I had troubles downloading Nameless as well. Searching their forum, I found an alternate link: http://www.tcmagazine.com/articles.p...enum=4&catid=4
The download link is in the article. There's another game that intrigues me slightly there, a remake of Alien Breed. Looks frustrating as hell, but can I resist?

Remember when I gave away Independence War 2? Well, now I've got a new, sealed copy of Tribes: Vengeance sitting on my desk. It's going free, anywhere in the world. What do I want in return? Simple; PM me saying that you want it, and include a short joke in your PM. I'll take all the valid requests and randomly choose one forumer to receive the game.

Edit: closing date for requests is 9am GMT on Friday.

Nope. As you could have noticed it's not a finished game - updated versions with expanded gameplay are planned for release in future months. And I have mentioned that "However I must complain it has a bit clumsy wolf character control and I have noticed several bugs."

It's a free game made by small studio for granted money, what do you want, army of professional betatesters, like big publishers can afford?

You may post your experiences, constructive critics and report bugs on the official community forum - the devs read and moderate it, they'll be grateful.

It's not the worst underground specimen I have tested so far...

Most of all, you shouldn't resist. The respawn is a little too high in my opinion but otherwise it's a pretty good remake of the original game. I never managed to finish any of the Alien Breed games (including AB3D 1 & 2) so I was surprised I was able to finish this remake.

Some years ago, a vision-struck lad was going to create a 2-D Thief game, engine first, from scratch. Sadly, like many such plans, it eventually petered out.

Fortunately, such a game, with a unique style and original character (I'm reminded of BlackThorne and the ancient Nightshade), has since been created. It's most things that a 2-D Thief could have been, with a distinctive flavor of its own. The ego of the character is distinctly Garret-ish.

Firstly, apologies to those who are waiting for a game from me; I'll be sending them out at the start of next week.

Secondly, apologies to those who are getting bored of my constant posts in this thread that aren't for downloads. It just seemed to be the logical place for this sort of thing.

Anyway, I have recently come into possession of the following games. They're all DVD-cased, new and sealed, previously-full-price, UK versions:

    Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
    Deus Ex: Invisible War
    Deus Ex: Invisible War (again)
    Silent Storm Gold
Freedom Force vs The Third Reich (watch out though, Starforce on this doesn't like a lot of DVD drives)
    Armed and Dangerous
Hidden and Dangerous 2: Sabre Squadron (ONLY the expansion pack, mind you!)

A variation on the usual deal applies - I will happily post them to you, for free, anywhere in the world. All I ask is that once you receive it, send me a postcard letting me know how you liked it; fancy foreign stamps are always welcome.

If you'd like one, send me a PM telling me what ones you'd like to be considered for. I'll pick the recipient of each one randomly once 9am GMT on Friday 7th March comes around. No-one will get more than one though, unless there aren't enough requests - I'm trying to spread the love here!

    A couple from IGF

Synaesthete - Music/rhythm arcade game. Won Best Student Game.

Polarity - Platforming with magnetic fields. IGF Student Showcase finalist.

(There are doubtless other worthy freebies to be found there as well, but I'm going out now.)

Flysis is an MMO dogfighting game with an obviously anime style. Currently in closed beta, just sign up and it's free to play.

I just played through the whole thing.

    That game kicks ass.

Seriously, that was very weird but very fun.

This was short and sweet. I played it with my X-Box 360 controller like they recomended but I think it would be just as easy with the keyboard.

Downloading Savage now. Ok, here's some freebies courtesy of Gamer's First:
WarRock - free CS-esque MMOFPS. Looks like fun, but laggy.
Aaaaand here's 2 MMORPG's and 2 MMORTS's. Not my kinda thing, but they look well-produced. Although corny as hell.

WarRock is a load of crap unless you buy it. Otherwise you don't get shotguns, machine guns, or anything else you need to stand a chance in that game.

Not true. Buying the game only allows you to have extra weapon slots. Yeah, there's some weapons that are unavailable, but it's only a few. The main problem of the game is that to get the in-game money needed to rent(yes, yes, rent) the better guns, you pretty much have to stop playing everything else. Also, the base classes(with basic weapons) are unbalanced; while the grunt can do fairly well with the basic rifle, the sniper is an exercise in pointlessness. You'd better be chucking handfuls of ammo up their face.

Well, buying it allows you to more guns/slots, but then you have to play more to be able to afford the in-game cost of buying extra guns. A really strange model.

This is not a freeware game per se, but I just stumbled onto an online gaming mag that specializes in retro games. Many, most, or all are freeware. The format is of an online-distributed CD image, and before you groan overmuch, the size of the most recent issue is under 150MB.

Online CD image distribution sounds clumsy, but what you're really doing is downloading the whole magazine for offline browsing and playing. That's right, you can browse the mag, read the reviews, play the games without downloading anything extra. Even emulators and ROMs are supposedly included, perhaps even pre-configured, for play. Class act.

Only the most recent version of the mag is available with all the games included, so download now! Older issues are available in a 'lite' version, zipped up with all articles and art included, but without the games and emulators.

    Two clicks later...

(Keep in mind that a retro remake might not have the same name as the game it intends to copy.)

Free FPS, basically a very psychedelic version of Quake III (same engine, doesn't require the game).
