Not the best song on the new Aesop Rock album, but it does have a kitten in the video. So it's the best video.

Forgot about my wife's cousin for awhile. Turns out Mindset Evolution has been cranking out some wicked harsh metal and moving on up. Likely not anyone's taste here but I'm a metal head so-

I've been listening to mofoing GUNSHIP

It's like 80s music made babies with other beautiful 80s. It's all got the same vibe but it's all so different.

Here's one of my favs, (I really like the male and female vocalist) with a great juxtapositional video:

The new The Divine Comedy album ROCKS.

    Very, very gently.

Also in the video Neil Hannon gets hit in the crotch with a baseball at one point. It's great.

Well, this is pretty tight, musically, and also switches up genres at the drop of a hat, but we're all really here for the NSFW claymation videos that feature unravelling human minds and bodies, right?

If I had to compare it to something, I would choose obZen rather than Koloss.

Can't get this off repeat at the moment:

It's such a safely structured pop song, but the production just nails something.

The production on that reminds me a bit of those immaculately layered 80s recordings, like you'd hear on a Blue Nile album.

I can't really stop playing this Chemical Bros song lately. It's an aching electro ballad featuring Beck, which wasn't something I was expecting. It's a good song, but the accompanying video is pretty special.

Here, a Bon Iver song people for people who can't stand Justin Vernon.

I'm not embarrassed to say it chokes me up. I don't know why, but fuck me, it does.

Friday night is jazz night for me, but maybe this is more my speed at the moment.

Dema, that video is as early-90's as it gets. They rocked so hard that even all the old stuffy suits, who were initially skeptical to all this youthful so-called "rock and roll music", got up and danced. Amazing.

Anyway, there's a new A Tribe Called Quest album out and it's really good!

I just found out that Sharon Jones passed away this month. Not sure if a lot of people around here are into soul music, but Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings are my favourite modern soul/funk band, and up until earlier this year they were still putting out good stuff. The world just got a little less soulful.

True.. but then, maybe the antidote is to be antihipster 'guess what track no one else knows'. Oh wait.. maybe I misunderstood the thread title " the last song you listened to". But that's cool. Can't wait to hear more dull college complaint rock.

Edit: This was kind of douchey thing to say.. sorry. Seemed funny at the time. That'll teach me not to post comments after being awake for more than nearly 48 hrs.. ugh.

Awesome Just having a bit of fun.

So.. dial it back further for us then? Something with genuineness would be lovely.

We're all music lovers here.. no need to berate one another for our tastes. But let's see something interesting for a change.
