TG FM: Plot (May 10, 2008)

This mini campaign by Dront. Contains three Thief Gold missions: The Jewelled Sword, To The Meeting and The Kill For Life.

    The Jewelled Sword

I became very lazy for some time. I don't know what it means - maybe I'm just tired, but maybe I just don't want anything. The only job I could take would be a one that should give much cash and some challenge. No one offered me anything... But no matter how wealthy you are, there comes a moment when you begin to starve.
In one of these days I recieved an order from an anonymus person, which was delivered by one associate of mine. In this order it was said that there was a job for me. The mysterious customer wants me to break into the mansion of one of the lords and steal the jewel - the jewelled sword. The lord's name is Fevler, his mansion is well-known as quiet and not very beatiful place. Breaking into it may not going be easy - both enters into it are heavily guarded; but I think there's some third way in.
An associate of mine was clever enough to ask something about my customer, but he didn't recieve any understandable answers. Looks like my customer doesn't want me to know him... But the one thing is exact: the story as the one with Constantine wouldn't happen, because lord Fevler was in contact with my customer. Alas, it's the only fact I know exactly...

    To The Meeting

Just after a couple of days after I got the jewelled sword I recieved a letter. In it my customer offered me to meet. The meeting is going to be taken place in his mansion, at the very top of the building - on the fourth floor. I have a bad feeling about this, to be honest. The story goes like it was with Constantine...
In the letter it was described how I can get to the mansion, but no words about what could be inside. I suppose the guards won't be informed that there will be the 'special guest', so I'll have to sneak into the place. One more thing that makes me feel bad is that his mansion, as rumor has it, was built as duplicate for Constantine's mansion... Also, in the letter it was mentioned that my customer is a very busy person, and he may not come to the meeting, so if I won't find himself, I must find 'some message he will left for me', as it was said in the letter.
...Someting tells me I mustn't refuse. I have to go... It's just another mansion, not anything unusual...

    The Kill For Life: http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121149

These missions are of some very basic design, many things could be much better, but no sense in fixing that because the missions themselves are designed so: just set of corridors and rooms. But it's notable that author strove and put much time into it. Please don't judge too strictly, but give constructive critique and propositions instead. Apparently, the author has a good potential.

Well I stayed on one floor all the way to the sword and now every door except dead end rooms is locked and unpickable. Even one of the first doors I picked that goes downstairs. I know I unlocked it but decided to pass on going down untill I completed the floor I am on. Whats going on. Any ideas ? I was enjoying this Mission Pack untill I got locked in. I found a book that mentions a 2nd floor but I cant get out of the one im on. I have never seen this in a FM , I mean doors being locked that opened before.

I have a bug in 3rd mission. Where two thief guards patrols (one with key and another with healing potion) Garrett falls through the floor when trying to go farther down the street. Does anyone else have this?

Lightningline, looks like you are talking about the 1st floor and the basement? If this is it, the door was locked by guard patrolling there. To get to the 2nd floor you have to find a key - look for it on belts of guards.

The only way to the 2nd floor via the 1st one is through the western door. It can be opened by a blue key, which can be found on belts of a couple of guards in the street.
    And by the way:
    I found a book that mentions a 2nd floor
Strange... As far as I remember, practically all the books are on the 2nd and 3rd floors... Where did you find it?

Yes, this bug can be However, you can avoid falling - jump over the "critical line".

The "fall through the map" bug at this particular location cannot be avoided by jumping. I was going to determine the width of the gap by tossing a crate in that direction, but the crate vanishes in mid air when a certain plane is crossed. Tossing it high, it still vanishes. Tossed high enough it will pass through this map exit and become visible again as it lands a good distance away. I exit the map and begin falling when I pass this plane. It seems to be a three dimensional exit as wide as the street, so no going around it. I have never come across this before after playing about 623 fm's.

There's a similar bug a little earlier in this level (third), that can be avoided by jumping through it.

Even when I just shoot arrows into that area, they dissappear. This bug didn't occur in separate version of The Kill For Life. I wonder what could cause that...

Blue Key...Nope...dont work. All the doors are still locled.

    1) a door I came through to the area with the downstairs door through a small hall is locked now...so isnt the door I picked before to go downstairs.
I cant even pick it now.

    2) The door across from the room with the Burrick and sword is locked to.

I have 2 gray keys and a blue key and my picks but none of them work on any of the 3 doors. I think the missions broke...at least for me.

Very strange... I can't explain why it happens... Try to restart this mission, or skip it - likely, only this can help.

Where exactly did you stuck? Have you found the door that leads to the 4th floor?
The door can be opened by a blue key, it can be found on neutral territory or on the 3rd floor.

i do have a blue key, as a matter of fact i have 3 blue keys......I thought i used it on a door to the room with the pass through windows...u can see in the room, but i had to go, a long way around to get to it, when i read something in the room a objective click off.....i guess i have never even found the door.....the objective to find away to the 4th floor hasn't checkoff.....honestly, i've never known, what floor i'm on during the game.....seems to me there are 5 or 6 levels or half levels....i can't remember seeing a door that i couldn't open...please more help.....there are some very dark places...i could have missed something.....

There are four floors in the mansion. 1st and 2nd floor look like usual corridors, the 3rd one is confusing.
Looks like you're playing on Hard or Expert difficuly, because this objective
to the room with the pass through windows...u can see in the room, but i had to go, a long way around to get to it, when i read something in the room a objective click off....
    doesn't appear on Normal difficulty.
When you got near that room, you overheard two guards conversating. One of them (if you'd follow him) would get you to the entrance to the 3rd floor - a metal door in the room labyrinth with stairs beyond it. Once you get to the 3rd floor, you have to pass corridors with press plates and 'rotated' rooms (like in Constantine's mansion). After those rooms you'll find a corridor with a door leading to the 4th floor.

    The Jewelled Sword on Expert

I can't believe I'm playing with no water arrows and two moss arrows, which I am afraid to waste. No kills allowed, either. The AI is razor sharp; most of them I had to lure away to where I have the KO advantage.

    The question is:
Is there any armory, say in the Hammer barracks, or must I continue where I'm at -which is just finding out that the Jewelled Sword has been moved?

Yes, there is. However, some of doors there can be picked and some can't

    To The Meeting on Expert

I have taken the western water way, and ended up at two doors, beyond which are stepping stones in space, and which seem to end up connected to each other (unless I have done something wrong.)

    The question is:

Is this puzzle/trap going to lead me someplace useful, or am I going in circles?

So far, this FM is getting close to the frustrating Haddur FMs (a.k.a. WTF City!)

Nevermind; it has something to do with something after all...Finally made it to the room with the two windows that you can't climb through either way.
