but I can see no way of completing this mission beyondspoiler:those super fast swordsmen! Maybe there's a light switch to turn off somewhere. Without being able to strike first, I'm screwed.
Woah, this thing is creepy!
I especially like the pile of spinning stuff in that room and the mirror!
The background music fits the mission very well and helps with the atmosphere.
Whoever made this one, I think you've done a great job!

Thanks! That worked out for me, though I'm now in a nearly as bad situation!
Can anybody help with the key to the left upstairs room or with some loot, I´m missing about 27 or so.
Hello is anybody here, need to finish this one so I can move to the next one :-)

kittykat :spoiler:.if you mean beyond the metal door, I thought all those were open or pickable. If you mean the doors above the foyer, sorry, I haven't been able to open either
Could someone please help me withspoiler:.the bedroom? I don't see any chance of picking your way in fast enough. Is there a way of getting to that metal door in the floor somehow? Been everywhere (?) except upstairs, foyer
Thanx.
spoiler:Took me a while to find too! There's a lever on the wall, on the balcony outside, that opens the door in the floor.
Sluggs: thanks - jumping to that (southern) balcony was so hard, I kept looking elsewhere.
Certainly is creepy...
Sticky Fingers isn't talking about that. He's talking about the crushing wall trap.
It doesn't crush you. Just stand at the far end of the corridor and wait for it to come and then go back into the wall.
When I played it, my suspension of dislief was already so far gone - I saw already that this was just one cheap scare after another - that I just walked to the far end of the corridor when I saw that trap and waited for it to stop; I immediately knew that there was no challenge or puzzle to it, just that it was another meaningless shock tactic. The atmosphere was too far ruined by then for it to have worked on me; I was just bored.
It also took me a long time to realise I could pick the portcullis afterwards. It just isn't logical to be able to pick something with no lock - it didn't even occur to me. I'll stop now before I start complaining about bad roombrushing, unbashable wooden doors, senseless key hunts...

I mean the second floor door where the lamps are beside the doors. Its the one with the lamp standing
Also I am missing some loot, anyone know of a good place to look for that???
kittykat: only thing I can think of is - because it's so dark - really search the tops of tables - some stuff is easily missed.
How did you get either of those doors open?
The other one (on the right with the lamp on the floor) just opened when I had finished all the other things
spoiler:and is the way out in the end.
But I am missing the loot and hoping there is something in there, maybe it isn´t???
Anyhoooo does anyone know of a good loot source then?? 27 missing

Gloria, the links are all in the contest thread over HERE.
Hell seems awfully boxy.
Damn...Sorry and I hate to say it but here it goes. The author of this ruined what was a perfectly good horror mission with the hyperspeed swordmen. I was dead before I even got my sword in the air !! This mission actually had my vote untill I ran into them.
I'm gonna try and finish though.

I had the same trouble too when I initially entered the area -- it turned out that turning on hardware sound had resulted in mono in-game sounds. I don't know if it might be the same trouble or not, but if it isn't, try a set of headphones when playing through that area. Nothing beats them when it comes to picking out where a sound is coming from.
Never mind any sounds: just take out your sword, pull back your arm for an overhead swing, open the door, step forward and release quickly to kill the thing before it can react.

I have surround sound headphones and still they dont help much. I will try NVs suggestion.
Well I did. Its Bulls$#@..I'm dead before the door is even completely open. Thanks though. A big Ebert & Roeper thumbs down for this one. Sorry. Thanks to the mission creator anyhow, I enjoyed very much what I played so far but I aint fighting these guys. It isn't worth the aggravation.

I had the same trouble. What I did was open the door then hid to the side, jumping up and down, getting some attention, then when I went back to the room, it was empty!
10-4 i got it

I was mostly feeling the same as NV. The trap just before the treasure room was the only high point of the mansion part. (Don't blame the mission author if you can't hear 3d sound. It's really a clever trap. And that's just a fault in your hardware/drivers.)
And going to hell elicited a huge . Then as I was expecting poorly lit (i.e. too dark where I needed to see, too bright where I needed to hide) rooms with ridiculously strong enemies (YADR -- figure it out... the 'R' stands for "rip-off") But it turns out there really was just enough shadows to let me sneak and I didn't have any difficulty seeing. (Or is it just that, after playing Island, anything looks brighter?)
And congratulations, this mission actually managed to spook me. After opening a portcullis, I quickly jumped through as a tree haunt turned his back... and stopped a hair's breadth from a quick death. Welcome to the E.A.Poe memorial hallway. Of course, it didn't give me any trouble after that and I wondered what would happen if an AI tried chasing me in there. And most of the rest of the mission that was fairly enjoyable tense sneaking around.
Thing is, after grabbing the talisman, the only way I saw to get back was a mad-dash. I took a deep breath and started running, passing right in front of at least four tree haunts.... And none of them chased me. If I had known they were so blind it wouldn't have been nearly as tense. Knowing that, there's just not much point trying to replay the mission. (Even without having to endure the awful mansion part.)
