SSR Contest Mission -- Cryptic Cravings

I've never been good at finding hidden switches. I'm stuck very early in the mission, I managed to find the passageway hidden by crates, the switch that lets me into the next room, and two hidden rooms off to the side of the previously mentioned passage. I'm in the room with the two spiders, found a turnable statue which opened a coffin, but that's all.

    Where do I go now?

I didn't find the two hidden rooms off the passageway. How did you get into those? In the spider room look for buttons to depress behind the two statues on the north wall (I think. The one with the sealed door in the middle of it.)

It's really embarrassing. Once you've found parts of the walls that look like hidden doors, you can walk right through them!

Ah, okay, I'm back on my way now. Thanks a bunch!

This is tragic. I'm stuck again. I'm down a level from where I was before, I've knocked off about 4 haunts, and stolen their keys. I'm running around in circles now, with no clue where to go next. I did find some grates hidden by a statue, and I can use the keys I got from the haunts to unlock some lock boxes and open them. I found a big hammer with a sign saying 'pray to the builder for guidance' I believe, and it seems the hammer's frobbable, but using the hammers I found in the crypts isn't doing anything to it.

Now what do I need to do?

You're ahead of me. I think I must be missing something in the room with the spiders. I got enough of the coffins open to find Hammers 4, 5 & 6 plus I found the way to move the other coffin to get into the next passageway but I can't get down the ladder without getting killed so I'm assuming that maybe there are more hammers in the coffins I didn't get open?

You have the same amount of hammers as me, so it's not that. You're missing the button on the ceiling of the room at the bottom of the ladder, I think.

Ah, I missed that! I'm starting to think I've lost my thieving sense, I've found the talisman of Earth after using the beads on the hammer, but now, yet again, I'm at a loss as to what to do next.

Did you find Brother Bartholomew's tomb? Look for a tiny switch on the base of one of the pillars.

Did anyone find the lockbox behind one of the statues opposite the cthulu statues?

I didn't find the button in the gas arrow room, but I found that if I jumped on top of the statue, and then down from there I was hardly affected by the trap.

Found the prayer beads, but didn't find the earth talisman.

There're are also a couple of frobable torches up in the main crypt and I can't work out what they do.

Here I am, stuck again . . . I found the switch, flipped it, got into the tomb, got the staff, and opened all the other tombs on the level. That may be the furthest I've gotten in this mission without needing help again!

Nope, but I don't know what the cthulu statues are. I'll take a closer look around.

If you use the discarded flare on them, they light up.

Well, I'm stuck now too. I've got the Earth Talisman, the Staff and the ceremonial hammer. All the sealed coffins are open but I don't have any idea what to do next or how to get into the other Talisman rooms. Time for bed here. Maybe by tomorrow, someone else will have figured it out!

Where'd you find the ceremonial hammer?

In one of the "element rooms" you can destroy the window at the top. But I didn't manage to find a rope arrow, so it is only a little hint...

I found the ceremonial hammer in Brother Tobias' coffin. There's a tiny switch on the left hand side of the coffin, down by the floor between it and the wall that's hard to see. So nobody figured out where we go from here?

    I am stuck

in the room with the spiders. I found the hammers number 4,5 en 6 but can't find another switch for opening something else.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as everyone here. Did you guys read 'Diary of a Haunt'? That has to be one of the funniest things I've ever read in a thief FM!

    azrarhn:
    spoiler:
Inside one of the coffins in the center of the room is a tiny ship's wheel.

The books that I've found in this one have been excellent and inject a very nice humourous element that I've been enjoying greatly. Now if only I could figure out where to go next!

I agree, I literally cried reading some of the books in this mission:

I suddenly noticed today that many of the Brothers look very similar. I looked in the garden pond today and realised that I bear an uncanny resemblance to some of my fellows. It is almost like we are twins. Is my mother keeping secrets from me? Are we truly brothers? Or is there a more sinister plot afoot?
    ...
Brother Avalus and I spotted a thief today and gave chase. He sprinted off into the library and closed the door behind him. We tried to open the door but the thief was blocking the way. At one point it was almost as if my head was sticking right through the door and then all went dark. We have been robbed again.
This story begins soon after the death of Brother Bartholomew. His calm spirit and boundless wisdom helped keep the fellowship focused and enthusiastic for the Builder's works. But his untimely death (he chased a thief into some water and drowned standing up like the martyr he was) started a power struggle for the control of the Brotherhood.

But no, I've not gotten any further than anyone else...

I saw this!! Problem is, it is VERY difficult to frob. Well, I'll keep trying...

Edit: damnit, is this thing even frobbable at all!?

Second edit: I give up. A new version should be released which actually makes this thing frobbable.

I didn't have any trouble with it. I just leaned forward and it lit right up.

Well it doesn't for me, no matter what angle I look at it.

And I'm pretty certain my Thief 2 install isn't "borked" - this is the first time I've had "game system"-related problems with any fan mission.

I had no problems with that either. It's very strange that it won't work for you.
