There are hints in the readables, and on the map.
You need to enter via the secret passage from the temple.

I'm stumped on how to open the Kings tomb. I explored all over the ruins, twice, but I failed to find anything to open the door or even a hint other than one cryptic message near the north gate.

    To open the tomb:

Vague hint: The statue is the trigger. You have to do something with / to it.

More direct hint: You need to burn the statue

Complete outright spoiler: Shoot a broadhead arrow through the slit in the pillar, so that it is set align by the flames there, and strikes the statue.

Finished it. Kind of short. It took me 27 min but it was a nice and creative bunch of work! But I hope the other missions are easier to get around. This mission was just so abstract. It made me crazy with so many crooked buildings . It was really tough to figure out ware the hell I was most of the time. Thankyou to the creator of this mission whoever you are That sound those things made in the kings maze like thing was pretty damn creepy.

I'm done as well. Getting the tomb to open was a bit far fetched to me, but oh well.

I noticed a piece of loot just as you are teleported to the ending. Couldn't grab it

Loot ?? Theres loot in the mission ?? Just kidding...I didn't bother with loot unless it was right there seems it wasn't part of the goals on Normal. I just
    spoiler:
ran through the maze, hit the switch and jumped down the hole
weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ! By the time I jumped down there was about 5 or 6 ghoolies behind me. I never bothered to look back but I ran by enough and I am sure they were hot on my taffin tail end.

I have a tip on how to handle the ending.

    spoiler:
There are two shadow...beast...things...whatever. They are like treebeasts, but grey and transparent. If you're quick and agile, you can lure them after you one at a time and make them fall into the pool, neutralizing them as threats.

Good tip. I counted three though.
    spoiler:
Dont forget there is fire arrows at the top of each tiki torch around the red beast
I didnt notice them untill I already killed all four entities with my sword. Oh well.

The ending is pretty simple if you use the terrain:
    spoiler:
Just make a mad dash for all the fire arrows, then mantle up onto one of the lower pillars. From there you can either pick off the shadows with the fire arrows or jump to the higher pillar if you feel like it. If you're careful you can sidestep the fireballs the fleshy thing shoots at you as well, without falling off.

I only had 2, and I was on Expert difficulty. Bug, maybe?

Just wanted to say how awesome this mission was- a hell of a way to kick of the contest for me!

This FM has a very impressive architecture - I loved the ruined and jumbled buildings, and the general interconnectivity, not to mention the texturing/atmosphere. Right out of a Lovecraft or Clark Ashton Smith short story. The Unreal soundtrack... quite good, although I'm sure some will not like it.

I also suspect who the author is based on his previous work (the stamp is very characteristic ).

Finally I found the graveyard, but where is the King's tomb?

It's marked on the map, you know.
Head all the way back to the very start, where there were two paths: one leads to the ruined city area, the other leads to the King's tomb.

I need to find the sword. I've only found rope arrows so far, in what I THINK was the fortress. What am I missing? This place has me running in circles but I love the atmosphere.

Nightwalker: the sword in upstairs in the fortress. You need to use some rope arrows to climb through a hole in the ceiling in the opposite tower from the one where you found the rope arrows.

Yes, I must agree that this mission had a great atmosphere. I think it's the best of the missions in this contest; the only problem was, it was a nice exploration-oriented mission, but it just didn't feel like 'horror' to me. (Though it did pick up a bit towards the end.)

Also a tip for using your sword: You have to use overhead slashes in order to inflict damage to the black guards. If you do a side slash it will go straight through them! Optimally you could down them with a overhead slash whilst unaware.

    You can kill them?

And here I completed the whole thing twice without damaging anything but those modified treebeasts at the end. Heh.

Thanks, Nameless Voice! I'd totally overlooked that other tower. I've spent close to 2 hours exploring this and there are still places I can't figure out how to get to. Lots of fun!

How is this supposed to end?? I've got both the tree-beasty things dead but the red one is outside the field he was enclosed in but the field is still there. He's just standing outside it. He'll move but he doesn't attack me and I can't kill him. Did something go wrong or am I overlooking something I need to do?

Nightwalker: The shield is supposed to go down once you've killed two the two shadow rumblers. Or possibly three. I'm not sure now.

Clearing: The sword and bow are in the fortres, which is accessible via a secret passageway from the temple.

Sometimes it is better to to write nothing...

Thank you, I found it now!
