Thief 2 Gold Missions Released & T1 Outtakes

The Thief 2 Gold missions are now in the hands of the community. T2G was to feature four new missions; a slum, a college, a museum, and an undead mission. The files for the undead mission were lost sadly, but we have the others in their most complete form (that still exists). Their authors, and who it was who sent these to us, would rather remain anonymous.

So, what can be done with them? Are there issues involved in the release, use, or modification of these missions? At this point it's doubtful. If they were handed out shortly after LGS closed, there definitely would be issues. Now I'd consider them a valuable relic, a curiosity, an important part of our history, and maybe a springboard for a project aimed to create an unofficial Thief 2 Gold of some form. Who knows?

<a href=http://thiefmissions.com/misc/t2gold/T2G-College.zip>T2G-College.zip</a> - A small mission set in a college, which would have been an undercover-like mission where Garrett could roam freely about most of the building. <a href=http://www.thief-thecircle.com/images/t2g/college.jpg>(screen)</a>
<a href=http://thiefmissions.com/misc/t2gold/T2G-Museum.zip>T2G-Museum.zip</a> - A museum mission. All I know about it is that the name was to be Culture Break. <a href=http://www.thief-thecircle.com/images/t2g/museum.jpg>(screen)</a>
<a href=http://thiefmissions.com/misc/t2gold/T2G-Slums.zip>T2G-Slums.zip</a> - Maybe the farthest along of the T2G missions, this slums-based mission was to feature Garrett trying to go about his business while dealing with the city watch battling it out with thugs. It was to be the first of the T2G missions, possibly set after Shipping & Receiving, and act as a new introduction to The City Watch. <a href=http://www.thief-thecircle.com/images/t2g/slums.jpg>(screen)</a>
<a href=http://thiefmissions.com/misc/t2gold/T2G-Framed.zip>T2G-Framed.zip</a> - Yes, Framed. This is a modified version of the mission which was to be included in T2G. I don't have a list of changes; all I know is that it has some visual polish.

The fourth T2G mission, which was to be set in necromancer controlled territory in the mountains, was to be an undead/horror mission featuring craggy cliffs dotted with haunted towers. This mission was sadly lost. There was also supposed to have been a Hammerite mission added to the mix, but from what we have here it looks like something changed along the way, some information is wrong, or whathaveyou. In general I wouldn't consider anything I've said here the official word on anything.

Edit: A little more on that Hammerite mission... The idea was that Garrett gets a Hammerite priest drunk in a bar and gets him to spill some info about Karras's past within the order, and he then has to go follow up on it by breaking into an old run down Hammerite church.

    But there's more.

Not everything they make for a game makes it into a game. Here's a set of outtakes for Thief 1 that are either missions that were started and aborted (or restarted) or content from missions that were cut, or maybe even the developers just playing around. All of these are very small, but may be a source of inspiration to some, while being just a novelty to others.

    <a href=http://thiefmissions.com/misc/t1outtakes/TDP-courtyard.zip>TDP-courtyard.zip</a> - A simple castle courtyard. <a href=http://www.thief-thecircle.com/images/t2g/courtyard.jpg>(screen)</a>
    <a href=http://thiefmissions.com/misc/t1outtakes/TDP-tower.zip>TDP-tower.zip</a> - A small city area with a tower. <a href=http://www.thief-thecircle.com/images/t2g/tower.jpg>(screen)</a>
<a href=http://thiefmissions.com/misc/t1outtakes/TDP-woodsie.zip>TDP-woodsie.zip</a> - A hedge maze that was cut from Maw of Chaos. <a href=http://www.thief-thecircle.com/images/t2g/woodsie.jpg>(screen)</a>
<a href=http://thiefmissions.com/misc/t1outtakes/TDP-playtest.zip>TDP-playtest.zip</a> - Probably something they used to test the engine. <a href=http://www.thief-thecircle.com/images/t2g/playtest.jpg>(screen)</a>

awesome. I have decided to make Thief 2 Gold - loosely based on the notes we have, and maybe these missions. See my T2 Gold thread for more info!

What a great gift! And not to seem ungrateful, but does your anonymous source have any tools we could get hold of? Perhaps a newer meshbld?

So these are real looking glass creations? Or what people have made based on what they know the missions might have been like? If the former, how the hell did you come across them :S

I think it should be collective project where best dromeders unite to finish and release T2Gold unofficial mission pack.

PS: Are the published missions ready to test them if run as ordinary FMs, or they can only be viewed in DromEd? Are there any textures or maybe even AIs in them?

The same here. I though that surely there must be some changes in the cells area, and indeed I found at least one - new storage area (without any items though) just near the interrogation chamber, but when I approached to portcullis to interrogation chamber and cells it crashed.

I walked them through starting from dromed...
something is very interesting, the factory in the slumbs from outside looks inspiring, of course there is much work to do to complete them, there aren't even readables or objectoves, so it's all to rebuild but as i've seen in the last days this community has a lot of material to make the thief gold Project a satisfying experience, only tiome can tall wich brings us to the main problem

Master nightfall, again many thanks to you and your contact

Wow! Definately something I never expected to see released. That's fantastic! Would any of these annonymous sources have access to the Dark Engine source code? It's the thing we have all wanted most.

Again, I'm simply in awe. After all these years, we just might get to have our Thief 2: Gold. Long Live Looking Glass! *raises a glass*

There's some interesting missing objects in the Hierarchy, in both the T2 and DP missions, such as PixieDust, SkeletalWarrior, Ghoul, GiantSkel, NecroCaster, NecroDagger.

Pity we only got the .mis files. It's better than nothing though!

The maps are very rough (more like half-finished), but they have some nice layout and designs to them.

As NV said, I was really impressed with the college and slums missions. Nice layouts with oodles of potential. It would be great to see these finished really well.

Very nice, indeed. Too bad the authors can't give us just a bit of insight, maybe just an thought or two, as for the completion of things. If they have any, or even want to help finish. Nice thought, anyway.

Again, amazing. We are lucky people, we are. If they are reading this, thank you.
