Funny you should mention bookcases. Yesterday I was looking at the custom resources thread and found these:

My, My Yandros-nice work! As for myself, I'm spending a lot of time in other arenas right now-but I'm still dabbling here and there with dromed-nothing to report yet but I tend to lay low until I get some inspiration-then the madness begins again!

Dude. Whatever that is, you damn well better be planning on releasing it!

The cars could use a few more polys though.

Oh, I'll release it. And Saturnine is making replacements for the cars (those placeholders are Gort's low poly cars from RotB), so they should look "pretty good".

I should have known you'd be clever enough to find the cars.

I really like the ambient sounds I've got going on in the alley. The idling truck engine, a couple of different loops of distant traffic and sirens, and the rain.

    Foolin' with textures.

Having a difficult time realizing a space , so I took a break and went back to making textures.

Rain, eh? Needs coronas on the street lights and headlamps then.

A little offtopic: how, for God's sake, you turned shadows in Anim8or off?

I've never seen shadows in Anim8or. Zontik, how do you turn them ON?

Seems I still have to improve my English!
Maybe you call them with another word? I mean some sides of an object are darker than others, and some are VERY dark (almost impossible to align textures).
BTW, I tried to work with Anim8or on 3 different PCs, and every copy of it looks different (with default settings, of course).
Maybe the only way to turn "shadows" on/off is to buy another PC?

LarryG, that's great! Wish to know it before.
I looked at that settings many times, but I always thought that Shaders were quite different thing.
    Now I see...

Some progress of Trail Of Blood 2; a huge inhabited tree and parts of a marshy landscape:

I have finally managed to get 4 of the 10x12 bookcases (and two double-sided versions of the same) finished:

Right to left: 472 polys, 475 polys, 470 polys, 393 polys. The pair of double-sided cases (not shown here) are more heavyweight at 832 and 883 polygons. In the end, I went with 18 book textures with a single common palette (most are taken from PinkDot's stuff, and some are edited to remove some marks and text), and 5 wood textures sharing a common palette.

I'll be preparing a download containing all the above, plus the following, over the next few days, and I'll include the .lwo files in case people want to edit or add new:

    3x12 bookcases
    5x12 bookcases

Now I can actually get back to making any progress whatsoever with my UNPC mission (of course, my next job is making library tables, but hey, those don't have all those $"@#% books...)

My forest started playing havoc with my poly counts. It surrounds a mansion which was already quite high poly. In fact I've already had to put a fence on one of the rooftops to stop the player getting over it - otherwise the polycount would exceed 1024 by quite a bit.

The forest overhangs and at a few places allows the player to get over the outer wall. That wasn't entirely expected, so I was glad - more possible entrances now. But the higher veiwpoints made for polycounts >1024. After some work I managed to get it down again, without drastically altering the appearance, but it was touch and go.

Nice Shadows Yandros ! Wow! even a license plate number on the old Van

Cool RSoul, I will be lucky not to exceed Poly Count in some areas of "Dark is the Lair" the map is almost 1000x1000x1000, and lots of Caves, and flow brushes. What a Job

After seeing the truck headlight coronas on this monitor (@work), I think I need to increase the alpha slightly - I can hardly see them. I'm just trying to avoid the far too opaque coronas that I see sometimes in FMs.

No, I've been intentionally avoiding answering that question. And continue to do so.
In other words, I'm keeping mum about it on purpose, no offense meant to you or anyone else who asks about it.

I will say that the truck is made entirely of terrain brushes.
