Bad shadow quality in low ambient light missions

I'm having trouble with my TFix Lite-patched Thief Gold. If a mission has its ambient light set rather low, shaded areas look terrible. Here's how it looks:

Before I switched to Lite, I didn't have this problem. Can anybody suggest a fix?

Looks like 3-bit per channel colour in dark shadows. So, there is probably 16-bit or less colour palette and not enough colours to reproduce more dynamic range in shadows. Try to force 32-bit or postprocessing if T-Lite version allows it. Some kind of "force_32bit_textures" in settings? But maybe it is impossible and that's why is "Lite" version? :)

And the REAL problem is on Your own side ;) I mean - Yours ;PP The Author sets low ambient light for some reason, and You forced gamma correction more above what it should be to 'destroy' this reason :) This walls should be BARLEY VISIBLE, not visible very well... ;) You are standing in complete/total darkness as lightgem indicates, so why do You want to see this wall with full-super-details (but darker) when it should be BARLEY VISIBLE? :)

You should just DECREASE gamma correction to the point, where this dark 7, 8 colors wall will be barley visible, edges and contours barely marked, but still visible and recognizable - problem solved ;D ;P ;)

If ambient light will be set to 2, You will be increased gamma even MORE to see 2 or 3 colours on the wall? :) Do not try to see something you should not see ;) That is the purpose of low ambient light. And what You do when ambient ZERO light will be set? :) You will be increased gamma to maximum? ;) lol :D

Shaded areas look terrible on screenshot, because they are TOO BRIGHT.

Looks like 32-bit textures are already forced.
    Code:
; load/create all textures as 32-bit and enable other 32-bit rendering path for some other subsystems
    force_32bit_textures
Also, my gamma correction is fine. I brightened up the screenshot considerably because you wouldn't see anything otherwise. I hoped this would be clear, lol.

Which mission is this? Open it in DromEd and note a object number near that spot.
    Post cam_ext.cfg and Thief.log.

This is Catacombs of Knoss, mission 2, but it's just one example. I have similar issues in other missions.
Obj number near the spot: 1982

    cam_ext.cfg:
    Code:

    single_display_mode 2

; same as above but with triple buffering

You can turn on some settings to improve the quality at the expense of performance
    i.e. enable
    d3d_disp_sw_cc
    in cam_ext.cfg
