Hot plasmid anyone?
http://today.reuters.com/news/articl...c=66&type=qcnaSAN FRANCISCO/NEW YORK, March 7 (Reuters) - Investors who own 46 percent of Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. (TTWO.O: Quote, Profile , Research) unveiled plans to take over its board and oust the CEO, sending shares of the "Grand Theft Auto" video game maker up as much as 19 percent on Wednesday.
Take-Two management has been under fire for years for a series of issues, ranging from overstating revenue to problems with options grants. The company regularly failed to make financial targets and spawned a national controversy due to undisclosed sexual content in one of its hit games.
The shareholder group, which includes OppenheimerFunds Inc., S.A.C. Capital Management, Tudor Investment Corp., D.E. Shaw Valence Portfolios and ZelnickMedia Corp., is seeking control of the board, according to a regulatory filing.
Seeing as BioShock is one of 2K's more risky titles coming out, I wonder if it's going to be affected by this.
Hot plasmid anyone?
Uh-oh. Ken had better get the game out the door before this happens, or they'll probably come down from on-high and say "make it more like Doom!"
Thaaaaat's not good news ;_;
Well, with this game so close to release (comparitively to it's development) chances are very slim they'll get all the proper votes/filing/new CEO/dig deep into Bioshock to find something offensive/stop or change it before Bioshock actually gets out the door, too much hassle at this point, if nothing else Bioshock will get it's chance!
... besides, if it does well, even the most bleh shareholder will recognise "this meaaaans money!"
Development state doesn't mean as much as you might think. More than one game has been axed while only months away from release.
What worries me more than the possibility of Bx's execution is having the game dumbed down to increase the marketability and market share.
One can only hope that they are attuned to the positive feedback that Bx has garnered so far, and see that it's current direction is a good thing.
a) let's not call it Bx anymore
b) srsly let's not
All in all this sounds like Mt Molehill, capable of sending only the twitchiest of fanboys scurrying for their panic rooms. So Take2's major investors are looking to lynch the CEO because of years of what amounts to dicking the books. Sounds rational to me, these people are the ones with the cash tied up in things and they want the best for their bucks. Doesn't hurt that shares increased. Won't hurt that the upper tiers get shook and restructured.
also, let's not call it Bx anymore, because that's really dopey.
Bx? Sounds like someone who's too dumb to abbreviate the word "prescription" properly.
I've said this before and I will say it again: let's just call the game "BullShit." It's a good abbreviation if you ask me.
Things like this cause me much distress. That's why I posted my thoughts a couple weeks back.
"Will BioShock be the last of the Great Creative games From IG?"
Having seen first hand what a "group" of investors has done to the company I work for is what made me post that thread a couple weeks back.
Damn, I hope I'm worried over nothing and all of this is premature conjuncture.
Eight letters are way too difficult.
It's simply a convenience thing, like typing IG instead of Irrational Games, or 2K instead of Take Two Interactive. What's the harm?
There's no 'x' in 'BioShock'.
Also 2K is for 2K Games, not Take Two Interactive.
But that x could stand for XTREME.
I hope not. Rule #1 in gaming: Don't but anything with 'extreme' in the title, especially if they drop the first 'e'.I know, it's called a null character. My bad. My point still stands tho'.Also 2K is for 2K Games, not Take Two Interactive.
No.
You know, I shouldn't have to justify myself like this. There's no grace here, no love, hell, there isn't even that much tolerance. If you can't handle 'theory of mind'; that others think, act, dress, talk differently from the way you do, then I'm not going to hang around. If it has got to be 'your way or the highway', I'm choosing the highway.
What made The Many so scary was the one-ness, the uniformity, the lack of individual thought. It goes against that which makes us human. Sure humanity is a mess, but that's what make it interesting, that's what makes it fun.
So I'll see you guys all later, I'm off to a messy forum. Sure there will be spam, script kiddies, and people who wouldn't know grammar it it hit them in the face. There may even be people who, given the choice, would rather play FPS on a console (shock horror!).
But hey, at least it'll be interesting, at least it will be fun.
If someone makes co-op mod for Bx, I'll keep an eye out for you all on-line and we'll have some fun.
In the meantime, peace!
v.dog out.
I love the internet sometimes
People are getting waaay too sensitive.
people are baring their modest and chaste souls here for the world to see, and you call them sensitive when their privacy is coursely and intrusively invaded. this forum is serious stuff, we're talking high level shit, life and death
If you actually read the articles, it seems that the new management is going to put an end to the type of behavior we're speaking about.
hmmm... this *should* actually be good news
Hey, thats just what I've been calling the game - Bio.
Google is such Helpy Helper at times
I'm done worrying over it...Ken and company are damn great devs, and know what they are doing, let them be ! If...I say if it bombs, then lynch
them, and start rioting in the streets, err,I mean on TTLG
*goes back to polishing his pitchfork, with Ken Levines name on it*
