Take-Two today announced the official release dates for 2K Marin's BioShock 2.

The anticipated sequel will hit stores on November 3 in North America. Meanwhile, the game will arrive a few days earlier across international territories, on October 30.
While official BioShock outlet The Cult of Rapture reports the game is set for a simultaneous launch on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Take-Two was reluctant to confirm the game's platforms during its earnings call today.

TTLG's fierce negativity towards the game amuses me.

Well, they messed up the first one to the point where I think most of us are pretty skeptical about the second. I know I am. I'll still buy it, but I'm preparing myself for it not living up to my hopes. They said that they listened to the fans and put a multiplayer aspect in. Okay, that's good...but did you listen to us more than that? 'Cause there were problems in the game that definitely needed fixing.

Enchantermon, I hate to break it to you, but majority of the fans loved the game. So yes, they probably listened to them and yes, you will probably still hate it.

I don't think I want to start another anti-BioShock war here, but the first game was, well, great (as long as you don't approach it as a System Shock 3). So i think the sequel is definitely

    anticipated

I was just thinking of the people here at TTLG. Even so, saying "most" may have been overkill in retrospect. Definitely "some," though. But for the record, I didn't hate Bioshock at all. On the contrary, I loved it. But there were several things that should have been done differently.

The release date seems more than appropriate regardless of which camp you belong to.

    Trick or Treat anyone?

I don't know if it was you all who did it to me, but I really liked bioshock, and now I just have this idea in my head that it kind of sucked, and I havezero desire to replay it.

And I'm not trying to be all grrrr about it, it's just sad =(.

Online modification? What on Earth are you babbling about?

Bioshock 2, A COMMERCIAL SEQUEL to Bioshock 1, has a multiplayer component. Bioshock 2 has been delayed to Q1 or Q2 2010. The linked article in the first post is about Bioshock 2, not some mod for BS1.

It's impossible to extensively mod Bioshock 1 because the developers never released an editor/SDK. Even then we'd require the game's source code before even contemplating the thought of adding multiplayer. The most we can do are small script mods.

Word of advice, read and understand what a thread is actually about before replying. Also don't revive ancient threads, create new ones.

    ANTIcipated indeed.

I don't want to sound too anti-Bioshock, but when I saw that beautiful piece of antiquity, I just had to bash it a little. There's just too much vigilantism around there parts of the internet these days. Geez, don't get yer gigantic panties in a knot.

Now here's something for you puzzle solvers out there: how many instances of the word "anti" can you spot in this post?

well there's no pipe dream hacking in bs2, more like gears of war 2 way of shooting for the hacking. Apparently bioshock 2's been simplified down so weely fick people can play it.

? where does that info come from ?
I don't know anything about BS2 in regards of resources, ammo, hacking......
Will it rely on the same mechanics for Turrets/Cameras ?
Or will they just leave it be..... ?
Didn't think you could dumb the game down more without loosing the little charm it got.....oh, wait, there's always unified ammo....

Unified ammo works when thought is put into it (hello Syndicate Wars). It just doesn't work well in IW.

I liked the fact that SS2's pistol and AR used the same ammo, especially since it takes quite a while to build up to the AR if you're playing with psi or hacking as well.

I don't consider that an instance of unified ammo. There's plenty of games where a number of weapons use the same sort of ammunition (like Fallout 3, Stalker, hell, pistol and stealth pistol in DX if you wanna stretch it) and it works great for them, while not detracting from the overall variety and the importance of tactical/inventory management.

Ah. So we're talking more about every weapon using the same ammo, then? If so, I can't really think of a way it could be done well, but that might just be me.

As much as I would like to see what Jordan (Shalebridge) Thomas has in store for us - I really, really have no desire to play a big daddy & thus, will probably wait till the price drops to pick it up.

One week before Modern Warfare 2 is not a good marketing move IMHO. I would guess it would be better to either be a month ahead of it's release or a month behind it. You'll get press coverage for maybe 3-4 days and then most publications will jump over to MW2.

I remember when I thought Bioshock was the best game ever made! Then I encountered my first splicer that took 20 antipersonel rounds to kill. Then I realized that the ever feared 'Big Daddy's' were nothing but oversized teddy bears with LED's. Then I realized that everything in the game is repetitive by the time I got to the 4th level. Then I realized that the last boss SUCKED! And the hacks were less than retarded. Whoever designed them should just quit.

I never read one review before the game came out so I wansn't expecting anything, and I loved the game to death until I beat it. I still love it. It's one of those things where I hate it so much because I would worship it, if it were just a little bit different.

I have high hopes for part 2, but I'm not gonna pay a dime until I play a demo. It's too risky. But if there's no playable demo, I'll just buy it. DAMN YOU BIOSHOCK!!!

Open your eyes. The delay to 2010 has even been mentioned in this very thread.
