Water Contest FM - Lost Souls Sept. 23/06

I'm shocked no one has mentioned this gem of a mission yet. It reminds me in some ways of Plagiarism from Contest 5 - a really well done, solidly built mission with a strong story and classic Thief gameplay, that tends to get overlooked amongst some of the "flashier" missions. It's a shame really.

I'm ready to finish on Normal, but have only found 1 of 3 secrets, so I'm going back in to dig around more. I have a good idea what one of them will be, but not where to find it...

Me too. Short for 2 secrets! Any ideas?

    Help me!
    spoiler:
I has placed body on the platform, use potion on body of lieutenant, has read note around the gate... How do I execute objective: "You better find make sure the same won't happen to you when you leave".

    I finished it on Normal.

I'll give you a clue: Two of them are on the ground floor and the other one is upstairs.

You need to turn off the power in the generator room. You need the Utiltiy Room key to get in there.

I thoroughly enjoyed this mission, while testing it and while playing the final version. It has nicely concealed secrets, well placed loot and a good storyline. Thanks!

Whoever the author is, good job. The secrets are apparently well-concealed indeed (which means, I can't find any! But I don't give up yet.) and the atmosphere sinister. I strongly object to disposing of one of the major characters this way, though!

One question: Is there any way to open the bathroom door not involving fire arrows?

Preno: there is a key - where it is depends on the difficulty

You could use the master key too, if you can find it.

@Preno -- out of morbid curiousity, which character's death bothered you? There's a couple to chose from.

ffox, SinisterShadow: thanks, found them both.

TNT: Benny's. It will be kinda difficult for him to make appearances in future missions when he's dead...

Don't worry too much. GBM killed him 6 years ago (Benny's Dead), but he still soldiers on.

Not to mention he's been in plenty of other FMs where you could kill him. He'll be back. Considering the mission started off with a lost Benny conversation, it could be that there was just a misunderstanding about who died.

Nice story, it really made me interested in the characters and their fate. The weaking-up-potion was a good idea, it left me with the very nice feeling to have put everything (well, at least as far as possible) back to how it should be. Would have been cool if she had picked up the girl and walked away with her!

3 secrets and 200 loot short... otherwise, finished with this very nice little mission! I though maybe putting the Lord of the house into the pantry and locking him with the women would be a good punishment

If you think like that, then you really have to go back and find all the secrets.
Take a look just under the lip of the wooden trim along the walls.

That one shouldn't be too hard to find, there was a hint for it, I think. Try wandering down the hallway downstairs with the lamp on, you might notice something strange . . .

I really hate it when I miss the obvious ones.
was your hint for the override switch? I tried that, but didn't get the 'secret found' message

Huh. I could've sworn I got a secret found message when I used the switch to move the panel. Maybe try tweaking it again?

    NightTerror:
I already switched the power to the broken generator, ticking off the objective... maybe that's why?

I doubt it; I just tried doing things in that order, (normally I just take a fire arrow and blow up the coil) and the secret still activated properly. The switch that moves the panel is the secret, not the override switch itself, but you would've had to have moved the panel to get at the override . . . very strange indeed.
