Here's a leafless tree in-game...
If ye want it, grab it!
Here's another great tree-making program - Easy Tree Generator 1.5 - Homepage (Later versions aren't free)
This is for those of you who want more out of your trees!
Here's the same tree in Anim8or (Excuse the texturing!)![]()
The program exports to .x/.xml/.obj/.txt (You can load .obj files into Anim8or)
The textures that come with the program are in .dds format, so you'll need a dds convertor. (You can easily find one via Google) Once you've converted the files, they'll need a little manipulation for putting into Thief.
The program can generate both low-poly and high-poly models, and has some super-cool features, such as turning the scene B&W and adding bloom, etc. Hmmm!
Awesome program! Ye gotta try this one out too!![]()

Is there an easy way to convert the leaf .dds files into .tga's without losing the alpha channel? I tried it through irfanview and DDS converter 2 and both seem to lose it in the conversion.
Edit: Apparently converting from DDS to PNG retains alpha values. I'll just convert the PNG's to TGA. I'll have to do it manually because Irfanview's batch conversion (naturally) dumps the alpha channel.

Thanks for that Troutpack. I was having that trouble too, so I ended up using different textures instead of the ones included with the program. I'll try that out later.![]()
What operating systems are you running? I can't even get this to run.
How do you make a .X file to .an8?
LithUnwrap can open .X files, and then you can save them as .3ds or .obj, which can be imported into Anim8or.
@ New Horizon, I'm using XP Pro, SP2.
My specs...
Athlon 64 3000+ (2 ghz)
2 gb DDR 400
Geforce 8600GTS
@ Phantom0914, you can export to .obj
Just before you save your tree, where it say's "Save as type:" select "OBJ Files(*.obj)

Important: It seems that it's best to export to .x format, then from LithUnwrap to .3ds as doing this seperates the model into two objects, the trunk and the leaves. (This makes for ease of texturing in your favourite 3D program)
Converting to .obj format produces a single model, so it can be a pain to texture!![]()
How do i make it a .bin file?, it says the .3ds wont change....
Use the 3ds->bin utility from The Nameless Tower or Shadowspawn's site.
Oh, thats what I was talking about sry.
Maybe your tree is too complex.
Well it says something about RGB but Idk.
It could be a problem with the materials then.
