That's a bit mind-boggling, since Cygni just released, and it's been reviewing pretty well so far (except for on Steam, where the reviews are mixed for whatever reason I can't be arsed to care about).

It looks good, although I can't imagine a timeline where I'm getting to it ... Although I'm thinking to get a handheld device and it's the kind of game I'd play on it along with other emulated games. (Still going back and forth between ROG Ally X and the Legion Go. Thinking an 8" LeGo 2 might hit a sweet spot though if it gets announced soon. Also wish they'd make a standard 2TB version; some essential games are near or over 100GB.)

Anyhow, this week's Epic pick is:
    Death's Gambit: Afterlife
    Good looking metroidvania.

There's also some World of Warships starter pack that looks exploity that you can find yourself if you're into that.

    Epic:
    Toem
    The Last Stand: Aftermath

Toem was one of our game club's recent games.
Cute little photography puzzle game with a little story.

Whispering Willows, a 2D puzzle adventure is free on GOG until the end of this week.

And the current Epic freebie (until Oct 10) is Bear and Breakfast.

    Epic:
    Empyrion Galactic Survival
    Outliver Tribulations

When I was playing Empyrion a few years ago, I thought it was the best of the alien world sandbox games at the time (contra Space Engineers, No Man's Land at the time, etc.) NML has apparently improved a lot since then, but so has Emyprion. Don't quote me on it still being the best, but I liked it when I played it and think it will stand even today. I think it may also depend on what part of the sandbox you like: some narrative structure (Emp), pure building (SE), exploration and aesthetics (NML), etc.

Yeh I played a whole bunch of Empyrion when it was in early access, very good fun especially with co-op play.

I keep meaning to get back to Empyrion since it must've changed a lot in the intervening years, but it's a surprisingly wonderful feeling to cobble together a wonky jury-rigged spaceship and then fly it into space. Haven't really gotten that in any other space game.

    Ghostwire: Tokyo
    Witch It

Dunno what Witch It is, but Ghostwire is good! Actually, I've kinda been thinking about replaying it. It was just an enjoyable open world that was captivating in a kinda grindy icon-clearing way.

Yeah, Ghostwire was fun, but I don't think that it's a game that I want to play again. It also takes a good while until the game really gets going, and the battles for the first couple of hours are boring until you learn some better (and more fun) skills. I wish that there were more things to explore in the open world, now it's just running after icons on the mini-map. I still completed all the side quests if I remember correctly, but towards the end it was mostly because the completionist in me demanded me to do so.

But anyway, it's definitely worth playing, especially when you get it for free!

GOG is giving away a game I have never heard of (or more likely heard and immediately forgot), a point and click adventure by MicroProse (yes, that MicroProse of Civilization and X-Com fame):

Castlevania Anniversary Collection - when you hold down the whip button in Super Castlevania IV and press the direction buttons you can swing it around in all kinda directions! Chain physics! On the SNES! WHOW DID THEY DO THAT!?!?!? You guys gotta check this shit out.
Snakebird Complete - this is a repeat, but I think it might be pretty good actually?
