    The Bridge - T3FM 22/05/2006

The Bridge has been updated to v1.5 and now includes an Italian translation (thanks to Kremin) and a German translation (thanks to Beleg Cuthalion). It can be downloaded at cheap thief missions. Thanks to epithumia for hosting

Thanks for all the feedback and extended beta-testing. Most problems encountered have been fixed now.

You can see the latest screenshots here.

    That fm looks awesome !
Unfortunately, I can't play T3 due to graphic card problems, but as soon as this is fixed I'll urgently try it

Not a big issue but I noticed that I got a crash while the briefing movie was playing (about a third of the way through), only happened the once out of 3 times of starting so far, possibly due to my graphics card.

I do have to say though that your art work is fantastic.

Had Potterr's same problem, but just hit escape and went directly to the game with no problems. I need help already, though:
    spoiler:
I went to the locksmith's - got his request to find his daughter, brought back the woman lying in the upper alley (with the noisy electrical meter) and he freaked out on me. Guess it wasn't her! Can you tell me how to find her?

I crash during the briefing movie as well. Just a straight drop to the desktop. Its happened 2 times in a row. I am going to escape to skip it now, but just letting you know.

why dont you upload it to cheep missions. I cant get the file from file factory. Everytime I try I get this gay advertisement wanting me to get some MSN like messenger crap.

OK...it seems to be working now...Thanks

Wow, these screenshots are the first ones I've seen that look more like T1/2 than T3 - no blue-hued ambient light, bright crisp textures - it looks like a really, really detailed T2 mission. Ok, it looks better than that.

Downloading... you really should send it to Jason though so people don't have to wade through all the ads and stuff at FileFactory though...

Wow, Dom! You outdid yourself with this! There's a lot of places to go and the artwork is phenomenal! Excellent use of ambient lighting, and the textures are just beautiful. This looks and feels a lot closer to the classics which makes me wish you were on the art direction on the TDS team. Gameplay is great too. Although, the audio on the cutscene wasn't too great, I could hear the background noise abruptly stop & start with the voice.

That's some good file hosting, I'm getting nearly 500k/s here at work...

Just a note - to help in keeping the Circle up to date it would be useful if I was sent an email or PM with the readme (perhaps from whoever posts the mission in here), as it would save me having to download each FM in the event that epithumia hasn't grabbed it yet. The Circle still gets an awful lot of hits so it's worth getting new FMs on there quickly. Exposure and all that.

Stunningly beautiful and I'm really surprised at how smooth it runs on my computer.

The movie doesn't work for me either and I can't see any objectives, only a small box but no text.

It's been hard to play when I don't really know what to do but I've managed to get myself to taft avenue.
    spoiler:
I've found the vidow there, am I supposed to leave her the letter and toy? And if so, how?

thanks for the feedback ... After working on this thing for over year, it's kind of strange to see it finally *out there* and listen to people's reactions.

I'm particularly pleased people are picking up the *classic* vibe - my main motivation was to create a more industrial, gritty, steampunk City than we got in T3. This is one of the reasons it took so long - almost all the textures are custom, and many of the objects too.

I've no idea why people are having problems with the intro movie, I haven't changed it since beta, and have never had it crash on me, but if you can skip it that's cool.

The second movie is more important however, and tells you what to do, so here is the gist for anyone who has problems playing it ...

    spoiler:

Kinch the locksmith agrees to make a copy of the Shale Bridge key for you, but in return he asks you to go and find his wayward daughter, who has been out drinking on one of the local taverns, and has probably passed out in an alley somewhere - on her safe return, Kinch will give you the copied key

@ Tithian: I'm concerned you're not seeing objectives ... are you playing a non-English install or anything? Are you using the latest GarrettLoader? Also:

    spoiler:
to leave the letter\toy just select the item in the inventory wheel and hit the *use* button, like when you use a health potion. Also, you have to leave it on the desk ...

    @Singblade:
    spoiler:
No, you have the right girl He may have freaked out because of something else, for instance the AI can become scared of Garrett sometimes, but if you leave the daughter on the bed, you should still find the copy of the key on his desk.

As regards the hosting, obviously I would love to have it on the Circle, but was aware it was a rather hefty download and wanted to make sure there were no problems before letting you know.

English, Patch 1.1, John-P's texture pack and Garrettloader 1.31

Anyway, could someone give me hint on the
    spoiler:
combination to the vault? The note I found wasn't very helpful.

    Tithian,

I can't see the objectives either. It happened way back when I played a new FM. Can't remember which one. Regardless of that, all except 4 of them are checked off.

I put the toy on top bunk and objective ticked off and the letter and toy were on the desk.

Can't figure out the code for vault either. Still working on it.

    Hope Vincent

Great FM Dom. I love anything thiefy.

    Look on Bridge for code

With regards to the video problem, I didn't get it on the beta version so its possible it may be corrupt. I'll have a bit of a test with it and see if it plays fine outside T3.

If that is the case, I can put another version up at some point. Cheers for checking this out ...

No help for the combination - it's a puzzle, but all the pieces are there

Having tried out the first video file (01Intro_engl_none_30.bik) it is definately corrupt somewhere round frame 453.

The older beta one runs fine though. Its odd the file sizes are the same, however the version 1.1 has a file date of exactly 2 hours later (to the second).

I would suggest updating it, if need be I can upload the original movie file.

The second video is fine though.

I used Bink And Smaker player to play it.

Great mission ! Definitely the best T3 FM so far

I can only find three special loot items - the Lucky Coin and the two Cat statues - anyone know where the fourth one is?

Also, is there any way to unlock the barred gates - the one in Water Street and the ones north of Taft Avenue?

Dammit, now I've got to get set up to play T3 fan missions.

All 'cause str8g8 is an artiste when it comes to the Thief aesthetic.

    Hello Potter,
have you run something like ZipRepair on the TDS_Bridge_v1.zip, yet?
(I'm getting at least 13 files missing after 3 downloads and repairs.)
And heck, just opening one of them with WinZip will show you directory errors.

A problem video or two is just a small bother.
But with game-files, who knows what lays ahead in actual gameplay, later?

And if you have those missing files as functional copies then a much smaller addendum upload, for re-creating the original zip-file, might be a fast fix?

    ***
Here's my older version of ZipRepair, if you need it or to compare notes?
    ZipRepair
    ***
And as you know, extracting 01Intro_engl_none_30.bik from the repaired zip, will find its crc problem, right there and then.

Great FM! I've been waiting for this one for some time now, and have been enjoying it... that is, up to now. Actually, I'm a little frustrated with myself, as I'm stuck, and in need of some help, please.
So far I've returned the wayward daughter and collected the copied key, and returned the original. Don't know where to use the copied key.

I've yet to... get into Grimworth and DePerrin's (wherever that is?)
    steal the statue
    get to the bridge
return items to widow (because I can't get to bridge)

I've climbed around everwhere (but have obviously missed something), and there is only one door that won't open. The copied key doesn't work on it, so there must be another key somewhere.

Any clues/hints would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
