Updated T2 FM: Fortress By The Sea 3.0 (3 May 2006)

Now updated to version 3.0, a massive reworking of the mission, new textures and objects complete the mission.

Things haven't been going so well for the Baron. He's losing his war, and unless he can capture a key enemy fortress on the top of a lonely island he'll never get his navy to safety. Normally, I'd stay out of business like this. A captain in the Baron's army tracked me down, he asked for the best cat burglar in the city, and wound up finding me. With the fee I'm being offered to help get the Baron's forces into this fortress I'll be able to pay my rent for a long time. I'll have to watch my step on this job. The Baron's forces aren't going to know the difference between me and the soldiers in the fortress, when the jobs done I should probably make my get away and worry about collecting the second half of my payment somewhere less hostile.

Can't get it from the homepage link, and Thief Missions fails also. No such mission.

The ZIP for the collective (misc) tutorials also fails from the homepage.

Just got it from thiefmissions.com with no problems. I do hope you can knock out more than 4 people. I hate having limited knockouts.

thanks sluggs, the link at the top is now active, i was waiting to be sure the new version was posted, the old version should also be available, i'll have links to that as well. @the blackman, i was reposting the site today after making updates, you likely were trying it then.

Crap I misspelled "classicist". That'll learn me good not to use funny words.

Looks great so far Otto. Love the transparent shields!

Oh, and the fancy room with the beams and the custom banners.

its just so visually pleasent, look at the ground outside, its a bunch of tiles with the gravel and grass blended together, there are almost as many textures to accomplish that as the rest of the mission.

Only got a quick chance to look at it this morning as i had to do stuff in RL! Otherwise my butt would have been glued to the chair and my fingers to the keyboard! Is it me or have you put in an extra area too?

In the new version Jason made it a lot harder to get through on expert.

Pay attention to the fire sequence, and you'll find out how to get through unharmed. It requires careful timing

    Error in Readme

Jason, you have this in the readme:

    * Credits *
    ...
The new fire bitmaps are originally by Yandros, a second version based on them is also used.
Those bitmaps are originally by Eshaktaar, I think I was just in charge of the first released mission that used them (Heist Society). You should credit Esh for creating the bitmaps.

well, then, i'll have to give proper credit, as for the fire

    spoiler:
    on easy it hasn't changed

on hard, only two will fire at a time, leaving three off, you have to get into the middle of those three and move down to the end as they fire
on expert, the middle one takes a break, wait until you can get to the middle, then wait on the left side there, when the flames ahead of you go out run out.

nearly 200 downloads on the updated version, sweet, i left the ko limit alone, its after all an updated mission, not a new mission, nothing related to the mission except the boiler and some improved lighting was changed that would effect gameplay.

Nice fm Ottoj55. I had not played the first version and I enjoyed this one.
Except some little troubles with buggies brush rooms I liked very much this mission.

Textures from Thief 3 are very great too

Damn. That was pretty nice. The mission was beautiful. The only thing that I question was the ko limit.

I'm usually a black-jack maniac/warrior when playing fm's so it was a challenge for me. But challenge is good.

Very nice Jason. You have my humble compliments!

    Ottoj55,

Thanx for a very beautiful mission. Gorgeous textures and design.

I'm not keen on knockout limits, but as you possibly have seen, I got some help with that. I still think it's better I knock them out, than they just kill each other in the end.

Looking forward to your next mission.

So you can rip that one apart too? When you buy proper games, do you open those up just to make your life easier too?
