    T2 FM... A Servant's Life by John Denison (05/09/06)

    Clicky

How does one describe this FM?

    Poor Mr. Oh Dear!

I've just completed this and i must say, this is a rather fascinating FM.

    PS. I hope you've eaten!

The warning and caveats on this mission disturb me. So am I really going to lose my lunch? I like to eat while I play FMs.

If I play on the "censored" level, will I miss anything else, or will it just leave out any gratuitous feces? I don't care about blood, gibs, violence, or profanity (though too much of it sucks) .

But when you start slinging sh*t around ....

Hmmm…I didn't find it disturbing but YMMV. I don't believe that you will "miss" anything really important to the story, John is just trying to avoid offending anyone - we must keep in mind that all ages and sensibilities play Thief. You might just try it and eject if it gets too weird.

Nonetheless - another great - if not a little unusual mission from John Denison. I give it

Sometimes abbreviating is not a good thing - corrected - thanks for the note.

Just tell me when to duck. This is my birthday present to everyone at TTLG.

I'd like to thank Sluggs for the special objects, to Jason for hosting Thief FM's, and to Looking Glass Studios for putting a vhot in the right place.

I recommend exploring the entire manor before going into the basement.

The basement has a functioning draining system. If you drop "something" in a drain, you'll find it again in the sewer collection room. Of course just like real plumbing sometimes it gets clogged.

    There's a bug!

Playing on HARD, near the elevator the player gets stuck and nothing can help.

Some of the conversations are very fragile. Blame it on the AI. I'm sorry but maybe the only way is to go back to a previous save and watch that conversation again.

It could also be that the conversation hasn't finished yet.

There are actually four missions in this zip file.

    miss34 - A Servant's Life
miss35 - Turd Factory - only viewable in dromed
    miss36 - Wimpydom Shooting Range
    miss37 - Oh Dear Room

I took miss35 out of the loop because there was no purpose of it if it was censored.

The Wimpydom Shooting Range is basically a test FM to sharpen broadhead shooting skills. The farthest target is 150 dromed units away. The hardest one to hit is almost as far but down in a water pit.

miss37 is Mr. Oh Dear's junk room, and you may do as you please in there.

Yep. It took me some time to hit the running Servant, when i could only see his head, and the one right at the back, on the left, but i got 'em! Those were a nice surprise BTW. Thanks a bunch.

Did you give him his medicine? You also need to back out of the way a little.

    Missing keys, I think

So far, all I have are the Captain's key, the Butler's key, and the East Wing key; but aside from the last, I don't know where to use them.

There are still doors I can't open. I got down into the basement -- well, a basement -- by taking the dumbwaiter (I dropped three scrolls and jumped on them, which gave me just enough height to crawl in); once there, I found a door I could open via lever; but there were several doors in there I couldn't open with any key or the picks.

I saw the first escape attempt by Mr. Oh Dear (at the very beginning), the second one at the elevator, and I heard but did not see the third, in the basement, when he tried to steal a steak. Don't know if that means anything.

I still don't know where Mr. Oh Dear is or how to get to him. The loot requirement is the only one I've satisfied. I read something about him being behind the barn; but I went all the way around and inside that and didn't find anything of interest.

I must be missing something obvious.

Oh, is there a way to get the masks from the case in the East Wing without breaking the glass and alerting the guard?

    Thanks,

    Dafydd

I have a huge problem in the dining room. When I sneak into the corner, there is a invisible barrier and the scene with Oh Dear is beginning. He runs into the elevator shaft and stands there till the guard is coming after him. In this moment the elevator comes down and get stuck at Oh Dear's head. I tried to get down the elevator to the ground floor first, but when I enter the corner the elevator automatically goes up to the first floor again... so there isn't a chance to hold the elevator in the dining room.

Please don't say I have to restart.
