Whoa
Oh, that's a classic. If you're interested in mash-ups (as I suspect you are), there's a pretty great one called Wugazi that slams Fugazi into the Clan. Very old, but pretty listenable still, IMO. Here's one of the cuts:
Whoa
Haiduk
black thrash death
I have Poweramp on my phone shuffling by playlist, just to keep things varied when I'm using Android Auto. It's kind of cool hitting things I haven't listened to in awhile.
Yesterday was a Yazoo day in the car:
Today was a Yoko day:
Beautiful hawaiian music ...
Vaclovas Augustinas from Lithuania :
been hankering to listen to classical pieces with dark meaning behind it. I stress on death, departure, grief and despair musical theme
I finally got around to looking up the Fluorescences EP and found it on Qobuz. I hadn't heard it since the 90s. It's more pop than most of their songs. I especially enjoyed the warm horns on a sunny drive home after leaving work early. I liked the long track on that EP too, Soop Groove #1.
I've also listened to Cobra and Phases a couple of times since my last post here. I really dig the songs based on catchy loops. Not so much the ones based on drones, which they drag out unnecessarily at times on this album. I think my favorite album of theirs is still Dots and Loops, but I like Cobra almost as much if I skip over the filler.
By the way, I wonder if you're a fan of Bob James or Sufjan Stevens? I think I hear the influence of Stereolab in Stevens' music, and similarities between some of Stereolab's music and Bob James' early 70s albums.
I'm not familiar with Bob James AFAIK, but I've had Sufjan Stevens recommended before. I should check him out.

Black Horses by The Durutti Column
This song is sickeningly popular for my tastes, but it got stuck in my head.
I like it for the vocal melody in the verses and it's competently made for something so trendy. I started wondering about other songs with vocal melodies which I rate highly:
Last year I got a random nonsense word stuck in my head. It sounded something like "food-why-aye", and it was driving me mad. It would pop into my head first thing in the morning, and at other points throughout the day. This went on for a couple of months until I was playing an old playlist from a decade ago. I hear the word, scramble to look up translation because it's in French and it's actually foudroyer
transitive verb
to strike down
Il a été foudroyé - He was struck by lightning.
foudroyer quelqu’un du regard - to look daggers at somebody
You can hear it at 3:05, but you're probably not susceptible to that brain virus now that I've inoculated you.
I think I posted this one a couple of years ago, but this video has the translated lyrics and the song is beautiful enough to post twice. I don't know how I would go about finding more music that is unique in the same way as this.
After over 10 years since getting into Mayra Andrade, I have settled on this being her best song. I don't really know how to talk about or judge vocalists (because I don't know anything about singing techniques), but she's easily one of the best I've heard. Her notes are so clear and controlled, and she's anything but robotic.
This is also one that I've posted before. I love the way the bassist supports the vocals, especially moving into the chorus. Bassists usually have the best chance of setting the energy of a tune. It's a shame this one is so short.
Nice mix of songs with good vocal melodies from a bunch of different places: Japan, France, Cape Verde, Brazil.
Christ, so many hiphop GOATs have been dropping new stuff lately. The new LL stuff is great too.
I like that Ice Cube track. You know who else is back? CAKE!!!!
Weeeeell, maybe not BACK back. This is a track they teased 3 years ago and released yesterday as their contribution to a charity organization album. But I'll take any scrap of Cake I can get. Love it.
Since I said GOATs plural, this was the other person I was thinking of with a new track that fucking shreds.
Metal cover of a Sonic Adventure 2 character theme.
Not a lot of Halloweeny music. This kind of qualifies but I haven't found much new this year. Maybe David can get fishy again?
This is the new hotness across the pond. There's been accusations of them being plants, but I honestly couldn't care less. This is good ol' 70s glam rock, fronted by obviously talented women.
Back in the day I had this on a demo disc for the Saturn, and I'm certain I spent more time grooving to the title music than actually playing it.
I keep circling back to listen to this song. I'm still confused how he got the tender & delicate digital piano sound with his Roland RD-1000 digital piano in The One album (1992). What's the Roland MKS-20 used for ?
Laura Marling - Caroline
Montell Fish - better off (not in love)
heaven from him is also really good.
Dead Poet Society - HURT

For no particular reason at all.
Yes, it's an old song, but it feels slightly more apt this time around. Not that it's gonna change anyone's mind, everybody has already decided. But it might help to vent some frustration.
"Ninety percent of everything is crap." - Theodore Sturgeon
"Sturgeon was an optimist." - me, just now
System Shock 2 Walkthrough
Well, that was expected, yet unpleasant.
On a completely unrelated note, here's another old song. Two nights ago I saw Their excellent live show in Glasgow, one of the best TMBG shows I've ever seen. They played this song. Very loudly. And the people rejoiced. Jokingly, They said, if things go wrong we may have to stay here. And the people rejoiced. They, while happy with the haggis and cullenskink, there was an unease. Who will be in charge next? If They would have to stay, They would be embraced. Because the Scots bloody love the They.
[Edit]
Bonus TMBG. No reason. Certainly not implying anything. It's.. Your Racist Friend.
