggle it off. I can find no way to get back to NewDarkLoader and access any other mission. I'm using version 1.5.5. I even reinstalled it to see if that would fix things. I then tried updating to 1.5.7. All with no luck.

Help, please. There's other FMs I want to play!

For the record, I've greatly enjoyed this- and previous- versions of NDL. I abused the heck out of the comments section of DarkLoader, & I'm so happy to have that again, as well as ways to mark which difficulties I've completed. Thank you.

Open NewDarkLoader.ini in your \FMs folder, go to the SplitDistance= line and change the value to 0.5, then reopen NDL and it should be split-screen again.

There should still be a dark grey 'resize' bar just above the readme window. If it's not working, or it's not thought to be obvious, I could set NDL to reset the readme size if the program is closed while it's full sized.

Well, it obviously wasn't obvious to me at first (or fifteenth) glance, hah. In my defense I was likely far more tired than I should've been; nonetheless now that I look, I can see that it's just barely short of completely fullscreen at the very top. So while it's obvious to me now, sticking in the 'reset if program closed' might not be bad next time you decide to update.

Thank you Dahenjo, R Soul. And particular thanks to you, R Soul, for the program itself! I greatly appreciate it.

    Here's the next version, 1.5.8:

    http://www.mediafire.com/file/14om23...oader1.5.8.zip

It resets the size if the readme is so large that it hides the first FM in the table (which includes the full screen option).

Discovered this very useful app today on a recommendation by Yandros over on the Codex. It's a perfect hybrid of DarkLoader and FMSel and is now my default way of launching Thief FMs. I'd love to see the following features implemented in future builds, however:

    - the ability to sort by Author
    - adjustable font sizes for both the main browser and the txt/info files window. (My eyesight isn't what it used to be).

Other than missing these features, it's pretty much perfect for my needs. Thanks, R Soul, for making it.

I'm open to the idea of adding an Author column. I've reviewed some of the NDL code and it looks like adding an Author column will be possible, as will making it sortable. Less straightforward will be working out the author from the readme. Most of them have a line such as "Author: someone". That's probably as reliable as it can be.

An existing feature is the FM tags system, which includes author: someone. They can't be used to sort, but they can be used to filter.

Font size can be scaled globally from Control Panel, though this might be too much a blunt instrument. The readme can already be scaled on its own using Ctrl and mouse wheel.

Yes, I kind of accidentally discovered that using the mousewheel with the CTRL key modifier increased font size on the txt/info files, which is more important than a larger font in the main file manager window, i guess. Your program kind of reminds me of another excellent file manager/launcher for mods for the Doom community called Doom Launcher that I recently helped beta-test in the latest versions though he started earlier on it so it has some nice additional features like screenshots and multi-colored fonts. I'm sure NewDarkLoader will be equally flashy in future builds since you seem to be dedicated to regularly updating it.

I just started using NewDarkLoader and am having a small issue. I am getting each FM listed twice, once with its .zip extension (which shows the readme files as well) and once with no extension, just the name of the FM file (no readme present). My FM archive is C:\GOG Galaxy\Games\Thief 2 FMs. Poking around a bit it looks like they also exist (unzipped) in the FMs folder inside the Thief 2 installation. Choosing to play either seems to load and play OK.

I am sure this is user error, but I'm not sure what to change and would appreciate any advice.

    Thanks.

NVM: just hit uninstall on the ones with no file extension and the got cleaned up....shoulda thought of that earlier.

I'm sure this may have been answered previously, but I don't have time to read everything sorry... can you add multiple FM directories like you can in the original Darkloader? If not , it is a deal breaker.

No, but it does support subfolders within the select FM archive folder.

The problem I have is I have multiple folders on multiple drives. I am officially requesting this ability be added in future releases.

The program has 44 references to the user's FM archive path, and changing the code to consider multiple paths might create a spiral of complexity, so for that reason I'm not keen on making this change.

I've decided to have a go at adding support for multiple paths, but I'll have to proceed carefully to make sure I don't break anything. Hopefully you'll offer to test it when it's ready.

    Suggestion...

With FMs potentially containing multiple readme files, is it possible to switch over to the other one to read if I needed to?

As it is, once I select one, it permanently keeps that one as the one to load each time I select it. Even after I remove it from NDL.

Actually you can already do that. Right click the fan mission name and left click edit fm details. The readme choice is at the top of the menu that appears. Choose the one you want. Hope this helps.

I think I found an another issue: On the first start and when the FM archive folder is empty, an error message "division with zero" and "unexpected exception" appears, when I try to close the application.

I've started adding support for multiple archive folders, so it'll be necessary to wait before I sort out the above problem.

You need to change the thread title. With a quick glance I thought I had the latest version.

Done, ffox. Thanks for pointing that out.
