Art of Bioshock: Breaking the Mold - Free for download!!

Well, in a sort of kiss-and-make-up move (perhaps in the eyes of art-obsessed PC fans ), 2K (through Elizabeth) have provided fans with that other thing they wanted in the CE.

    ARTBOOK!

I'm dling the 75mb version currently.

WE HAVE TO PRINT IT OURSELVES? 2K HATES US!

Just kidding, this is awesome. Free stuff on top of all the nifty LE content? I love seeing the early concepts and how it evolved into what we've been seeing since last summer. I think they made the right choice re: the Little Sisters.

wow, never thought THAT would happen......
since I was one of the assholes complaining ALL the time about the absence of an artbook and dismissing the BigDaddy figurine as mediocre, I must say now that I'm a little ashamed. I would like to console me with the thought that my behavior somehow triggered 2K's idea of releasing the book as a little "we didn't forget you" but I don't really think so.

....10 seconds later: OK, I'm ok again ! wohoo, artbook, artbook, artbook baby....ok, this is what I'm gonna do:

my friend is some photoshop wizard and I'm gonna add the other cult of rapture featurettes to the pdf, restructure it and then print it out on heavy paper and get me an leathersleeve for it.

AND i'm sooooo gonna make me a Mr.BUBBLES t-shirt from the picture in the book.

great stuff, thanks TDFKAI, thanks Elizabeth.

Awesome. There's a lot of great art in there; I would have preferred some words as well, like Raising the Bar had, but the amount of concept art there is pretty damn sweet. It's amazing how different a game BioShock could have been, they went down a whole different path visually based just on certain particular points like what exactly the resource gatherers actually were. Thanks so much, 2K!

Whoa! I just ran through the pages. Pretty God damned creepy! If you're that kind of guy, though, do beware of minor spoilers in terms of what enemies you may encounter. I'll say this much, if half of the freaks in there made it in the final game... With all our trailers and screenshots, we ain't seen shit so far.

And I'll agree with the rest of you, Irrational/2K rock for putting the booklet up for grabs.

Actually, a lot of those monsters are earlier revisions, and not actual monsters that you'll encounter in the game.

It even says in the npc page that they developed them from being monsters into being people who had actually lived normal lives before.

and besides, they've been pretty spoilertight, so why unleash spoilers now?

Ah, good point. I had just browsed through the images, hadn't read that bit you mentioned. Truth be told, I think the more human versions freak me out to a greater degree than the meatblobs. They make the whole thing more... believable, to say so.

A lot of those monsters are from the original Bioshock concept (where it was a biological lab gone horribly wrong). Way back in the day they had bugs everywhere and it actually looked disappointing. Good thing Ken saw that too and changed it to what it is now.

well....I hope we get one or 2 suped-up freaks....maybe as bosses...but it's okay either way.

I really hope the scene with the floating bodies in the windows is in there somewhere. that was some freaky ambience
