I've just bought System Shock 2, I've patched it to version 2.3 and here's what came up after I tried to apply the widescreen modification (v6r3):
Here are SHOCK2.EXE files; before and after patching:Code:Copying and patching 1 file ... shock2.exe (2908160 bytes) not found, but found 240658 bytes, skipping... Hope this will help.

1920х1080 is working but 2560х1440 just crashes my game
I've got Dell u2711
Is that resolution actually supported by your monitor?
Forget that I asked, a short google search tells me it's supported. Very odd, it's the first time I heard that.
Make sure the resolutions in ddfix.ini and cam.cfg are the same.
I try to install the DarkWidescreen into Thief Gold.
But when i start the game everything is just black. I hear the menu sound and can click on the menyalternatives. But i cant see something. I have selected 1680 x 1080 and tried both 100 and 90 for the FOV.
Why is everything black?
After -1-DEAMON-1-, -2-DEAMON-2-, and -4-DEAMON-4-, I suppose our latest visitor was inevitable.
Someone wake me when -16-DEAMON-16- shows up.
I have a problem. I've recently bought a widescreen monitor and returned to thief (haven't played for almost a year). After setting the resolution to 1680x1050 everything works well, except for the light gem and the text under weapons, inventory items or when frobbing a sign. The light gem is too big and the text is too small. Is there a fix for this?
Also I noticed that after I installed this mod (or maybe it's ddfix) when I am in menus or reading a scroll or a book, there is a strange noise coming from the computer, for some reason it stops when I am moving the mouse and then again continues when I stop moving it. What's wrong?

To be fair, this thread is linked as the discussion thread for the widescreen mod in the DDFix / Widescreen sticky.
How is the gem "too big"? As far as I know, the gem is consistently scaled by Thief based on resolution? You can adjust the values in dark.cfg by changing vismeter_zoom - I don't know the exact specifics of what the value means, so you'll need to try experimenting.
All text in Dark is bitmap fonts, so it won't scale, full stop.
You'd have to replace it with a custom-made bitmap font with larger letters.
You need to get a screen that's good enough quality to read small text.
I'm aware this is the SS2 forum, but it's also the DDFix/Widescreen thread.
After running the widescreen mod on Thief Gold, no matter what resolution I choose, the game will simply crash on launch. I already installed DDFix. Would really like to play this game in a non-stretched resolution, if anyone else has had a similar problem (whether with Thief or System Shock).
Turned out I just needed to edit the cam.cfg file for the resolution. No need to run DarkWidescreen.bat, which appeared to cause some kind of problem.
Unless you want to use the editor, the latest version of DDFix has enough built-in support for widescreen resolutions that this patch should no longer be necessary.
DarkWidescreen version 7 is out.
Download:
http://www.gamefront.com/files/20475...escreen-v7.zip
Changelog:
- Modified the horizontal mouse sensitivity to account for different aspect ratios
- Worked around the dark engine bug making the mouselook get stuck when looking directly up or down
- Added a fail message for all the cool people who don't read the readme and try to use this with the copy-protected version of System Shock 2
- Added a complete ChangeLog
(will probably not work with ddfix > 1.5.6)
Unfortunately, when I download DarkWidescreen-v7.zip, I can't open it due to corruption. (Same result using either Window's internal unzipper or 7-zip.)
Just downloaded, opens fine for me with WinZip, WinRAR, and 7-Zip.
Check that you don't have an over-zealous antivirus which is corrupting the archive because it thinks it's a virus.
Tried again -->
Direct download through the link above -- right-click and "save as" -- equals corrupted download.
Open the linked page, download from the GameFront site, and the file comes through fine.
Hello there .o/
First I'd wish to thank weak-ling for providing us with this great patch, so here I do : thank you a lot, this is awesome ♥_♥
(Do you accept donations ?)
I do however encounter some kind of minor issue with it : perhaps similarly to vorob, Thief 1 and 2 —sorry, can't test with other games since I don't have them— refuse to allow me playing at my monitor's native resolution (2560x1600, that's a Samsung SyncMaster 305T), even though I have no problem setting my desktop or some more recent games to it.
When I use DarkWideScreen to set that up (with "100" fov), any attempt at starting/loading a mission gives me the following message : « The requested screen mode could not be set. », and then the game's actually running at 640x480 with weird colours — though if I generate a screenshot it appears totally normal.
I've actually been having this issue since a pretty long time. If I recall correctly, I had first tried it with some old version of the patch, perhaps version 5, while my main computer was running Windows XP (Home, SP3, kept up to date…) with a GeForce 8800. Then I switched to an ATI/AMD Radeon HD 5k series, still on the same OS, and more recently I've built another machine running Windows 7 x64, with a Radeon HD 6950 : still having the same little problem even with version 7 of the patch.
Well, it isn't that much of a problem to me since I can actually run the games in 1920x1200 or 2048x1536, yet I thought I'd report it anyway, just in case there would be a possibility of fixing it, which would then make this patch even more awesome than it already is :D
So, if you have like a debug version or some testing tools you'd wish me to run and generate some report with, just tell me, and I'll be glad to give it a try :}

If memory serves, DX6 doesn't support resolutions that high.
While it won't make a difference for these high resolutions, you might be interested to hear that the widescreen mod was later integrated into DDFix, which itself became part of the combined patch program SS2Tool.
