I think I like the accoustic version better, though.

A short backgrounder: back in my teens I was a huge fan of ELO (kids, google it up), had (actually still have) most of their albums, and thought that their concept album 'Time' was the greatest.

Well, I still think 'Time' is one of the greatest rock albums ever. So, when I saw a remastered version with 3 bonus tracks on Amazon, I bought it, even though I had the original.

One of the bonus tracks is called 'Julie Don't Live Here', and damn, I'd have paid the full album price for just this single. It's classic ELO, fantastic melodies and harmonies, feels like there's two or three songs in that one pop tune - I love it.

So that's what I've been playing for the past few days, any chance I get: Electric Light Orchestra: Julie Don't Live Here.

Yeah, she's great . I strongly prefer her version of Rain (ugh, the clip quality) to Steve Conte's, and not just because it's the version actually used in the show.

Just picked up the new Extreme (Saudades de Rock) this morning, been listening to it all day. Great stuff, Nuno is a god, and fuck anybody who mentions More Than Words.

I love "Unconditionally" and "Tell me something I don't know" on their "Waiting for the Punchline" album. "There is no God" is also a killer song if you have a really loud stereo.

What would you say if I took those words away?

I've always dug Extreme and Nuno ... rocking hard since Pornograffiti. Very underrated IMO, at least for what he's best at (which is not acoustic ballads).

Jesus, Extreme still exist as a band? They certainly werent underrated, they had big critical and commercial success back in their heyday.

The song I hear over and over these days is by Dennis DeYoung called "RAIN".

It simply will not leave my mind.
It's so easy, but I can't do it.
So risky - but I gotta chance it.
It's so funny, there's nothing to laugh about

Yeah, underrated isn't the right word. I meant more like they were most known for More than Words and Hole Hearted when both of those weren't their trademark sound. Bettencourt can shread but I feel like that isn't what a lot of people first remember about him.

Same thing with Berlin being best known for Take My Breath Away, lol. Seems sad that a heavy band would be best known, of all their songs, for the most sappy.

Yeh, I agree with you there, remember Janet Jacksons 'Black Cat', she hired Nuno as a guitar gun to get that funky metal sound that he was flavor of the month for. I think Extreme just came to the party a bit too late, the rock world was looking for different sounds, and they found it in the rawer, more DIY styles of the early 90's bands.

I was set to berate all of you for having horrible taste in music until I realized that this has in fact risen from long-forgotten history and grabbed me by the curlies.

Goddammit now I've had to go buy Pornograffitti. I bought it when it came out, but some heinous dink thiefed it along with a couple other sweet CDs shortly after I got it. But hooray for iTunes!

So. Um. I guess my contribution to this thread would be "It ('s a Monster)"

What a fucking beast of a guitar sound Nuno puts in my ears.

(edit: ahahaha! I forgot how awesome the main riff from the title track is. Goddamn but this album is well-produced.)

(edit2: I CAN'T BELIEVE I FORGOT THAT THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS EVER)

Belongs right between Angel Dust and Surfing With The Alien.

Good song. I kinda prefer the style of this song over some of the other stuff Yorke has done.

Ah, so I'm not the only Nuno fan here. It's the first album in 12 years, same guys/new drummer. Check out two new songs here. The new album is more of the same funky goodness, but has a few new things (a rockabilly song? Yeah - it fuckin' rules. A piano song that sounds like Radiohead and Muse had a baby? Oh hell yes.)

On tour with King's X, the best band on the planet, this fall. Also if you like Nuno, spend the $17 bucks and get his prior band Dramagods (import) - best rock album I've heard in years.

I recently discovered Austrian Death Machine, metal band whose texts are made entirely of famous Schwartzenneger's quotes(Hence the name). Particularily "Get To The Choppa" caught my ear. I just wish they used original samples insted of pretending to sound like Arnold.
