Yea, pre 1.004 the only places you could see them were Dark Valley and a small section of Prypiat. With 1.004 i found them quite regular in Wild Territory and Red Forest. Even more fun to blow up with grenades than dog packs![]()
They weren't common prior to 1.0004, that's for sure. Good thing they are easy to kill.

Previously to 1.0004, I also found those rats inside X10 (Red Forest), when I returned there.
Holy Thread resurrection, batman.![]()
I gathered alot of junk. But i needed to get rid of it for a while because I collected all the weapons and sold them. I just had to. They were laying everywhere.

I took this screenshot when I ran across a bug in the game (using v1.0004).
I had just entered the Dark Valley and ran into two Duty stalkers, and accepted a job from them to rescue their friend.
I went to the nearby Bandit camp where he was being held, and took out all the bandits. While I was finishing them off: I noticed the PDA updated to say that the objective had been completed. He'd been rescued. Huh?
I don't know if you can really tell from the screenshot . . . but when I finally got to the cell where he was being held, he was already standing outside of it. I couldn't talk to him, and he kept facing the gate to the cell. So I just left him standing there.![]()

Why not keep them in a stash, or better yet, a corpse, to avoid the stuttering?
There are actually two dutyers being held in that bandit camp. The one in the screenshot, and another one outside. I think that if the one outside manages to get away, the objective is completed.
Still, accomplishing the mission doesn't give you any reward.
Ah, no wonder. Those Duty chaps only told me about the one prisoner, if I remember correctly. I wasn't expecting a second one.
That's kind of true. But that bandit camp does have a room full of some goodies like grenades, armor, and some other weapons.Still, accomplishing the mission doesn't give you any reward.
Here are a few from my last game:
A rarity - Sidorovich selling the modified Groza at the start of the game. I just wish I could get 20000 Ru somehow:
The consequence of a nocturnal visit to the Military Outpost in Cordon:
Flying stalker in the Bar area:
After a long effort, Marked One finally becomes friends with the scientists:
A freshly killed Pseudogiant which, for the first time, I found in the Red Forest:

I believe that the triggering factor for the Groza disappearing is talking to Wolf after doing that first mission for him. On my next game (I've kept the save with the Groza on Sid's inventory) I'm going to try this, and collect the 20000 Ru. Just imagining going to Agroprom with the Groza puts a big grin on my face
Plus, the added bonus of not having to follow Barin around, waiting for him to die so I can get his weapon.
Got any sky mods on koki?
Weather Overhaul.
The bloom, it burns!!!
Actually I did see a case of bloom/HDR lighting on my eyes a few days go, it was on some type of sandstone on a building during the afternoon. It wasn't totally washed out but there was some blooming of the light off the edge of the stone.
More aliVe weirdness. After I did X18, I didn't go back to Cordon(long story why not). I did X16 and then I started my final cleaning of all the lower areas, so I used the Dark Valley exit...
...and twenty-two bandits spawn behind my back.
Yeah, unfortunately for them, I had grenades handy.
What to do with pile of twenty two bandit bodies?
Throw thirty Fireballs into it, of course!
Thanks to the alive mod some places become a zoo. Spot the different factions/creatures (plus some bandits lying outside)
Zilch radiation protection? No sprint? Costs an arm and a leg to repair? Hauling tons of stuff? Why yes!
Some posing
Koki beat me. But grenades was the first thing to come to mind for me too
Seems they caught on to the free repair method too
Halo MP?
Guess bandits dont need to apply for arena fighting
It shoots small guns which shoot smaller guns

Can't wait to build my new system and see all those dynamic lighting mode features in game myself. In DX8 mode night was more like a murky day, and no dynamic shadows of course, as well as bumpmapping.

He's using a mod. That monster wasn't included in the final version of the game.
Plus i didnt kill it. While doing a routine sweep of the factory place in the Cordon i found it lying there, obviously the bandits werent fond of it![]()
i hate those monster attacks during firefights with regular guys.
but I learn to adapt every day. last time some insane mutant spawning threatened to sabotage my X16 mission I just lured them to me, filled up my sprint-meter with RedBull and just ran into the enemy, then hopped into the building, throwing a grenade infront of me. the splash did hit me as well when I ran past it but it took out 2 soldiers following me. the rest of the soldiers where killed by boars, normal zombies and those long-armed ones and a few psi-dogs.
since they don't seem to get to the upper floors I concentrated on killin' the rearguard after gettin the documents, took a nap until next morning (those extra-dark nights with the OblivionMod are just insane, no way to survive with nightvision) and then head off to the bar, lootin' what was left.
ah, good ol' STALKER.
I liked the atmosphere here...looks so real.
The sniper´s Gauss Rifle fell down - good for me. And I got rid of a few artefacts and a broken suit.
I died a few footsteps away from the Monolith on my first run...ran out of anti-radioactive kits and medipacks...)

Heh, your artifact loadout there tells the story I think
