T2 FM: Off The Record by Yandros (Dec 25 2008)

    Story
You recently met with an informant, who was told by a guard that works in the City Hall Annex that there is a case file on you being kept there. Sounds like a little trip to the Annex is in order, to make sure that your case file gets 'lost'... that way if you're ever unlucky enough to get caught by the bulldogs, none of your past sins can be held against you. You pry open a window in the basement and slip inside...

This mission was begun for the Thief Anniversary Contest, but I missed the deadline. It still adheres to the space restriction of the contest.

Well done on getting this out!

Still, I say 14:07 on the 26th doesn't count as the 25th; not in the USA and not even in Samoa...

    Already stuck on this one.....

How can I open the gate? (the first that you encounter, in the room with cards on the table) I see a key just on the wall inside, but obviously I can't reach it.
Also, there is a button near the carpenter table, I pushed it but I can't find the secret anywhere....

BTW, congratulatins on the release Yandros!

Lady Rowena: You need to find an alternate route, the gate can only be opened from the other side.

I guessed it, but after having examinated every inch/centimeter of the other rooms, I gave up.

    I'll take another look.....

I was almost in the same spot as you Lady R. Hint...Look UP. The secret is on the same wall as the button is.

Which difficulty? The main objective is a little different on Expert vs. Normal or Hard. As for loot, I'll post a lootlist soon if it's needed.

    Some hard-to-find loot:

    • The signet ring hinted at in the post on the bulletin board, which is in the bottom of the elevator shaft.
    • Coins on the floor, usually found around tables where the guards play cards.
    • A purse on the bookshelf at the eastern end of Public Records.
    • A Lost City tapestry under the covered couch in the southern storage area in the basement.
    • Two canopic jars behind objects in the middle cubby of the basement storage room where the grate leading up to ground floor are - lean forward to see them (or frob blindly).
    • There's a lot of loot in the three secrets, especially the one in the Director's Office.

Are the other difficulty objective items available on Normal?

Okay I admit defeat with 10 gold left (two coins no doubt under a table that I must of missed somehow somewhere), but at least I only needed the one hint regarding the tapestry.

41 minutes on Expert, 1640 of 1895 loot, 3 of 4 pockets picked... and a really fun time. The random patrol route the guy on the floor with the four offices takes threw me a few times and really kept me on my toes.

I only found 2 of 3 secrets, though, I'll have to try again and hunt some more!

Very impressive small mission, thanks Yandros!

I'm glad someone noticed that! Actually the other two male guards have random patrols too. Only Gabby (top floor) is not random - that's because she's new and the routine makes her feel comfortable.

I suspect you missed the one in one of the offices on the first floor (Will's floor). It should be obvious which office it's in.

Finished...nice little mission and plenty to do...I loved the dual thinking of the light above the lads desk...he likes the new shiny bits and the crafty boss has really just given him the Tat or leftovers, and the boss also has his eye on Gabby the new girl, and indicates what he has in store for the poor newby...Ug!

Yeah, I seem to like including less-than-noble people in my missions, don't I?

It all started with Eastwater Bank, I guess...
