    Shop: Stardock Impulse Store http://www.impulsedriven.com/sr2c
Item: Space Rangers 2 + Reboot Expansion
Price: $3.99 US, probably also 3.99 eu
    Duration: Thru 12/14/08

In spite of the dorky name and wonky Russian translation, Space Rangers is a unique game, based around a randomly-generated, turn-based combat, Elite-like universe, in which you can pretty much do whatever you want, from trading, to combat, to piracy. Missions include everything from saving the univserse to Fedex quests to RTS bouts with robot factories, to text adventures, if you can believe it. The expansion is a recent addition, I think, only just this year, or last.

In short, it's a lot of game for four bucks, even if only from Stardock's Impulse service. I think the SecuROM nonsense that plagued the retail version of this game is not present in the Stardock version. Stardock's activation is required only on game install, and for any game updates, it doesn't pull any dirty tricks or require an internet connection for any other reason (so far).

vvvv Note re: Item cited below, GalCiv II: Dread Lords, is the base game, without the Dark Avatar and Twilight of the Arnor expansion packs. Those suckas will run you an additional $45.

Ridiculous price for a solid if slightly repetitive FPS.

Half price! Audiosurf is also half price at $5, both are recommended. There seems to be lots of discounts on there, but these two stuck out. I'm in Australia but we use the US steam store (in USD).

Jade Empire SE for $16.34 (w/tax) on Steam. I've heard it's one of Bioware's weaker titles, but that price made it an easier choice.

I'm a little bummed out that I missed all those great deals during the Steam holiday sales.

I don't know if it makes sense to post every halfway decent deal on GOG, but this isn't bad:

It's time to start the weekend promotion. This time we've prepared a tasty morsel for all classic games fans! The two acclaimed classics Giants: Citizen Kabuto and Sacrifice are now available in a bundle for only $9.98.
A tenner for two very good (not great, but very good) and quirky games isn't bad. I'm tempted to go for it myself, since I do own Sacrifice but the damned game never ran on my system. I wish I could just buy a GOG patch for $5 or something.

Just paid 40 bucks for it at D2D, and it is as good as everyone says. 20 is a steal.

Unless you hate turn-based fantasy games......

Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 - $9.99 Steam weekend deal
    http://store.steampowered.com/app/15120/

Hell yes, I'd been waiting for this game to become cheap enough to warrant a purchase. I played Vegas 1 a few months ago and really enjoyed it.

The PC version has been too expensive for my tastes for months - $60-70NZD for the boxed retail release. (Ubisoft only just started selling their games over Steam in my part of the world within the last few weeks.)

This was originally only supposed to be for the first week of after release (according to google), but it's still going. I have no idea when the deal expires.
