You mean the key that turns off the book's security field?

Hint: Search the curator's office and closet carefully. Be sure you enter the combo before flipping the lever!

If i hadn't had beta tested this one, i'd have known who made it. It has the author's identity written all over it!

    OK, I
    spoiler:
unlocked the security lock with the key found in the attic but the blue beams are still there. Still can't steal the book, nor can I get the masks without setting off the alarm.

    Am I missing something?

    spoiler:
After using the special security key right next to the book, flip the lever to turn off the blue field. As for the masks, I don't think there's any way to turn off their security field unless the author changed that in the final release.

Have you not played NOLF 2? Just watch the beams and make a run for it at the right moment.

    spoiler:
I made it into the storage room and ran from the city watch guards. While I was on top of the hammer crate, I threatened one of the guards with an arrow.
At that point Thief crashed. I have all of the scripts loaded.

Maybe I was feeling evil, or crazy, or a little bit of both, but I played this mission Warrior style. Try taking out all the guards with your sword! Sad thing is, after withstanding all the guards I got taken out by some inanimate object.

What was that thing? It's behind the mech robot. It was like this glowing orb. I walked up to it and it killed me. And I hadn't saved at all !

Fun mission! I'll play it the right way tonight.

I'm in heaven with all these FM's.

I did the same...I was proceeding slowly blackjacking all the guards until I came to that annoying
    spoiler:
hard headed guard on the 2nd floor.....

I ended up by killing everyone and
    spoiler:
    slashing all the doors...

Good thing to see I'm not alone Lady Rowena.

Actually I did get to see how nice the architecture was before, you know, I went crazy and all. The security alarm scared me half to death. At first I thought, "Ooh! Look at the pretty blue effects. I wonder what they're for?" I would make such a horrible thief in real life...

Going Postal = Losing your Marbles! Named because of a Postal worker, who went mad one day and went around killing folk!

Hmm, that won´t work. I´m afraid I screwed it up...

    spoiler:
I open the closet. I type 5214 at the pad. I flip the lever beside the pad. Nothing happens, no matter if I stand inside or outside the closet. I even tried the procedure with the light lever...

That was the only one I had to take down. I'm still looking for
    spoiler:

At first I tried to type it as if the keys 123 were at the top. Maybe you typed it this way as well.

postal workers say the mail never stops coming, that has to drive a person crazy. the first big mail massacre in the u.s. happened in edmond oklahoma, about a quarter mile from where i attended graduate school, though the murders happened years before, not germaine to the topic, but useful for the international crowd.

Has anybody else had a major crash while playing this mission? I tried to read the label on the book, while the field was on and every program running on my computer just about, started popping up error message right after Thief crashed.

Edit: I loaded it back up again but this time turned the field off first and everything was fine. Fun mission!

Edit 2: I decided to replay the mission and everything was going fine until I was about 3/4 of the way through when I had the same type of crash described above. I don't think having it happen twice while playing the same mission can be a coincidence. It's never happened with anything else or any other FMs.

    Loot?

    I've finished missing 300 loot.
Anyone found some "hard to find loot" that match this amount?

    sluggs:

    Search the attic!
