I only have Thief 1 so playing this mission is interesting for me. A lot of the textures are blue and i have 'invisible' servants running around. Anyway does anyone know where the key to Bafford's room is? Thanks.

Why don't you install the Thief Gold patch? It should fix those problems for you and allow you to play the mission properly. Check the FAQ for a download link.

As for the key, I think it's worn by a person in the theatre. .

theres really not any "hidden" loot in this level. i tried to make it realistic in a sense of loot placement. perhaps you missed some loot in a bathroom, i even overlooked it myself spamlet.

oh and there are keys to every locked room in the motel. one is quite hard to spot. all of them are worn by people.

I tried looking in the bathrooms. What type of loot is it? I looked in most of the toilets and sinks but saw nothing (loved the lady and gent in the stalls, though). Was it coins or what? Perhaps I should have looked more at the floors instead?

Very good mission.I am happy to
    spoiler:
get the scepter before the haunts. To do this I use a rope arrow into the top of the tree, and jump unto the ledge and able to get to Balford 's room.
Its quite a challenge. I notice when completing an objective, it does not tell you that the objective is completed. Beside that, excellent mission.

So where is the managers office? I've run all over the place for 2 hours and I can't find it. I'm playing on easy and have accomplished every other objective. I even finished the mission without getting this last objective. The only other room I can't get into is room 210. Who has that key? Please tell me these things.

The key to Room 210 is worn by a woman in the bar/casino.

The Manager's Office is at the end of the hall past the suites, on the top floor.

Re: new fm hells motel part 2

Wasn't Hell's Motel supposed to be in 4 parts?

Or did you manage to pack the whole story into two?

    Thanks

hells motel is just part of a larger series...its basically garrett telling a story of his youth to his new apprentice, Talon. there are three more levels in the series, dealing with garrett and talon.....

oh and silent warrior....none of the thief 1/gold levels tell you when an objective is complete unless you script that to happen.

and there is a key to baffords room, apparently alot of people are missing this key but it really is there

Amievil, I found the key to Balford's room at the beginning of the mission. But, I am still glad that I got the scepter at the very beginning. Due to the haunts at the end.

oh i misread your post i think

prepare for the next "night of horror"...my next one really takes a twist and get this....there are no undead in my next level, yet it is very twisted....i cant say more than that. a really important thing is that the next one will have two briefings! uh oh hehe...actually the text continues the story, but also i plan to have the video briefing continue it even further...so you dont really know whats going to go on in the level until you watch it. damn briefings are harder to make than the levels hehe

Does anyone know of a loot list. I just spent the last 30 minutes trying to find 56 loot Im pretty sure some is in room 215 but cant find the key. Where is this person that has the key. Are they male, female, guard? Everyones KOed and I think I've rechecked everyone. Really cool FM up until the 3000 loot objective. I've done everything else.

Hell's Motel Part 1 is so bad it's good I couldn't stop smiling, and it has that 90s feel to it, and features the longest lockpicking.
    Now to Part 2.

That would be 1890's would it.

Hell's Motel Part 2 is only slightly less boring, having repetitively long corridors, mainly vacate rooms and a soulless atmosphere from being to end. Enjoy!

And to round up your excitement for the weekend, you need to check out amieveil??'s (get it: Am I Evil ??) final foray into Droming, his spectacularly annoying fighting style FM, the 3rd in the Hell's Motel trilogy, the T2 mission, Betrayal: Voices.

Actually Betrayal could have been not a bad mission if the enemies weren't so hard to kill, and you need to kill them all to complete one of the objectives.

    Edit: @ zajazd.
Thanks for putting me in a masochistic self pleasuring mood, I'm off to play The Dread Complex.

On average I try maybe less than one mission a day, it'll be fine.

Finished on Normal in 1 hour and 13 minutes with 2768 of 3368 total loot. The hidden objective triggered when I read the book in Bafford's room at the end, but then I couldn't find my way into the manager's office. So I reloaded an earlier save and simply completed the mission right then and there without triggering the hidden objective.

I thought this was a little better than Hell's Motel Part 1. The mission objectives are clearly laid out. At no point in the mission did I feel irritated. The mission even made me laugh one time when it played the eerie "Ahhhh, come here!" sample when I entered a ladies' bathroom on the ground floor. I hope that was intentional.

At the same time, Hell's Motel Part 2 is a good example of how not to design a Thief mission: The layout of the hotel is both huge and not interesting to explore. After a long, boring trek along the outer walls, you finally enter the hotel and find it to be composed of long, boring corridors. To meet the loot goal, you have to search for valuables in many guest rooms. amievil? tried to spice things up by putting different wallpapers in them, but this does not conceal they are virtually the same room over and over again: a rectangular block with a bed and very basic furniture like a wardrobe, a shelf or a table. The opposite of an engaging environment. This mission would have been much better if the size of the hotel and the number of guest rooms were reduced by at least 50% and if more emphasis would have been put on rooms like the casino, the opera, the steam baths or the childrens' playroom.

    Hells motel part 2 - Apr 2003

Hello everyone. I know I' m too late, but I discovered thief FMs lately, and so for me it's all new.
Since I wasn't able to find anywhere online a walkthrough of this FM, I decided to attempt to make myself one.
I'm an absolute amateur in this, so please be lenient.
It's in 2 parts, I tried to ghost it, and I've got all loot.

Also in the description I've added this link of uploaded images of the detailet loot:

I noticed that there are more threads for this FM but I'm not going to spam.
Thank you all. My very first post in the forum. My english isn't obviously good enough (I'm Greek).

I've done the same to the first part of Hell's motel too, but I'm gone take to its separate thread.

I checked out your YouTube channel, TasosLad. It is good to see some footage from some of these lesser played and discussed missions. I played through all T1 missions that were released up until that point not too long ago, but my memory of them can sometimes get a bit foggy. Your footage is welcome refresher.

    Hells motel part 2 - Aor 2003

Thank you both. Also I thank fortuni for adding my walkthroughs to his thread, which, I have to admit, I discovered later, after my post. And, of course, it's excellent and extremely usefull.
