You can't change the resolution of those unfortunately. That and it doesn't look that bad.
So a fix for the stretching would require actual switching of the menu image files? For every applicable resolution? I've thought of it myself, but it simply isn't that important to me.
Maybe a batch image resizing program could do it easily, but...

Surely there's only one set for all the default resolutions, so the original images are just in 4:3 aspect ratio and stretched. Aren't most widescreen ratios 16:9 or 16:10? Then it would just be necessary to create a set at that aspect ratio rather than one for every res.
(additionally, if those pics can't be changed in dimensions as mentioned above, for widescreen nerds that use a consistent aspect ratio you might be able to make modded menu pics at 16:9/10 which are then squished to the supported 4:3 size, but then present correctly in widescreen. Maybe? Might cause jaggies and play havok with the menu, could be worth a try though.)
There's no need, guys, weak-ling has a solution:

Now only someone needs to update the .exe with this source code update.
Btw, I saw the new version of the Widescreen mod with now a FOV part during the install. Because I use 1920x1200 i entered a 110% FOV.
Why that number , check it for yourself. Remember im not really good in this widescreen stuff so i can be wrong.
http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/fovcalc.php
is 110 correct for 1920x1200 in SS2 ?
Check the thread again. Timeslip has said he'll likely implement it next week. Also, by default WSM adjusts the FOV to 100. That's correct if the original 4:3 FOV was 90.
This value is in percent, not in degrees, meaning that 100% is always the value that gives you the "right" field of view. This option is for people who like to play with an additional increase in fov. Modifying it results in "zooming" in or out. If you liked the way SS2 looks like on a 4:3 monitor then you should enter 100. The mod automatically takes your resolution into account. If you play in widescreen then you will see the same amount vertically and the horizontal view will be naturally enlarged to account for the widescreen aspect ratio.
Thanks for the explanation, WL. And Timeslip has already quickly posted the patched DLL for DDfix so that it forces menus, maps, and videos to 4:3. Awesome!
Getting a 640x480 .pcx to a 1600x1200 .pcx would make it higher res. because stretching a 640x480 img to fit a 1600x1200 in a 4:3 ration makes it blurry.
And yes it could fix the aspect ratio of the menu if you stretch it to full screen in a 16:9 and 16:10 but the .dll fixed that by putting the menu in a 4:3 ratio. and thus keeping it out the full screen situation.
Besides that If its worth all the trouble is always a good question. But I'm just saying it, not demanding it.
Anyone else having problems clicking anything on the inventory? Is there a fix for that?
....... wait whut ?
If you change the ss2 native resolution to 1600x1200 for example then it would, but yes atm its 640x480 so the 1600x1200 .pcx would not fit.
But we know this already. That is the whole problem, you talked about redesign the native 640x480 resolution to accommodate to a higher resolution.
Lets recap on how stupid that comment of you sounds.
We discuss the native resolution of the main menu what is atm stuck at 640x480. With that low resolution you can only get .pcx images to fit if they are also 640x480 if you do higher you only see a part of the image.
You suggest changing it to accomedate higher res. I then say changing 640x480 to 1600x1200 making it possible to use a .pcx image of 1600x1200 would make it higher res and not have the problem of fitting.
You then say its not a higher res if you do that. I disagree because at native resolution of 640x480 with a 640x480 .pcx the game stretches the menu over the screen to fit it (ignore ratio that is another discussion) making it blur. But getting a 1600x1200 .pcx on a 1600x1200 native resolution would not make it blur.
You then reply that it would not fit. And at that moment i think you don't understand what we are talking about anymore.

It's kind of funny, actually.
Amazing!
Now I can play both Thief Gold and Thief 2 with true 1440x900 and DDFix! Thanks a lot!![]()

v6 fixes the inventory item size problem in Thief1/2. Also, if ddfix.ini is present it is now automatically modified for the new resolution.

Awesome stuff.
Thief and SS2, like fine wines, just get better with age.![]()
You know what would be really cool? Either a scrapbook or a youtube vid or something showing the evolution of system shock 2 from what it is out of the box to what it could be with the countless mods and fixes at our disposal. Even if all we've done can't be put into a single build of the game, we can still showcase some of the best mods and how they add to the experience....but that's for another thread i guess.
The best use for a YouTube video would be showing off new weapon and AI models. The various resolution enhancements really wouldn't come across in YouTube format, what with the low resolution and bitrate.
Is it just me who can't set his DromEd window resolution to 800x600 again? Works well with 1280x800 in game mode, but the window itself is too small (640x480) and when I set resolution to 1280,800 via user.cgf the screen becomes unusable.
The DromEd interface can't be resized.
It only works in 640x480, 800x600 and 1024x768 (plus a buggy 1280x1024 that doesn't really work).
