    Quick question:

Can your lantern "run out" and stop working?

Right now I click on it and I see the icon rotate, but the area is not illuminated. Bug or realism? I quit and restarted and the problem persists.

P.S. - Killer mission. Been playing 4 hrs, 20 mintues so far.

It does not run out per say. What may happen, it happened to two of us during testing. You go to light it, it will light up elsewhere...... I found it one time lit across the room, I was like.......WTF... Complex mission, its a bug, very random in nature. I had to restart the game from a previous save to correct it.

I put the book of names on the corner of the desk where the soul is sitting. That ticked the objective off for me.

NOW, can someone please tell mehow to jump past the monster on one of the walkways when I am first entering the Dark Zone

    Thanxs,

    Hope Vincent

By the way, Drk, I love this scary FM.

I found, I could not do the running jump. I got closer to the edge, then jumped. Be sure to keep your head up higher, I was finally able to land on the platform. Aim high, and jump! Hope that helps.

    this mission is glitched

book of names wont check otu no matter where i drop book in his quarters

and by that happening i am not able to figue out how to exit

this mission has alot of good thing, but those simple problems ruin this fm and the expericence.

i tryed to place book on everypossible area,to have this much problem is **** unbeliveable, then i have to put up with people telling me things that dont work, only pedistal by fire has nothing on it so the person who said place book of names on table with blue book,i dont see a ******* blue book near fire

    fix the ***** glitch

well since i cant place book due to glitch, how in the *** can i exit,or is that some big ***** secret?

The lantern bug is mentioned in the readme. The mission is so complex sometimes the light gets stuck in a wall, a beam or any kind of rotated brush. It happens randomly.
Thing to do is turn on the lantern and see where the light is stuck. When you find it, just run into it and it will go back to Garrett eventually.

I spent so many hours trying to solve this bug, I just had to give up. Then I modified a little the mission to make the lantern become a bonus to help players. You don't need it to finish, so if it goes off, well shit happens sometimes...
I tortured dromed to create this mission, but there are things this evil creature just doesn't want to permit. It can be justified as realism too, like it's an old lantern found in the sewers, might stop working...

I wonder how Ottoj55 managed to do "Debt repaid" without these kind of bugs.

Hope Vincent, the jumps can be tricky, you must be concentrated on what you're doing (and enjoy the scare at the same time)

    Regarding the latern problem:

Restoring from an earlier save did help. Because I use lots of different save slots, I was able to pinpoint exactly the spot where the lantern stopped working:

    spoiler:

After I came back from the water zone. Note: I had the lantern ON when I went in. Not sure if that made a difference or not.

When I came out of the zone, I was able to turn it off, but after that could not toggle it back on. The icon simply rotated, but no illumination.

Not sure if this info is relevant to the ultimate core of the problem, but I figured I'd let you know.

Thief_4, we spent 2 months on beta-testing, do you really think if the mission was that glitched, I would have released it ? This bug never happened to me, I checked many times if the mission could be finished, and it always worked with me ! Some other people finished the mission too. I don't understand why on a few people it doesn't work.

But you know what ? Since the beginning you didn't even do the effort to clearly write in english, compared to me who have to do a translation work everytime I read or write, so screw you.

Thief_4: Wow, you need to ease up, man. Yeah, shit happens sometimes but Dr. K is trying to help and considering how much he has given us, you could be a bit more tactful in your posts.

Thief_4, you need to chill out. You are being rude, this has been tested and tested. Dark engine is without its fault. You need to shut up, and not be such an asshole. My god you will get this thread locked.

Go back to an earlier save for god sake, and try again. You'll get a better response from people and maybe some help if you stop your bullshit...

Sly dear, I was pulling your leg.

It was the same thing with The Seven Sisters, same guy, same sort of demanding impatience and attitude. Also complained about T2X plot "mistakes" and bad decisions, etc. Thief_4 you might consider slowing down and relaxing more, and maybe not swearing and yelling at the first impass, and maybe just try to show more consideration and benefit of the doubt for others instead of assuming the worst

    Anyway...
I did some researches, and tested a few things. For an odd reason, you should try to install telliamed's scripts. I remember once I tried to create the vanishing glyphes Yandros created, but failed. It uses custom scripts, and I never managed to make it work. Still I installed custom scripts, so telliamed's scripts might work.

Still it's rather surprising, because the script on the book is TrigRoomDeposit, which is in the original game. Maybe to have installed T's scripts corrupted the game, and now the mission needs it to play fine.

TO PEOPLE WHO FINISHED THE MISSION SUCCESSFULLY : Did you have Telliamed's scripts installed in your thief 2 ?

OK..I want to play this. I have Ts and Gs custom scripts....also the updated
convict.osm file. I naver installed any sound or graphical enhancements. What do I need to do so the mission will be completable? I took a look at the start of the mission and I must say it looks incredible.

    Hello Everyone,

I've made it thru the Dark Zone. Now I'm in the Light Zone and I can't find the stone. Can someone please give me a clue. Found the glyph in the corner, but still no stone in secret room.

ALSO, I don't know if it makes a difference, but I took the Book of Names back before I went to the Zones. And, yes, I have all those scripts installed.

    Thanxs,

    Hope Vincent

Drk, This is one of the best FMs I ever played and I've played almost all of them. I will definitely play again and again.

Ive lurked at these forums without signing up or posting for years - and I finally was driven to posting by this excellent FM.

Thank you for your many months of hard work on all three of your missions - you can tell that every bit of scenery was a labor of love - and it really brings each mission to a whole new level.

Fan missions like this one, The Mirror, A Long Way Up, Seven Sisters, Thief2X, The Flying Age and many more make me proud to be a part of this community.

People like yourself truly have pushed this games engine further than it was ever meant to go - and have extended the life of this game many years beyond what it would have been otherwise.

I'm still amazed that we are consistently being blessed with great work from FM authors in this community with more to come.

    Cheers to all of you.

Now that my words of thanks are out of the way - I wanted to say a few things about this particular mission..

Incredible atmosphere and voice work. Every inch of the locations (mostly through the textures you chose and your item placement) looks truly "lived in" and real. You don't find atmosphere like this even in games today.

Your choice of enemies were unique as well - and one enemy in particular (that I wont ruin for those who have yet to play it) made me jump back in my seat when I encountered it for the first time.

Three solid missions in a row - I hope that this will not be your last.

So to make a long story short - thank you for your efforts.

And on a side note: Thief_4 is probably the worst and most disrespectful poster ive seen on these forums thus far - and there really isnt a reason to keep him around. The moderators here must have more patience than I ever would.

I have no tolerance for users like Thief_4.

    He's history.

A smoking crater in the ground.

A greasy smear on the highway.

A distant gurgle in a far off septic tank.

My personal favorite... the third one.
