Looks like a primitive Hammerite tapestry, probably from the time where they began parting with their Pagan past

Check out the harmonics on this bad boy - https://youtu.be/axc76QX__fY?t=9m18s

It reminded me of Hammerite droning played over proverb text.

    Thanks downwinder!
I think the intruder painting was produced by an LGS artist, I could be wrong though. I have looked around for a source, but I haven't been able to find it (that only adds to the mystery). It's also one of my favourite paintings in Thief!

Nice video! It would be interesting to see other levels like Haunted Cathedral or Assassins covered.

A lot of the paintings featured in TDP/TMA are from The Met in New York. They have copyright free, high-res digital copies on their web site, which you can use in any way you see fit!
    Remember this?
    It's a wonderful resource!
I had planned to do a series of videos for various levels, that included one specifically for paintings in the Thief series.
Edit: In fact, regarding The Met, you could download your fave painting from Thief, take it along to your friendly neighbourhood print shop and have it printed on canvas, get an old frame and hey presto, you have a cool piece of Thiefy artwork for your home!

Thank you, Purgator! What a wonderful compilation you made. I'd be happy to see more people perceiving Thief games as not just mere entertainment, but pieces of digital art, heavily inspired by history, art and philosophy. What do you think?

I've included portraits of the various artists whose work features in Thief, these paintings don't appear in game.
