    Wow, just wow

I've just completed the game for the first time! (Right on, the game is ten years old... ) When I first played many years ago, I remember it being a lot harder than that. But, oh well, it was a blast anyway. In fact, I had more troubles with my teammates shooting grenades in my back than dealing with the enemies. Mmf. SO, it's another finished game for me. About time isn't it?

    Excellent!

You know there are difficulty levels in the game, right? If it's too easy, crank it up a bit. On "World War" difficulty, I guarantee some challenges for you :)

And then there's this old chestnut if you want some ideas on making the game (and the final mission in particular) really challenging!

Hum, there are? Where? I didn't see them. I also read that there were different screen resolutions available, but couldn't find where to look. I, apparently, suck at the interface.

Your quarters has an options item. On the other base screens and in the game proper, press o for the options screen.

Edit: Accidentally signed my comment like I'm on Wikipedia.

    A couple of related notes:

    1) The best setting on the 'overall quality' option does not set the terrain quality to its maximum, so you'll want to change that as well.

    2) The options are only saved with campaign saves, so if you load TN up to start a new game or use the random mission builder then the options will be at their defaults.

Ooohh, much prettier. Though now the sound has some kind of static in it. But it only happens when I'm out of mission. What setting should I use with a SB Live?

I tried the demo for the first time last night. It setup and worked perfectly, even with XP! I was amazed.

    Didn't like it though.

I just got myself a copy of it and I have it running on my old machine.

Can you push the res any higher than 320x400? What's this about increasing the terrian detail and 3Dfx?

I have quite a beasty old machine K6-2 450 (66MHz FSB) running on an ASUS P55T2P4 (512k on board cache), 128SDRAM, Matrox Millenium 2 4MB and a Voodoo 2 12MB. DOS 6.22 and Win98Se. I think it should handle any tweaks pretty well.

    Now, back to Terra Nova......

    Nope.

    > What's this about increasing the terrian detail and 3Dfx? :D

There's most certainly no Glide support in this game. You're probably getting confused with the VESA issues that occur with some 3Dfx (and other) video cards, but that has nothing to do with hardware 3D.

Go to the options screen ("o") to maximise the terrain detail. The highest overall detail setting leaves the terrain one notch below maximum.

    > I have quite a beasty old machine

Sounds like a good machine to keep around for such things :)

    Enjoy!

Thanks for clearing that up for me, did think that I was picking up butt ends.

    Enjoy I shall!
